I used these liners to line the bottom and sides of the litter pan. Within a couple of days of cleaning the pan with the liner under the sand it was difficult not to notice that our cat started to pee outside the pan on the sides of the box. She had never done that before. After I removed the liner she stopped peeing outside the box so I think for some reason she did not like the feeling of plastic under her paws when she climbed into the box so she didn't climb very far into the box but peed on the side or outside it.
