To reduce expenses and to help protect the environment, in early 2021 our household started taking a number of measures to cut our energy consumption. Those measures have proven successful: total 2021 electricity consumption in our single-family, detached home in the US SE was about 8,000 kWh (3,200 of which was for AC), compared to about 11,000 kWh annual average in previous years. We tested the idea by applying the film only on our bathroom windows (actually, on the storm windows) several months ago. We are pleased, so much so that we have just reordered the film to apply it to other windows, placing priority on those windows that a) receive considerable direct sunshine here in the hot SE of the USA or b) can be looked into by neighbors or from the street. We have found that this window film safeguards our privacy nicely when the light outside is brighter than the light inside. If we want privacy when it’s dark out, we just close the curtains. We have also discovered that the film significantly reduces the amount of bright light shining through the windows, giving the rooms a softer, more cool-colored feeling. Some members of our household, keen to maintain as much natural light as possible, have vetoed the idea of having the film applied on the windows of their rooms. Another benefit of the film is that it can protect against the shattering of the glass in the event of, for example, a ball flying into it, a thief trying to break through it and get in, an extreme weather event … or a war – I saw on TV the other day a man applying film to his windows in the Ukraine. When it comes to applying this film, here are some lessons I learned: a) Be patient; take your time; think quality over quantity. There are some jobs around the house that can be done well with a mindset of speed and high energy; this isn’t one of them. To do this job well, a mindset of calm and of quality of work is called for. Approach this task when you have a good chunk of unhurried time available, then put on some music you enjoy and settle calmly into a useful task. b) Trial and (frustrating) error taught me to cut the film BEFORE applying it. I learned to carefully measure the windows, then cut the film with 1/8” to spare on all sides. This made it much easier to apply the film. True, we now have 1/8” of untinted window all the way around, but that’s barely noticeable, and the cut lines are clean. With this method, I don’t risk scratching the glass of the storm windows or cutting into their rubber edging. It’s also far less unwieldy. By cutting in advance, application becomes a very manageable one-person job. c) When preparing to cut the film, completely clear and clean the biggest table you have in your house. Do your cutting there. I am giving this all 5 stars right after I installed it. I really hope this lasts because I really like the results and it was easy to install. I've included the step by step progress as I was installing this. Let me first say that this is located in a VERY high spot in the dining room area. I am a very petite lady doing this task alone so the hardest part is transforming my little body into a tall octopus. I love the light this window allows through but as summer quickly approaches so was the heat coming through that window. I knew I needed to do something about it. After a lot of reading of reviews, I settled on this one since the 35.4 Inch X 6.5 Feet size matched perfect to this window. I also watched a lot of Youtube videos and found that the secret to an easy install is using a lot of soapy water. This kit comes with a doll size water bottle and squeegee which are a waste of time. Get a large spray bottle and make up your soapy solution. I also used an old gift card to get the bubbles out and stick it down. To help myself with needing extra hands I used painter's tape to tack it to the wall and I got to removing the protective sheet. At first, I was very gentle removing it, then out of frustration I just went to town and pulled the protected layer off the entire sheet. I'm glad I did because it was very durable as I tacked it and sprayed it with the soapy solutions...window, front, and back...GO CRAZY!!! It was very easy to stick it to the glass. I used a expo knife and cut the excess off so I can position it better. Then I went to completing the detailed trimming. This tint is clean, durable, and thick, and I felt the immediate result of the heat and light being filtered. It is also a great option for this type of window since the shape is difficult to work with. As you look out the window, it looks like a cloudy day, not so bright and when you look in from outside it's silver reflects the clouds floating by.

I mainly bought this product due to the static cling application. We live in an apartment and I didn’t want to deal with the glue on traditional tint when the the tint needs peeled off. The reflective side is another great benefit living in an apartment. Now I don’t have nosy neighbors staring into our apartment. So far I’ve had two neighbors reach out for the link so they can buy some also. I highly recommend buying a window tinting kit, and a large squeegee. I bought my kit for 8.99 and got the squeegee at Walmart. After squeegeeing a majority of the film, the small card that comes with a tint kit works great for an even straight line cut and doing a final squeegee pass on the film. I’ve noticed that you always want a sharp blade with this film due to its thickness. If it’s not sharp it will either snag the film and make an ugly edge, or it will only cut halfway through. Take your time and follow the instructions. The only cons I noticed were 1: being static cling, it loves hair. If you have animals I highly suggest you drench your window and drench the the back of the tint. Prep is key in most tinting situations 2: it seemed to crease easy on me while unrolling and taking off the protective back. I haven’t tried using heat to get the creases out like traditional window tint, but I do know that I can’t just squeegee out some of the creases Overall it’s an awesome product for what it is, installation is fairly easy, the shade is great, the privacy of the reflective side is a huge bonus, and it helps the kids be able to nap easy. We’re waiting on the next billing cycle to see if we were able to save a few dollars but you can feel the heat reduction during the middle of the day.

It gets super hot here, 105-115+ in the summer and this window film drops the temperature dramatically in any room we install it in. I highly recommend it. Stick it on with water and even though I can’t get it to lay perfectly flat it still works great for my needs. I’m sure it’s saving me a ton of money on my AC bill. The silver one can look a bit like tinfoil from the outside but it’s nice for privacy too.

I recently purchased a home with these big windows right next to my front door. From the right angle, and at night or early in the morning especially, you can see all the way through my living room and into my kitchen. I prefer having my blinds/curtains open because I enjoy the natural light, so I was looking for a product that would do the following: 1) Provide more privacy than the bare window 2) Still let in light and allow my cats/dog to enjoy their new perch 3) Be more aesthetically pleasing than a simple tinted film And this product checked all those boxes! I took the inside picture around 4pm or so after install, and the outdoor picture around 7pm when there was less light shining on my window and I could get an idea of what it would be like at night. You can tell that my dog is in front of the window, but I think it would be difficult to see anything with real detail further into the room. I recently installed some sunlight blocking film on some windows and if you have any experience at all with that, this product should be a breeze. It is a little bit harder to slide over the window than a thinner film, but the thickness means that it isn't so bad about sticking to itself and is less likely to wrinkle. You just have to peel the film off and reapply rather than sliding as it will stretch out if you tug on it too hard. I first sprayed my window, got the film more or less lined up, and then pulled it part of the way off and sprayed the window AND film before getting it into place. Get a good razor on hand, as the thickness can make it a bit harder to cut all the way through. Other than that, installation was pretty simple and I found that the pattern is a little more forgiving than a tinted film. If you don't get the corners perfectly lined up or if it tears a little during the cut, it's hard to notice as long as the imperfections are fairly small. With a tinted film, these mistakes can be a lot more obvious. For this large window with four panels, full install took me maybe an hour and a half? One final note: I initially ordered a similar product from a different seller/manufacturer because it was a little cheaper. Save yourself the trouble and order this one. I had the wrong product sent to me TWICE before going with this one. This product also ended up being easier anyway as it came in a larger width and required less cutting/assembling. Overall, I'm very pleased and would consider purchasing again if I ever needed it!

I really wish it was far more reflective. The pictures make it look like you won't see anything during the day. It's still not hard to see through. Installation was easy enough but sadly this isn't as heavily reflective as I'd expect to be labeled privacy one way film.

This little window tint works. Is not perfect, also Im not a handyman but it does the work. Check the pictures. I think I used the wrong size so I had to put two 17” on each size of the sliding door. I dont mind the middle line. The mirrow effect on the outside doesn’t look like a perfect mirror, but like I said, for the price it does the job and my living room feels a lot better.

UPDATE: We're on the east coast, and have gotten slammed with insane heat for today and tomorrow (high 90s, heat index of 103-109). I have ordered this film 3 times and I need to order one more time to get the remaining 5-6 windows done. Our downstairs is sitting at a nice 71 degrees (there are also no ceiling fans downstairs). Upstairs (which gets hotter) is at 73 degrees (ceiling fans in every room, which also helps it not get too bad). In comparison from last year, during the heat dome "situations", downstairs easily got up to 78 and upstairs got into the lower 80s. So for us, this is a DRASTIC difference in comfort level. Now, we do have thermal control curtains in our main bedroom, and over the living room window, and we also have a secondary reflector film on the windows in our office space. I would say this has been a success, even with all the windows not having been done yet. I will be ordering one last roll to get everything finished before the [sustained] heat of summer is upon us! We live in a house that has literally no insulation…I don’t mind it much in the winter because I can just bundle up. But the summers are BRUTAL. We had those reflective covers over the windows last summer but it literally makes you feel like you’re in a crypt because we literally couldn’t see daylight. I started buying this film to start summer proofing our windows before the real heat hits. It makes a huge different in the amount of rays that come thru the window as you can see by the picture. We’re doing it early because our theory is, we started trying to do this kind of stuff AFTER the house was already hot. Now that we’re doing it now, we want to see if it helps on the onset of heat to help with the temps. Couple of tips: be sure to get one of those window kits with the squeegee (you’re gonna need it…trust me). Also, DO NOT try to put the whole film on a window at once! Start at a corner and move through. I’d also recommend a plastic cutting board for crafting to use underneath and use an exacto knife and a yardstick to help with measurements. Lastly…DO NOT cut to the exact size of your window or you won’t be able to fully get all the bubbles out from your soapy solution.
