Hi, if you have or had (or used) the Pentax 16-50 f2.8, please tell me your thoughts on these 2 lenses. Thanks!!!

I have both lenses and find that the 16-85 is more useful to me. However, the 16-55 , being faster, is more useful indoors where the light is poorer. The 16-85 is more useful as a general purpose outdoor lens IMO.

Would this be compatible with my Pentax K-70

The 16-85 lens is for K mount crop body Pentax cameras and therefore should be compatible with the K-70.

How is this different from hd pentax da f4 - 5.8 55 - 300mm ed wr?

The HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3ED PLM WR RE lens features a new retractable design. This new lens also features a new optical design, electromagnetic diaphragm control along with improved high-speed AF operation using a pulse motor (PLM) for smooth, quiet, and immediate response. USAGE NOTES: This lens features a KAF4 lens mount compatible with an electromagnetic diaphragm control system. Current Compatible Cameras with KAF4 lens mount system are: PENTAX KP, K-70, K-1, K-3 II, K-3, K-S2, K-S1 and K-50. For K-1, K-3 II, K-3, K-S2, K-S1 and K-50, the camera’s firmware must be upgraded to the latest version. If this lens is mounted on a camera without proper firmware upgrade, its diaphragm control mechanism becomes inactive, making it impossible to obtain correct exposure. Is this for a full frame or crop sensor?

This is not a full frame lens. This lens will work with all our APSC DSLR's.
