Collector's Encyclopedia of Madame Alexander Dolls 1948-1965 Hardcover – Illustrated, July 1, 2005

I am restoring a 1956 Madame Alexander Cissy doll. I had purchased 2 other books of pictures of Madame Alexander dolls but the pictures of the dolls I was interested in were either in black and white or not included in the books. This book has almost all of the Cissy dolls that were made and their outfits. The pictures are in color so I was able to use this book to select fabric for making dresses. The pictures were also of great value when I styled Cissy's hair.The book also includes pictures of the other Madame Alexander dolls that were made during this time frame. It is a very complete and useful book for anyone collecting MA dolls.

Madame Alexander Dolls 1948-1965 arrived in excellent condition, the book has great pictures and is very informative on the particular Madame Alexander dolls I needed information on. Would have liked a few more pictures of Winnie doll. But was unable to determine this before purchasing. All in all it was helpful.

This book was a big disappointment. Our doll museum needs a complete reference on vintage Madame Alexander dolls for our doll appraisal days and this book will not help. Both of the tagged outfits (Cissy and Cissette)that I own and hoped to identify were not present in the book with no reason for the omission. What else is missing?There are no pictures of the markings on the dolls or the back of the hairstyle (would be especially helpful for restoration). No close ups or descriptions of accessories like shoes, eye glasses etc. I have no idea what extras may be available for these dolls so would not be able to identify them unless they are with a doll.Some of the pictures are blurry and the accessories are not recognizable. I do not know much about these dolls and this book will not help me learn about the details. This author has written a lot of books on Madame Alexander dolls and that seems to have thinned out the information so that you must buy all of the books for any detail. The pricing is strictly for perfect, mint dolls so no idea of the value of most dolls that we will see at our appraisals.This book also claims that Maggie dolls are all marked "Alexander" but that is generally not true. Maggie dolls are usually not marked. Also, why does this book not explain about Binnie and Winnie Walker dolls? Hopefully the author will cover this topic in one of the future books.If you are looking for a complete and useful reference to Madame Alexander this in not the book for you. Hopefully someone will write one complete reference to these great dolls.

I already had the 1965-1990 book, so this book 1948-1965 was a great addition. I sell on dolls on Ebay and can use this book to identify the older Madame Alexanders. This is a well written book with great pictures. The price on Amazon was so much better than where I purchased before.

Was looking for some of the dolls that I have but they were not in the book I purchased. So, it was a nice book to look through anyway . . .

This book was recommended to me and I would in turn recommend it to someone else. Has great pictures with information of the dolls and information about the company. Book was as listed and arrived within the time frame specified. I would order from this seller again.
