SAFAVIEH Antiquity Collection 5' x 8' Brown / Beige AT822B Handmade Traditional Oriental Premium Wool Area Rug

I’ve bought several Safavieh rugs in all sizes. They are the best brand for oriental style rugs with excellent quality at a very reasonable price. They’re well made, durable, and look beautiful. The colors in this one are soft and subtle and will go with a wide variety of decor.

If I could give this rug ten stars, I would. It is amazing. I've struggled with rugs to relax and lay flat - not this rug. Right off of the hard cardboard roll, it settled out immediately. The colors are so beautiful and calming - very true to the photo. There is a bit of shedding, but I'm confident after a few runs with the vacuum will take care of that. The pile is perfect - not too high, not too low. I am thrilled. I highly recommend!

This rug is so beautiful. I intended to use it in the kitchen in front of the sink and the door that leads to our backyard. I bought it knowing it would likely not work in that kind of environment because that area tends to get dirty rather quickly. I ended up being right. It’s too thick and would not clean easy. But it’s so beautiful that I decided to keep it and use it in another space. It does shed quite a bit but I’m willing to deal with it until that stops.

I have a smaller version of this i ordered first to see the colors and quality. I really like it so I ordered a larger size to go under our kitchen table. It was very nice too but felt much darker in the room than I thought it would and, because of the deepness of the pile, it was hard to move the chairs in and out from the table. Mostly the moving chairs was the issue. The colorIng is very pretty, if muted. I returned the larger size. However I was helping a friend redecorate her living room around the same time and brought the little guy to her house and she loved it so much she bought the 9x12 and it looks fantastic and she loves it! If I needed for a living or family room rug I would not hesitate. Just not great for places you need to move chairs (office, dining, etc.). The wool is soft and comforting on the feet. Synthetics just can’t compare and wool isn’t that hard to clean (I have two kids and two dogs and manage). I have antique Persian rugs, pottery barn rugs, Anthropologie rugs and this little guy. While it isn’t the same quality as the hand woven antiques from my great grandmother (that I can’t possibly afford more of, and they are thinner And more difficult to clean). This rug has the exact same quality as pottery barn (would not be shocked if made by same manufacturer) for a fraction of the price because it doesn’t say pottery Barn on it. The singular concern I have is whether the factories are run humanely and fairly.

I was so excited to have this beautiful new rug, but it was shipped with a big hole in it. Very disappointing. I went to return it, via Amazon's free shipping policy, but because it's over the 50 lb limit, I would have to pay for shipping. Very expensive to ship an 80 lbs rug. I shared the pics with the seller, and in the end, we were able to resolve the issue to my satisfaction.By the way, if you look at the picture of the rug on the floor, you can see the actual colors better.A comment about shedding. This is a pure wool rug. I've had others. Very thick weave. It is going to shed every time you vacuum it and shampoo it. A lot at the beginning. Every time you vacuum, you wonder how long that can go on for. It turns out, like 10+ years. And it still feels thick and luxurious, even near the end. It's basically the edges that start to wear out. The edges will wear out just like an inexpensive polypropylene rug that's thin and doesn't shed. This is my 3rd Safavieh wool rug. They all shed.

I was excited when I found this rug because it looked like a much more expensive rug for a lower price point. Others with a similar design and plushy feel are usually priced upwards of $1500 for the size we ordered (9’x12’). When it arrived I loved the look and feel. It’s very pretty colors, thick, and soft underfoot. I REALLY WANT to love this rug, but I just requested a return. The shedding is absolutely out of control!!! There is a layer of fuss on top of all my hardwood floors throughout the house. Even after vacuuming several times. Now I know why this rug was so affordable! Shedding is to be expected, but this is beyond what is normal for a wool rug. The shedding is so bad it feels like this item was determined to be defective by the manufacturer and product sent to Amazon to get rid of defect product at a low price point. I know that if I keep this rug I will get frustrated with the constant vacuuming. I’ve even noticed some unraveling along the edges of the rug after only a week in my family room. I’m annoyed because it’s large and awkward and have no idea how I’m going to get it back to Amazon for the return…save yourself the headache and DON’T BUY!!!! I’ve noticed that my throat feels itchy when in the house since getting this rug. It stops when we are out and about. Actually think the fuss is irritating us!

We have had this rug for over 10 yrs (kids, dog, cat, spills) and it looked brand new. My husband and I took a mini get away and I am pretty sure the kids (teens) had some (or many) people over for a mini vacation from us...All of the sudden there was a really stinky part on the rug. One I could not get to come out. It was the worst smell. So we had to buy another one - of the exact same rug. Very subtle. Mainly gold, small pieces of subdued red and overall kind of a green cast mixed in the beige. Like camo color underlying the beige - in a good way. Very thick and extremely sturdy. We never had a run or fraying and we are on it all the time.I would highly recommend. I am the rug queen and all but this one have worn out in a short time or been peed on/barfed on/ pooped on (see above). This one has too but it is so easy to clean. I know it is wool but we cleaned it with a Bissell water and solution cleaner we have. It handled it great. Also, you cannot see the normal dirt we all bring in. Hmm, such a good review I feel like I should buy it again.
