Nice....... But A Little Over Priced
Upon opening the box I was slightly disappointed with the product. I guess I was expecting something different, like the headliner to be made of a much denser type of foam. This foam is about an inch thick and very light and airy. Less dense than say cushioning foam...by far! It does have a nice black finish on one side which will look nice and give the roof a finishing touch but I can't imagine that it is going to offer much in the way of insulation or "sound deading" except maybe to soften inside acoustics a bit. But judging from sight, touch and feel it seems extremely over priced for what it is. If I had personally examined this product prior to ordering I woud not have paid this kind of a price. Maybe half this much. Perhaps it will perform better than it appears it will? I will update the review after I have installed it. UPDATE: I have installed the headliner and so far I am impressed. It was a fairly simple install and it looks great, especially compared to the white plastic look of the original top. It does make the vehicle somewhat quieter, but better than that, the insulation factor is even more noticeable! Before installing this headliner the sun would beat down on the top and make the interior unbearably hot, even on 70 degree days. With the headliner installed I have noticed a major decrease in the interior temperature even on extremely hot 90 degree days. If for no other reason the headliner is worth the insulation value alone. I have changed my review to 5 stars based on performance and looks. I still think it's a little on the expensive side but I'm glad I made the purchase.

Helps keep the heat out
Surface prep is key to a secure install. I used purple grease cleaner, then acetone, then alcohol. Surgical type rubber gloves to keep the sweat/oils from contaminating the surface. I know it's over kill. I unbolted the hard top and tilted it up using a piece of 4x4 on the roll bar so I could install the rear mats above the speakers. This way I didn't have to remove the roof. As for as longevity of the adhesive, time will tell. It did quiet down the interior and it does help keep the heat from radiating through the hard top. Which was the main reason I bought it. The price was also another.

Excellent add-on
I immediately noticed an tremendous decrease in Road noise, and it didnโt feel as cold stepping into it during an average NY winter morning. I do believe the price is a bit high for what you are actually getting- foam and spray glue. I would have liked to have had window frame molded foam included rather than the extra strips they provide.

Bad fit and no customer support from seller
If I could give a score less than a 1 I would. First, I want to point out this does not reflect in any way on Amazonโs customer service, their service has always been top notch. I receive what I thought was โcustom fitโ Boom Sound Deadening Headliner for my 2012 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 doors. But when I took them out of the box, I immediately notice they were going to be way too small for my freedom panels. So, I returned them and requested the correct ones to be mailed to me. Well, the second set were also the wrong size. So, I contacted the actual seller Design Engineering to request some help with the fitting of the panels. But unfortunately, I think I would of receive as much help if I would have lifted the toilet seat and screamed into the toilet and flushed it. Even after I sent them a picture showing that the so-called custom fit was way off. They stated that there is nothing they could do about it and that I would have to contact Amazon. Never again will I buy anything from Design Engineering. These people do NOT stand behind their product.

Work Well! (ours was missing parts however)
I bought the set for my 2016 JK, 2 Door Jeep Wrangler. The set arrived in a large box that had been crushed a bit in shipping. In examining the contents though, all looked ok. When I finally got around to installing, I realized that the set was missing two of the "groove-filler" foam pieces that keep to surface for mounting smooth. Since I had the roof off and the help waiting to put it back on, I went ahead and installed the panels without them. Installation was smooth. I made sure to follow the instructions carefully, especially with surface prep. Adhesion has been excellent so far with no problems. There was a slight bit of distortion where the missing pieces were but it's in the back and really not that noticeable. After installation, I really have noticed that the interior is much quieter and cooler! Even with temps in the 90's, the padded areas are cool to the touch where in the past, the roof interior panels were almost too hot to touch. These do not radiate heat into the interior like the bare roof did! Overall, I'm pleased with the product!

Installation was fairly easy. I wasn't able to remove the entire roof ...
This was installed in my two-door Jeep Wrangler. Definite improvement in noise inside since it's no longer an echo chamber. Now I hear more traffic and road noise coming through the doors and windows, but that's not a big deal. It hasn't been hot or cold enough yet to know how effectively the mat will work in temperature extremes. Installation was fairly easy. I wasn't able to remove the entire roof though (I was home alone). Instead I propped up the front of the roof enough that I could reach the sections above the sound bar. Had to carefully maneuver the pieces into place, but didn't have any issues with the mat adhering in the wrong spot. I then reached up and pulled down on the roof while I worked the mat into place from underneath. I rated this as three stars because as far as I can tell, the product does what it's supposed to do, no more or less than that.

Wish I had done this last summer!
Installed this on my 2014 Wrangler JK 2-door with a black hard top. 1. Before this, the heat roiled down on my head from the uninsulated top on hot sunny days. The AC really struggled to keep up. Even if the AC got the main part of the cabin cool, the part up around my head was always warm. Yesterday, it was 95 degrees & full sun, yet the entire cabin was comfortable. I even had to turn down the AC fan. Huge difference! BTW, I got the white color mat. The surface is washable and the color keeps the interior lighter. 2. While the mats did make a difference in the noise, it's still a Jeep and will never be quiet. Other noise just became more noticeable, such as wind noise from around the windshield. Unless you're addressing all other sources of noise along with these for the roof, I wouldn't buy these just for noise reduction. They are great for heat insulation. INSTALLATION: a. the instructions are correct that these will stick instantly and be difficult to move once the adhesive touches. Do a test fit before removing the backing! Remove the backing slowly and in sections. b. On the 2-door JK, the mat completely fills the space between the sound bar and the top. Since I never ever remove the back portion of the top, I marked the outline of the soundbar on the mat then cut on the outline. I squeezed the small forward section between the soundbar & roof into place with the backing left on, then installed the visible main portion as normal. Only someone who knew what to look for would spot the cut just above the edge of the soundbar. Note: This only works if you never take the back portion of the roof off. It also made this a one-man operation.

They Work!
These beauties really do a great job. We can actually hear our radio now as weโre going down the road in our Wrangler. Not only do they help with outside noise coming into the cab, they absorb interior sounds allowing better conversations and music sound quality. Glad I bought!

Noticeable Sound Deadening
Boom Mat definitely improved interior sound quality and comfort. The installation went smooth and the only tip I can think of is to avoid stretching out the material while positioning and applying. The adhesive is excellent meaning you only get one shot. So be careful with alignment and if possible get someone give you a hand. The masking tape method of positioning is helpful but isnโt foolproof.
