Great little book with lovely illustrations and cute story—a must for your garbage truck lover!
My 21-month-old son is positively OBSESSED with garbage trucks. It was one of his first words (garrrrrh-shruh)! When this book popped up as a suggested product, I had to get it. My mommy instincts were right—it’s a HIT with my little guy! The morning it arrived, he was eating breakfast in his highchair. He saw the book from across the room and immediately recognized it as a “garrrrrh-shruh” and outstretched his arms. Since then, he’s been carrying this little book around, “driving” it on tables and the floor, and offering it when we have guests over. The story is short and cute, the illustrations are lovely with tons of little details on each page (we like to count the trees), and the educational quality is good. Seriously, this has been some of the best few bucks spent recently.

Perfect for One Year Olds
I bought this book for my grandson who wakes up every Monday making a noise that he thinks sounds like the garbage truck. We wait every Monday for the garbage trucks to come and he loves to see them. Some even beep at him now. So, when I saw this book, I thought it might be perfect for him. The reviews made me a little unsure but it was the best I could find for his age range. He really loves it. When he got it, he was about 15 months old and he played with it more as a toy truck that he would drive around. Now at 18 months, he is more interested in the pictures and having me read the book or tell him about what is happening in the pictures. It is very sturdy and a perfect size for toddlers. The story line is about all you need for a one year old. Most of the trucks on our street pick up the cans and this book does not depict that, but the other day I think they were picking up yard clippings and when the truck came they loaded the contents of the garbage can into the truck by hand just like in the book. I am a retired early childhood educator, so when I saw it was a Scholastic book, I knew i probably would not be disappointed. This has been an addition to his library that he enjoys very much.

My two year old loves this book
I was a little worried when this arrived and it was only 5 pages long. I didn't think it would hold my son's attention at all, but he hasn't sat it down since I gave it to him on Valentine's Day. After less than a week the surface is peeling off the front (not because of bad quality, that's just how often it's used). When I sit down to read it with him he asks me to read it over and over ("again!") I read it 6 times last night before I made us move on to another book. I like that it has a regular garbage truck and a recycling garbage truck. A must for any little kids who are currently obsessed with trash trucks. I also got him "Trashy Town" by Andrea Zimmerman, and he loves that one as well.
