does it contain cocoa butter?

100% cacao would have cocoa butter in it. It's a natural part of the beans/nibs. It's why, for example, if you put raw nibs through a grinder you will eventually start seeing the cocoa butter coming out as it becomes pure "chocolate". They won't grind down into a powder because of the presence of the cocoa butter. HTH.

my old recipe calls for one squareof choc..How does that compare to the new packaging of four flat pieces?

One square = one ounce. The old recipes were based on the old style packages of 8 ounces with each ounce individually wrapped. Now you will use 1/4 of the 4oz package for one square.

What are all of the references to coconut? That is worrisome

You can but chocolate OR coconut in the same place (see buying options). Some people are reviewing the coconut flakes, and some are reviewing the chocolate.... The chocolate does not have any coconut in it ☺️

you ever see the videos of kids wanting to eat a spoonful of cocoa powder and when they do its horrible? same thing here. you don't eat this raw (unless you already know what this and want your regulation experience.)this is for baking and the die hard so dark its not candy chocolate lovers.the chocolate was safely wrapped in sealed foil and then the box. the chocolate was in the proper bar shape with squares and the color was very dark just like expected. Mr. Baker does well with his Baker's branded chocolate.

Good quality chocolate, but pricier than Walmart.

Chocolate was nice and fresh. I use it to make sugar free chocolate bars and it tastes great. Price is about $0.50 more than Walmart for each bar. In a pinch it is easy to order and get the next day.

Best Brownies Ever!!

This Baker's chocolate is getting harder and harder to find in the supermarket, so I like to purchase mine at Amazon. I use it primarily to make brownies. I don't like to use the powdered cocoa that most recipes call for. The brownies turn out very moist and tasty. They make the best brownies from scratch. This chocolate also makes a very tasty, moist, delicious chocolate cake.

This is basic unsweetened chocolate for cooking.It is reasonably priced. I have used this brand many times in the past.It is not gourmet chocolate, but it is suitable quality for baking, candy, chocolate frosting, melted for hot chocolate and anything else you'd use unsweetened cooking chocolate for.

My secret weapon in the kitchen

This Baker’s chocolate is super useful. I wouldn’t recommend eating it on its own as a snack due to its bitter taste; however, for baking it outperforms cocoa powder and chocolate chips. Having no added sugar, it allows you to properly limit, reduce, and precisely measure the sugar content of your baked goods.Sometimes I’ll even toss a square or two of this into sauces and stews to add a bit of subtle complexity.Despite ordering this in summer, it arrived intact and unmelted.
