Mirror Dash Cam Dash Camera for Cars, Backup Camera with Night Vision Full Laminated and Anti-Glare Display, 1080P Dual Dash Cam with Streaming Media (BOSCAM R2)

Was rear-ended recently (waiting at a traffic light). Made me realize I needed a dual dash cam. I selected a mirror dash cam as I display the rear view camera on it when I drive. (BTW: Makes you realize how little you see through your rear window using your mirror under normal circumstances). The high quality display (consisting of the entire mirror) provides a clear image under all lighting scenarios that I have encountered. For me it was a simple choice, I get the recording benefits of a dash cam plus the additional safety benefit of having a wide angle rear view displayed on my rear view mirror. This is useful to me every minute that I drive (not just when there is an accident as is the case when having just a dash cam). Lastly, customer service is great. Had a question and Lily responded quickly and made sure that I was taken care of.

Once installed several functions of the unit did not work. The screen lights up and keeps telling me to reinstall the SD card. The rear camera doesn't work when you select it. only the front camera works but the screen is not steady. it flickers constantly. I am not happy or satisfied with this dash cam nor would I recommend buying one.I HAVE TO ADMIT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH MY BATTERY. ONCE RECHARGED THE UNIT SEEMS TO WORK AS ADVERTISED. Sorry for the rash review. After I ride with it for a while I'll redo my review. Part of the instructions should be to check your battery.

Wow, I am really happy with this dash cam! I’ve had around 3-4 different dash cams installed on carries family members’ cars and this one definitely takes the cake. The quality of both front and rear cameras is superb and I love how sleek and unobtrusive the entire design is versus the typical rectangular-shaped dash cams with the ugly mounts.Install was a breeze and I really love how thin the front camera/rear view mirror is. This is perfect for my BMW Z3 that never came with any back up camera. I highly recommend this Boscam dash cam as it checks all the boxes for me (storage capacity, camera quality, ease of use, ease of installation, overall design).

Works great, and easy to install. It's just to heavy for my mirror. As long as it cool in the car the mirror mount is sufficient to hold the Mirror Dash Cam in place. As soon as it gets above 75F in the car it droops down. No way to tighten the mount.

I've had more problems with this device than I care to have had. Fortunately, there is a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel but not enough of one.CONS------------------------------------------------------The product is way too heavy and on every small bump it bends forward. This is extremely infuriating and I am looking for a way to fix it but it looks like I might need to purchase a mount for it to entirely replace my old one.The GPS is also very questionable. The speed it shows is almost always off by a few miles and in addition when speeding up quickly it will take a moment to catch back up and post your actual speed. For a while I was going 50 and it told me I was still traveling 15. (I'm not expecting instantaneous feedback but it took it much longer than I would have liked.)The backup lines are useless and don't work at all. They didn't even try making it look good. Basically just have to get use to the camera distance and base it off of that.For this price range and rating I was expecting something much better and just feel a little ripped off.The install was also a little frustrating. But I was aware of that coming into it and there isn't much they could do. However once done the cables are hidden nicely and it is almost indistinguishable from an original.PROS------------------------------------------------------The night camera quality is actually quite nice. The front camera isn't anything to write home about but it does the job and looks good enough.The fact that it can function as a normal rear-view mirror when you shut it off is great. I actually prefer the rear-view mirror to my OEM one. (That is whenever it isn't pointing down.)The added software is a little quirky but it does the job and is a nice addition.

Boscam R2 Mirror Dash cam is reasonably priced and the system includes all the features you need. It is easy to install and clear night and day with a large screen. It records front and back at the same time and the 1080p is very crisp. The motion detection begins recording immediately so you don’t miss anything. Because this system is Sony, you know it is good quality and will give you years of service. I highly recommend the Sony Boscam R2 Mirror dash cam if you are looking for quality at half the price of competitive models. Eric Senger

The media could not be loaded. Update: it got pixel dots all over and shuts down randomly. I'm returning it.

Looking for a rear view camera mirror for my Ultima Evolution build. No expense spared. I purchased this as a lark just to get an idea how a video set up would be installed. I was looking at the Gentex GNTX-R (>$2000.00). The local Gentex rep got a GNTX-R system and we compared. The BOSCAM outperformed the GNTX-R in bright light, low light, color rendition, actual view window size and acquisition speed of image. The rep was more than happy to return the GNTX-R. In short I purchased 2 more BOSCAM's to place in storage and installed the initial BOSCAM I purchased.Saved over $1500.00 in the process.
