Hobart770843 Replacement Headgear, 1 Count (Pack of 1)

This fits well and is comfortable. Don't always hold the helmet stiffly but if you need to adjust it as you go its easy to do with this one. Fits perfectly on the Hobart helmet and adjusts as it should.

Works as advertised, but I had to slip in a piese of sandpaper to increase the friction. This prevents overtightening the nuts. Easy to install.

It was a direct replacement. It is still plastic and subject to break if you tighten it too much.

Built pretty solid. Will buy again if the need arises.

Good price and seems to be fair quality. Haven’t had time to really see how long it lasts.

Purchased to replace the OE headband on my auto-dark helmet which broke. Was an exact replacement which fit perfectly.

For some odd reason, the "swing limiter", as I call it, would not work on the right side of my hood as the original liner. I had to switch it over to the left side and drill a new hole on the left side of the hood for the nylon pin to stick into and catch the swing limiter. It took a while to figure out why the holding screws kept popping apart, like the adjusting nuts had insufficient thread engagement. That is because THEY DIDN'T! I took all the parts off the liner and laid them on the table and determined that one plastic part (originally on the right side) was at least an eighth of an inch longer, thus providing more thread engagement when the swing limiter was installed. I switched all the right side parts to the left side and now everything works. Sorry I took no pictures of the modification, but I think anybody that needs to modify the liner for their hood and figure it out from my description.Original liner was nylon and lasted >40 years. This one is cheap ABS plastic, so I might get a couple of years use out of it and that is why I am rating it a 3 star. My hood has the 4.5" x 5.25" lens, which are getting hard to find. Everybody wants automatic hoods now days. I use this for teaching. Students can wear the hood with a big lens and see all they need to see.
