Great kit but ultimately unsuccessful.
The kit itself doesn't contain anything too exotic; substrate, bags, instructions, even the box itself. It's well put together though and the instructions, while lengthy, were sufficiently clear that I didn't feel lost at any point.Sending away for the fresh spawn was a painless email and I received it promptly. I probably wouldn't gift somebody this kit based on having to send away, but it would be a positive were I to purchase it for myself again. I understand that having the freshest spawn gives the best possible chance of success.Assembling the kit took a bit because there's a certain amount of waiting for things to cool down and drain, but it was easy enough. Not the most pleasant tactile experience to distribute the spawn amongst wet straw but very tolerable.Unfortunately having waited the requisite time, and a little beyond, it would appear the mushrooms have failed to colonise the substrate as there is no visible mycelium around any of the openings I had previously cut into the bag. I'll break the whole thing open later to check if it tried to get started anywhere. The temperature was well within the range mentioned in the instructions so I'm not sure what went wrong.Rated three stars as it would have been five stars if it worked, and I suspect the failing was my own in some way or other. I have successfully grown mushrooms previously but not frequently and I've always used a kit, so though I wasn't a first-timer I was relying heavily on the kit for the whole thing.

Unsuccessful
Started to shoot, then all died. Dissappointing

Bit pricey for what you get... but they are unusual plants though!
Bought for my plant fanatic wife...unusual things... and the hilarious part is the seeds contained in the box are literally like specs of dust! Should be interesting to grow.

Expensive, but nice.
Nice little kit for what it is, except that there are very few of the very tiny seeds, you would need multiple packs to achieve the look on the box. I am still waiting for mine to germinate but that could take some time still, due to the low quantity of seed and the expected 25% loss with any sewing, it's likely that I will end up with just between 4 and 6 plants. That is fine, except the price of the kit renders them the most expensive seeds I have ever bought. You can get a pack of 200 of these seeds elsewhere for £2.50 (I discovered this retrospectively). Also, one thing the instructions don't say is to put the seeds on a small piece of paper to put them in the pots, I would advise this as they are incredibly small.14/7/2020: I have 2.

Nice plants!
Only reason why I've given a 3 star is based on price. I think it's a nice gift set for somebody. I personally only think it's worth 8quid. The seeds are like specs of dust. From other reviews were sure if they would grow. But they have. I have 12 i think thats all im getting. On week 2 i saw them just about growing. Pictures nearly week 4. Because I had doubts they would grow I bought seeds online on a seeds only website they cost 5quid a packet. Can get them cheaper. I bought kit for myself. Can't wait to see them grow more over the months.
