In this fascinating best seller, Cherry Hill explores the way horses think and how it affects their behavior. Explaining why certain smells and sounds appeal to your horseโs sensibility and what sets off his sudden movements, Hill stresses how recognizing the thought processes behind your horseโs actions can help you communicate effectively and develop a trusting relationship based on mutual respect. Review: Very informative and easy to understand! - I enjoyed reading this book so much. The author writes in just enough details to understand the concepts and the "why" behind everything. It's a great way to start learning about horses, but I even think established horsepeople will find it helpful too! The photos and illustrations are great. Highly recommend. Review: Your horse wants you to read this - This book deserves a place on every horse persons book shelf. Itโs full of useful information and insight into horse behavior, and the horse/human relationship. The writer speaks to you intelligently and with confidence that only years of horse experience can convey. I think every horse person can take something useful away from reading this book, regardless of experience.

Good book!
I grew up with horses, but have not had them in about 20 years. As I am ready to get back to being a horse owner, and I recently purchased 3 horses, I needed a few reminders on handling and caring for horses. Ms. Hill's book was just what I needed! I would recommend this book for anyone who is new to horses, or needs a refresher on caring for horses. It really gave me some good insight, and I am now going on 2 months of being a happy horse owner (more importantly, my horses are happy because I have been consistent in their training, and feeding schedules).

Easy to read and understand
Cherry Hill's books are always very useful and easy reading. She has a way of stating things in a very simple but informative way. You can't go wrong with her books. This book is great if you have a casual interest in learning about horse behavior. It gives a lot of basic logic behind why horses do what they do. If you were intrigued by the study of horses, I would recommend "The Nature of Horses" by Stephen Budiansky as a more in depth study of the subject.

Great book!
I'm not much of a book person but I could not put this down!! It is a very well written book. Haven owned horses before It did seem a little repetitive, but it's always nice to brush up on the basics. I like how it included a list of behavioral problems and how to correct them, such as cribbing. I overall really enjoyed this book and even learned some new things!

Great book
Excellent book in learning how to get in the mindset of your horse or just any horse and how they got to that point. I would recommend this book and also the "What every horse should know". I'm just a beginner, though, so take a little from every book to find that sweet spot where I am the Alpha but treat them with respect. They are very honorable creatures. They can get irritated, but hold no grudges like man does and want to help as long as they are given respect for what they do for us.

This was a great book for someone who had never been around horses before.
The first book that I read when I started volunteering at a horse rescue that actually had a wealth of information and taught me things I needed to know.
