Old Tamyia Hornet RC "Hump Back" Battery Replacement
I had an old, mid 1980s, Hornet Radio Controlled Car Kit that I wanted to get running again but the battery had died years ago and I could find a replacement over time. I was looking for the NiCd type of battery so my old charger could still be used. I could not find exact battery pack measurements but estimated the Racer's Edge size based on the typical single cell size. I looked like this might be a tight fit but could work. So I ordered it and took the chance. I tried it in the Hornet when it came and it was a tight fit but it fit. I turned on the RC control and tested the steering and then the motor. It all responded like new. I charged it even though it had a charge on it when I got it. (NiCds run down naturally, it is always best to charge any NiCd before use. Lithium is a different story.) Plugged the new battery in the Hornet body and everything was off and running around my basement. The battery also is 1800 mAh versus the original 1200mAh hump back battery because the newer cell technology over the years. Now that it works great, I plan to wow my grandson as much as it did my son so many years ago.

Good, but wide... and 2 out of 4 already starting to wear.
The ends are too wide for my Tamiya CW01 chassis, WR02 chassis, and CC01 chassis where the battery holder bracket does not fit without forcing it on. I have been using 4 of these 1800mAh the last few months and already 2 of them are not holding a good charge as it did before. As far as my handling of NiCds, I use a digital peak charger and conditioner every 10 cycles. I also do not recharge batteries more than once every 24hrs to ensure cool cells. My other NiCds from other brands are doing fine, I have 10+ sub-c packs I made 15yrs ago that are holding perfect charge even today.I recommend one to get the Duratrax 1800mAh if NiCd. I have 2 of those I bought from Amazon and both are still holding very good charge.

Either it works or is DOA.
Yes it worked in my Vacuum cleaner portable. So then I hooked it up to my Radio that powered it to. So I gotta bit frisky, tried to power my PC with it. YES that worked to! So I tried to start my Toyota Tacoma V8 Truck with this little battery. Shazaam! My truck turned over! I couldn't believe it. Now lets think BIGGER. I cut my main power lines going into my house. Hooked the battery up & what ya know. Yes, it powered my whole house. This indeed is a portable powered mini nuclear device. But hey, if you need it to power a remote control small scale vehicle yeah it can can do that...

Works great on my Swiffer
See my user submitted product picture. I attached this to my Swiffer because the stock battery was dead and not procurable. It still works great almost two years later. I just purchased another to fix my mom's Swiffer also. The old battery was removed and this one was soldered onto the wires where the original attached.

Racers Edge 1800 Nicad packs are horrible for spec RC racing applications
Racers Edge 1800 Nicad packs are horrible for spec RC racing applications. I have four of these batteries and they all peak below 10 volts. Save your time and money and buy the Onyx/Duratrax batteries instead. Much more power, and more run time.
