K is for Knifeball: An Alphabet of Terrible Advice

Hilarious book and so nice to know there are other whimsically, lyrically warped-beyond-mst3k minds out there who mean no one any harm but can't help but laugh at least inwardly when stupid comes calling to collect on someone. My mother used to say it takes pain to be beautiful whenever I'd cry out when she'd nip too close cutting my hair. In a similar vein, I think stupidity should always be painful. It has been for me everytime I've tried it. I love this book because it proves to me that I'm not alone. It seems like me and my friends were always just one easy bad decision away from death or at the very least lots of pain and this book shows that I have tons of company in that regard.

Bought for a birthday gift. Recipient was thrilled. Very funny book.

Hilarious that the co-host of Game Grumps also played knifeball, what are the odds? My brother Brian literally had a ball just like that. This book is written for adults to aid in remembering all the cringy dangerous things they did growing up. The best!

Really enjoyed this book! Not for kids, but hilarious for parents. Well written and funny! Made a great birthday present!

Cute Gag gift. Some funny pages and others seem too childlike to be funny for an adult's sense of humor.

I wanted this book for a while and finally got it. I laughed my way through more than once. I might re-gift it at some point, but not until I'm done looking at it and laughing. A true classic for twisted minds.

I bought this for my 11-yr old daughter, but knew that her older brother & sister (15 both) would enjoy it as well. The rhymes are yes absolutely FILLED with bad advice and dry humor is the prevailing charm of this book. I would not recommend this for children who are not of an age where they don't get the concept of sarcasm. Examples such as Blender - put Daddy's wallet in there and turn it on might not be so funny if it actually had a chance of happening... I DO recommend this book for children & ADULTS who have a sincerely twisted perspective on the world or adults with that twisted-ness trying to nurture the same in their older children. A very good buy and will be investing in other materials from these authors.

I bought this as a gift for my 22 year old brother who was graduating from college as a deviation from the normal books that one gets for graduation. I read it before giving it to him and almost thought about keeping it for myself. Once he got it on graduation day he read it and though I had already heard what the book had to say, there is just something about the way that it is written to make you laugh again. Throughout the day, he read it or showed it to everyone that was in and out. This book is definitely not a traditional alphabet book for someone of a very young age; however, I believe that the range of people that can enjoy this book is very wide. I for one LOVE it!

一見したところ子供向けのアルファベット絵本であるが、副題のan alphabet of terrible adviceが暗示するようになかなか恐ろしいそしてユーモラスな本である。Ｇを引いてみる。G is for Grandma. Remind her that she’ll be dead soon.(G はGadmaのG. (忘れているかもしれないから)まもなくこの世からおさらばすることを思い出させてあげなさい）とある。これなどほんの小手先でもっともっと恐ろしいアドバイスが満載である。 書名のK is for Knifeball というのもジョークである。Knifeball という語は英語の語彙に存在しない（評者は念のためにOED3(online)まで引いて確かめた）ボールにナイフを貼り付けてknifeballである（この語にはアドバイスなし）。ナンセンス語ではまじめなアルファベット絵本になり得ない。そこが著者の狙いである。Terrible advice には評者の理解力を超えるものもあった。英語力を試す意味でこの絵本を買ってはいかがでしょう。

If it isn't obvious to you: this book is not intended for young children. My favourite is "I's for identity, easily stolen. Take someone's credit card. Boom! Now you're Nolan." Good for a laugh, a joke gift, bathroom reading material for guests, etc.
