Great for overall understanding! Macro level view of sharepoint.
I enjoyed that this book was a great overview kind of book for Sharepoint, but it wasn't all encompassing for what I needed. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars. Very easy to read.

Uninformative
If you already have access to SharePoint, you can get everything this book has to offer by using the help files. I was very disappointed at spending my own money for a book that doesn't tell me much that I didn't already know.

Great starting point
This book is great for beginners and a wonderful reference guide for the rest of us. It is well written and easy to find items that you are looking for.

good information
I have no experience with SharePoint. I know it is a popular program today. I think this book is a great way to get started learning the fundamentals of the program.

Nice book
Shares in a simple way what SharePoint is all about. For non-IT people. It is written in a clear way.

It is a good book but I wanted more of a development book
It is a good book but I wanted more of a development book. Its good just not exactly what I needed.

Great first step
There is so much to learn about SharePoint. This is a great first step in tackling the enormous capabilities of SharePoint.

Great for beginners, not much use for the experienced
This book is designed for people who know very little about SharePoint from an application usage perspective. Readers who have used previous versions, especially MOSS 2007 and earlier, will find it useful to show "this is how you do XYZ in SP 2013". However, it is of little value to people who already know SharePoint 2010 in depth from an operational perspective, there are a couple of chapters that cover new things but this information can easily be found on technet/MSDN. It also covers nothing in terms of application development.I am writing this review from the persecptive of someone who has been using MOSS 2007 and SharePoint 2010 as part of my day job for the last five years. Someone with a different level of experience may rate it higher.

aAnswered (almost) all my questions
This is the first book I've come across that is not just an inadequate rehash of earlier editions produced for SP2007 or SP 2010. It really does get into the subject from a fresh perspective, one that is firmly planted in the shoes of the user. It makes it possible to easily understand how this new functionality can be applied to good effect. Any criticisms? I would like to see a version of the book that addresses the Office365 audience only, rather than one aimed at all possible constituents. But this is a minor issue, and the author handles the distinctions we'll.

Easy to follow
Excellent book to follow. Lots of on line training available but I like to have the book open next to the screen as I find it useful when solving a problem

this book is just too simplistic - i feel like i brought the idiots guide although i have used it. the problem with sharepoint 2013 is really that it is so customizable that it is difficult to get the level right in a book of this nature
