Unofficial knock-off may damage your computer or start a fire
This is not an official Xbox PC adapter, but tries hard to pass off as one.The item sells for MSRP and says it's new, but does not come in any kind of box--just some plastic bubble wrap. When I plugged it in, the computer did not recognize it at all. No drivers installed, no lights, nothing in the Device Manager. I was just going to return it, but figured I'd give them a second chance. My replacement shipped quickly, but it too would not connect or be recognized by the computer. However, after about 20 seconds of being plugged in, my computer popped up a warning that there was an irregular electric surge on a USB port. When I unplugged the adapter, the metal touched my hand and it was hot enough to burn me.Don't waste your time. Go through MS or Best Buy and wait for the backordered real item.

Defective or Bootleg - Don't buy from here (get from Microsoft directly)
Bought this supposed brand new adapter. It came in a plastic bag and envelope. That was the first sign that this was not legit. I decided to give it a go, so long as it worked I would accept it.It connected with the controller upon inserting into my PC and going through the initial sync process, but every time I came out of sleep or turned the computer on from off it would not sync. It would not even respond to reactivating the sync process (pressing the button)...I would have to pull out and reinsert again. This was annoying. Returned, and amazon reimbursed as soon as I dropped off to UPS.Note that I tried this adapter with multiple computers and multiple controllers. Same thing. Defective unit.

Old Version
I, like so many others, bought this under the impression that, you know, it would be what is shown in the picture. Pretty unreasonable right? I did not receive the newer model that is smaller and slimmer, instead I received the old huge one that takes up half of the back of your PC.Additionally, it has scratch marks on it and definitely used. It does, by some miracle, work however.I'm keeping it because I need a wireless adapter and it does the job. But very misleading to show one thing and ship another.

Fell apart out of the package.
Maybe I got a random bad one. But, I opened the package and went straight to installation, the item fell apart while plugging it into the usb port.A refund is being issued thru Amazon, but you're better off buying licensed Microsoft equip in this case, is my opinion.

NOT genuine
This is NOT a genuine Microsoft adapter. There is no Xbox logo on it, the headphone jack on the bottom of the controller does not work, the USB plug barely fits in the jack and when you plug it in it pops an error message saying it would be faster if you plugged it into a USB 3.0 jack even when it IS plugged into a USB 3.0 jack.Garbage. Do not buy.

check drivers before returning
I thought this prodict didn't work, and the microsoft wensite was unhelpful, however I searched for aforum post that fixed it.In windows 10, you can look for the stick in device managaer, mine said it didn't have a driver, to fix this I:Settings>Update and Security>Check for updates>View Optional Updates>Driver Updatesin that list there was a driver called windows wireless adapter, I installed that and it worked fine

Does the job
This USB adaptor makes it easy to pair your Xbox One controller, which is great if you switch between PC and Xbox. If you have a dedicated controller for PC you probably don’t need adaptor (unless you don’t have Bluetooth). The adaptor is fairly small and discreet, but the signal could be improved. I occasionally lose connection or experience input lag with my controller 3-4 feet away from the adaptor. Not a huge issue but I felt it was worth noting/sharing.

Have to remove/re-add after sleep every time
This thing works really well when my Elite 2 is paired but it unfortunately never seems to stayed paired through sleep/reboot. I always have to unplug it from the USB port and plug it back in, then my Elite will pair right up.I also get the "this device will perform faster if used with USB 3.0, but it's definitely in a 3.0 ports. Though, from what I've read, both of these issues are common with Microsoft's own adapter. That's really annoying, but still more tolerable than the built-in bluetooth which just couldn't be relied on at all, and since Microsoft stopped making these themselves, there's not a lot of alternatives.
