Get Rich Or Die Tryin' Music From & Inspired By

I didn't like this album when it 1st came out but the more I saw the movie, the more I got into the material. Every song really fits the G-Unit group and family but none moreso for me than When It Rains, It Pours. Instant classic. Once 50 got rich, he could stop tryin because he made it with nothing more to prove.

This is a must have soundtrack every track is a hit!

I like the combination of hard lyrics, dance mixes, and a whole lotta get-down! It was money well spent and it is an album I've listened to many times since I bought it.

50 Cent is one of the most sought after commodities in general within pop culture today. People love 50 Cent (and of course some hate him). The fact that 50 has released a movie that truly chronicles his coming to be-his escapades as a drug dealer and the fact that he has been shot 9 times- will no doubt be a big film at the box office. While the movie may be great, the soundtrack itself falls to the plague that a majority of soundtracks fall susceptible to-it isn't great, it is merely average. Truthfully, the soundtrack does have its high points, which for the most part is where 50 Cent is the one rapping himself or collaboratively. The tracks that lack 50 Cent on them completely tend to also lack true hit material and etc... Furthermore, at points, the soundtrack tends to get too repetitive where the arrangement and production is concerned; it is incredibly trying to find 1 song that doesn't feature a sample or a loop that isn't repeated to the excess. Maybe to non-musicians that won't bother some, but to the producer and to the musician, you get a feeling through the repetitiveness that this was rushed project that doesn't have the caliber of material that neither 50 Cent nor his entourage featured on their respective solo albums. This also just doesn't seem as up to snuff by 50 Cent's standards or Dr. Dre's standards. With that said, this album is not bad, and if you are a "G-Unit Unit" fan, then you will gladly embrace this album to your collection. For those who want 50 Cent at his best, look on to Get Rich Or Die Tryin' (studio album) or his most recent release, The Massecre. Here is a rundown of the songs: 1. Hustlers Ambition (50 Cent)- The production here is very minimalist, yet it is effective. I like the song, but it isn't up to the caliber of Fiddy's best work. 4/5 2. What If (50 Cent)- a nice song as well, despite the lack of 50's normal charisma features a nice sample. 4/5 3. Things Change (Spider Loc, 50 Cent)- has a somewhat annoying hook that repeats "Things Change", but not a bad track. 3/5 4. You Already Know (Lloyd Banks, Young Buck)- this collaboration between Young Buck and Lloyd Banks comes over as too repetitive, anti-climatic, and boring overall. The production is minimalist once again and doesn't add any excitability to this track. 2.5/5 5. When Death Becomes You (M.O.P., 50 Cent) - this track features a very cool looped piano riff, but other than that, it isn't really anything breathtaking. 2.5/5 6. Have A Party (Mobb Deep, 50 Cent)- features excellent performances by Mobb Deep and 50 Cent with very good production. 3.5/5 7. We Both Think Alike (50 Cent, Olivia)- isn't a stellar track, but the production is very unique and outside the box. 3/5 8. Don't Need No Help (Young Buck)- Clearly filler material; no real substance or depth within this track with slightly over subdued production. 2.5/5 9. Get Low (Lloyd Banks)- good productions, but filler material. 2.5/5 10. Fake Love (Tony Yayo)- let's face it, Yayo is the weakest member of G-Unit based upon his debut album and upon this "floptastic" rap performance. 2/5 11. Window Shopper (50 Cent) not bad, but not extremely great; better than the three preceding tracks. 3/5 12. Born Alone, Die Alone (Lloyd Banks)- rather bland. 2/5 13. You A Shooter (50 Cent, Mobb Deep)- this collaboration between Mobb Deep and 50 doesn't come over nearly as effective as "Have A Party". 2/5 14. I Don't know Officer (Prodigy, 50 Cent)- While this track is too long, it saves a dying album with a nice piano riff supporting 50's thuggish rhymes. 3.5/5 15. Talk About Me (50 Cent)- nice catchy hook. 3/5 16. When It Rains It Pours (50 Cent)- nice production, but this track is boring. 2.5/5 17. Best Friend (50 Cent)- nice production and use of sampling here. The mood change is a needed one to contrast the overall thuggish mood on this album. The hook is incredibly catchy. 4/5 18. I'll Whip Ya Head Boy (Young Buck, 50 Cent)- nice production and an alright ending to the album. 3.5/5 While this album serves its ultimate purpose, I think that had more time been invested, 50 Cent could've had another The Massacre on his hands. Unfortunately, this isn't The Massacre, yet for 50's hardcore fans, this will most likely serve its purpose. 3 stars.

Nach 50 Cents Autobiographie-Gangster-Film "Get Rich Or Die Tyrin'" folgte sehr bald der offizielle Soundtrack von und mit der G-Unit. Alle Zeichen standen auf ein kompromissloses Rap-Album in bester New Yorker Tradition. Ob man den Film nun wie ich total gut fand oder als gekünstelt empfindet, diese CD ist in meinen Augen sogar ein Grund, sich noch einmal auf ihn einzulassen. Neben den bekannten Künstlern die auf der Platte mitwirken (Nate Dogg, Mobb Deep, The Prodigy, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck und Tony Yayo) sind auch weniger populäre Namen vertreten, etwa M.O.P. (spielen eine Gruppe Dealer in "State Property 2"), Mase oder Spider Loc. Die Singles "Hustlers Ambition" (echter East-Coast-Rap) und "Window Shopper" (geniales Lied zum chillen mit allen möglichen Instrumenten) sind unbestritten echte Hochkaräter, mein persönlicher Favorit bleibt aber "When It Rains It Pours", ein ruhiger Beat, traurige, ernste Lyrics, 50 Cent in Höchstform und eine E-Gitarre im Santana-Stil bilden zusammen mit Regen- und Donnersound wie in "Riders on the Storm" (Doors) einen einfach nur genialen Track. Dr. Dre leistet hier ganze Arbeit. Die bereits genannten Gäste tun ihr Übriges, Nate Dogg's Sahne-Stimme brillirt neben 50 Cent und Mobb im Feier-Track "Have A Party". Etwas ruppiger lassen es M.O.P. in "When Death Becomes You" angehen, Waffensounds und aggressive Lyrics werden regelrecht ins Mic geschrien. Nicht weniger energisch geht es in "I'll Whip Ya Head Boy" zu (Bonustrack, am Anfang des Filmes zu hören), eine Trompete und deftiger Bass bis zum Abwinken. Etwas ruhiger sind "Fake Love" oder "You A Shooter" (feat. Mobb Deep), zu lahm ist jedoch keiner der 18 Tracks. Und 18 ist hier eine ernstzunehmende Zahl: keine Intro, Outro oder Interludes/Skits stören den Fluss des Albums. Das gesamte Album ist sehr abwechsulngsreich, nie hat man das Gefühl, dass sich zwei Tracks zu sehr ähneln. Wirklich schwache Tracks gibt es meiner Meinung nach nicht, je nach Geschmack könnten dem einen die Specialeffects (Schüsse, "G-Unit"-Schreie und sonstiges Dazwischengeplappere) auf die Nerven gehen, ein anderer findet einige Lieder zu aggressiv oder zu langsam. Die positive Variante: für jeden Geschmack ist was dabei. Eines der wenigen Alben, die man ohne Titel zu überspringen komplett durchören kann. Die Texte sind für ein Rap-Album oft überraschend ernst, oft keine Spur vom immer gleichen Proll-Gehabe, wie man es von 50 Cent zu genüge gewohnt ist. Sicherlich einer der besten Soundtracks bis heute und das letzte "echte" Rap-Album von 50 Cent, der Nachfolger "Curtis" schlägt leider in die gleiche Kerbe wie Timberland, Kanye West und Co. Und für aktuell nich einmal 7 Euro (das sind zwei Döner Leute!!!) kann sich wohl keiner beschweren. Selbst wer mit G-Unit (oder Hip Hop allgemein) bisher nicht viel am Hut hatte, kann hier einen Blick riskieren.
