Good for strong chewers
My dogs are aggressive chewers and they get bored easily. This helped so much with both of those issues. I've been filling them with peanut butter, and they are entertained with licking/chewing for quite some time. I'm very happy with my purchase because my dogs have gone through other toys very quickly. These seem pretty durable to withstand the chewing. I'm very satisfied with my purchase!

Great for Excessive Chewers and Eaters
I decided to get the Kong Extreme toy for my then 9-year-old dog in Sept. 2010, after her older sister passed away a few days before. I figured we both could have used the distraction. I learned ages ago that most toys couldn't hold up against my two Australian Cattle Dogs, since they didn't just happily gnaw on things, they'd try to eat it. In fact, they tried to eat a number of things, from fabrics to meticulously eating the lining off tennis balls and soft balls. Nothing was safe, especially against the youngest, who has some OCD issues. I'd be lucky to see a tough toy last a day, much less a month. Like the rest, I didn't think this toy would stand a chance, but it's still holding up well almost a year later. My dog isn't a strong chewer, like a doberman or pit, but very meticulous. She and her sister would go at something for hours if you let them, until nothing was left. Because of this, I also need to choose soft toys, rather than something hard, because she'll wear her teeth down if you let her. Fortunately, this manages to stand up to her obsessive chewing, but it also doesn't wear the teeth down, which I love. I'm thinking of getting a new one, even though the current could probably last another few months. I'm just now seeing some wear along the seams, despite her every effort to conquer and destroy it. I'm mainly getting it just to be on the safe side, so that I don't risk it falling apart while I'm not watching her, and just for the sake of cleanliness. These are extremely durable and easy to clean. They do have a strong odor when you first open them up, but it fades relatively quickly. I let ours soak it in hot/vinegar water for a while, then rinsed it well and left it out in the sun for a few hours. Seemed to help a little. They can also be loud when dogs chew on them, which can be annoying if you're trying to watch TV, but I find it well worth it, even if my partner doesn't agree during football time. I love the fact that these toys bounce unpredictably, although I would be careful around furniture if you plan to bounce it off the floor or toss it. I got into the habit of using it down our long hallway, referring to it as Dog Bowling, which she loves. She also didn't need food as incentive to get into it (just me playing with it and making it out to be a big deal), which is great, since that just means less cleaning and less weight gain in my book, although I do put treats in it now and then, if my partner and I are leaving the house and plan to be gone awhile. My dog's around around 30 lbs. and is medium sized, but has had no trouble tackling the larger-sized version, which was the only size available through Amazon at the time. I may get the medium-sized toy soon, just because she's reaching 10 and she'll go at it for ages. This is a great toy for obsessive chewers in particular, and I highly recommend it to dog lovers. I just wish we'd found out about them sooner! I'm also happy to report that she has stopped chewing on random things), like blankets and clothing, as much as she used to. If she does start up, it's because she can't find her Kong. I may also get the bone version and will review on that if I do.

Surprised at how well these are lasting
I used to give my 3 dogs Nylabones, until we ended up with broken teeth. They LOVE them, but I don't love the vet bills or hearing that horrible "CRACK" sound. Our vet recommended these, I didn't want to even bother because I was 99% sure my biggest boy (who murders tennis balls in an instant) would just eat the thing. (My dogs are on the smaller side; 40 lbs, 25 lbs, 15 lbs - all mutts of questionable ancestry, but biggest 2 are heavy chewers.) I also noticed a strong "rubbery" smell when I first opened it and thought he might not like it (compared to the bacon-flavored Nylabones) But to my amazement, he LOVES the Kong and despite chewing on it daily it's in really good shape. My 2 smallest dogs can get their mouths into the main opening but so far just use that as a way to carry the Kong off to a corner to gnaw on. I bought 2 more for a total of 3 of these, I inspect them every morning and so far I'm honestly shocked that they're holding up so well. Not one bit of rubber is missing so far. (Been about a month now) In the mornings I fill all 3 with kibble and hide them around the house before I let the beasties out of their crates. It gives them a fun way to start the morning and keeps them busy while I'm getting the day going, they love the hide and go seek. They roll and carry and bump the Kongs around for probably 30 minutes to get every last bit of kibble out and then will settle down for a good chewing session. If I need more time I just hide the Kongs better or do a second round! Those noses always find them eventually. My biggest dog has also recently discovered that he can drop a Kong at the top of the stairs and it will bounce randomly all the way down, which he loves to do and then chase and snatch before one of the other two dogs can get it (show off). Awesome! He's 15 years old now and anything that keeps him interested and active is a big bonus to me, especially if it's something that doesn't involve my constant attention. He has a lot of anxiety issues and keeping him occupied is HUGE. (I work from home.) He pretty much always has a Kong in his mouth now, which is especially hilarious when he barks through the hole in it! I think his main disappointment with them is that he really can't figure out how to carry more than one at a time - he loved hogging the Nylabones but he can't quite manage it with the Kongs. The other two dogs are perfectly happy with that! TL; DR: These are a big win so far in my household. Durable, and keeps them occupied in several ways.

Highly recommended for extreme chewers who destroy most every other toy or chew.
The extreme Kong is perfect for you heavy to extreme chewer, my Seven a Heinz 57 mix has the strongest jaws of any dog I have ever owned and she tears apart just about everything we give her to chew on. She can demolish a thick bully stick in just hours. So when I saw this as we were replacing all our old Kongs that have just sort of dried out and started to crack over the years (they are about 9 years old) I got this for Seven so she can chew to her hearts content without the possibility of having the Kong tear up in her mouth and possibly swallowing pieces of rubber. I am delighted with this Kong and the years of chewing pleasure it will give our Seven. I highly recommend Genuine Kong products to anyone who has dogs. They have a hole at each end if you are stuffing them with peanut butter, cheese or in my case plain Greek yogurt, blueberries and usually a doggie cookie or two in the large end to get them interested. Please put a dab of peanut on the small end to keep the contents in the Kong instead of drizzling out. I then freeze the Kong and the dogs can enjoy a frozen treat mid-day in the Hot southwest during the summer, during the winter I usually put in doggie Cheese filling and some peanut butter (sometimes I use the Kong Peanut butter). This keeps every busy for a very long time. Sometimes we just stuff them with Kong treats or other treats and top them off with some real human peanut butter. Please remember that any treats you put in the Kong should be good for dogs and not have too many calories unless you are feeding them the Kong (contents) as a meal. Calories from human food can kill your dog. They cannot eat the number of fat calories humans eat and digest it well. So go sparingly with the Peanut butter, cheese spread (unless you use the doggie kind) or other human foods. Yogurt, especially Greek Yogurt gives dogs a great treat, probiotics and has less calories than even the Kong peanut butter or cheese spread. Many treats may give your dog the runs, may increase kidney and liver disease and cause diabetes as well as obesity. I highly recommend this product for any dog that likes to search for food or has the desire to chew all the time.

Great product but choose a size or two up
Nice quality toy for long lasting and engaging play! One star docked for the sizing—I don't usually expect to need an xl anything for my 45lb border collie but he cant even fit his canine teeth into the large size to ease the jerky reward out in "hard" position but "easy" position he doesn't even tough the toy just grabs the jerky. Got an XL and it has been great for the jerky both easy and hard positioning. The larges I keep around for liquidy and frozen treats to keep the mess contained and they work very well for that.

Durable chew for chewers
Pros 🐾 Extremely durable black natural rubber designed for power chewers. 🦴 Can be stuffed with treats, peanut butter, or kibble to provide mental stimulation and reduce boredom. 🎾 Unpredictable bounce makes fetch more engaging and interactive. ⭐ Highly rated by thousands of owners, averaging around 4.5/5 stars from over 4,500 reviews. 🐕 Many owners of aggressive chewers report the toy lasts months or even years when other toys fail. 😌 Helpful for reducing separation anxiety when filled with treats and given during alone time. Cons ⚠️ Not truly indestructible; some powerful chewers can still puncture or tear it. ⚠️ Several long-time users report that newer versions may not be as durable as older KONG toys. 💰 More expensive than many standard dog toys. 📏 Choosing the wrong size can increase the risk of damage and reduce safety. ⚖️ Heavier than some comparable toys, which may not suit all dogs for fetch. Best For: Large breeds, aggressive chewers, dogs that need enrichment, treat-dispensing activities, and reducing boredom. Not Ideal For: Dogs that quickly destroy rubber toys or owners expecting a completely indestructible chew toy.

Most loved toy of my 2 yr old American Bully
I just adopted a 23Kg American Bully. He came with the classic wide jaw and bite strength, so I got the Extreme. Of all his toys, this is the one he is most possessive of. This is the one he chooses when he is most excited. This is the one i leave him with so that my furniture is safe when I leave the house and have to leave him home alone. It has chipped a little on the edge of the larger size, but it seems to be nowhere near falling apart or being unusable. And he really really goes at it! He loves it even more than real bones (never seen this in another dog). Very glad I bought this toy for him.
