Very nice headphones for the price
I'm comparing these to some really good expensive headphones, specifically BOSE QC-2 headphones. Now, that might not be a fair comparison, but I think it helps to see what three-hundred gets you for the BOSE set and what thirty (yes, just one tenth the price) gets you for the Philips set, and if money is an issue, then these Philips headphones are pretty good!Bose uses electronics to generate what I call, anti-noise, to cancel out the background noise you'd hear - thus letting you hear just the music better. Philips uses big ear cups to cover your ears well, so that the noise does not get in... and it helps, but not as well as Bose's noise-canceling product.Bose needs a AAA battery to run the electronics, Philips does not.Bose has a smaller flimsier, wire from the headset to your music device, Philips uses a larger stronger wire, might hold up better than Bose, but in the nearly 10 years that I've had Bose headsets I've never had a wire go bad.Bose gives you a nice traveling case, nothing comes with the Philips set.Bose sits easier on my head, lighter, does not pinch my head as tight, but Philips is pretty good, and I don't have a lot of hair so comfort on my head is important to me, and I could live with the Philips, especially for one tenth the cost of Bose.

Sound muffled to my ears
I've been using Philips headphones contentedly for several years. My latest set are SHP430, and I've been delighted with them. They were inexpensive, reasonably comfy, but most importantly, they sound shockingly good for the price.Context: I'm using these to listen to my iPod, while working, walking, etc.The SHL3300s were a big disappointment, sadly.Pros:- Construction is wondrous. Heavy, solid, etc.- The actual cans are massive, and fit snugly, blocking out ambient noise thoroughly.Cons:- Did I miss something saying these are noise-cancelling? These sound muffled to me. No high end at all, never mind clarity and/or separation.- They are too snug, for my gigantic cranium anyway. So, if you want to block out noise, including the high-end of the music you're listening to, and you have a reasonably-sized noggin, have at it.For me, I'm off to Best Buy, to listen before I buy.

Good Start for Audio Quality
So I bought these for $20 on a sale. I read reviews about their sound quality for the price. My current set is definitely not audiophile quality. I wear a pair of Siberias with a USB soundcard from the Tactics Alpha from Creative. With that said, I still prefer my current setup over the Philips. This is mainly due to the small earcups made to rest on your ears and not around them (I have big ears too). The Siberias still touch my ears but not as much.Audio - 3/5 but for the price 5/5The audio is pretty damn good for the price. It certainly isn't bad, but nothing special for me since I'm looking to get more into audiophile grade equipment. I also enjoy a more V-shaped sound signature and these lack in the bass in comparison to my current setup. (Albeit it a terrible setup)Comfort 3/5These are not that comfortable. They slide around a lot, the cord is irremovable so that can change the comfort somewhat. Also, they sit on my ears and can get pretty hot. The band clamps quite a bit for me, but I have a larger head so that may be it. When I take these to the gym, any movement makes them slide off so definitely not gym headphones.Build Quality 4/5Even though I don't find them that comfortable, their plastic build quality seems pretty good. It doesn't feel like cheap plastic, and has satisfying clicks whenever adjusting the band. They fold nicely for storage or travel and the cord is a nice coiled one that allows for seamless tugging and what not. They also look pretty nice. Now I don't know if this was Amazon or Philips, but my package came terribly banged up. The headphones were barely inside the packaging. So much so, the moment I picked them up, they fell out of the plastic shell. It was like if someone opened them and then threw them back into the box, aiming for the plastic mold. They also had what seemed like fabric tears on the headband. The box looked pretty beat up and I have no understanding as to why.Obviously I'm not going to return them as they are only $20 but I probably won't be buying another Philips headset unless I get confirmation on who was at fault for the packaging.I'd say give them a go if you are just looking to get a decent pair of headphones that are upgrades over general speakers, ipod earbuds, or other cheap audio equipment.

The sound that comes through the drivers can best be described as "loose" or "airy
These headphones are cheap. If you are looking for quality, look elsewhere. The sound that comes through the drivers can best be described as "loose" or "airy." Recorded music is muddled and lacks clarity and if you intended to use these for mixing or recording music, don't even bother. The sound is inauthentic and impossible to create a mix of any kind with. I would recommend a higher quality set of cans for most any application unless these are a backup of some kind.

They disintegrated!
The earpads, headband and even the cable rotted away after about three years. They sound ok but are very uncomfortable. The clamping pressure is the highest of any headphone I've owned, and I'm a collector/hoarder. These are truly awful headphones.

Great value, and great for modding to rival headphones three times the price.
These headphones are a great deal, especially if you're willing to spend another 20-30 bucks for either Brainwavz HM5 earpads or Beyerdynamic DT770 velour pads to make the headphones around ear headphones instead of on ear (the drivers are big enough.) They rival headphones three times the price in both comfort and sound after modding the earpads. Great lows, good mids, and decent treble, and very engaging to listen to. They are not the most detailed, but the sound stage is amazing compared to headphones like the ATH-M50.

I baught it twice
The sound quality is very good, and it is also the main reason why I bought it. I bought one several weeks ago, but it was a used one and it was worn out. So i returned it. But I still want to buy it because its good sound quality.I bought another one again. It is unbelievable that it is my last returned headphones. SO SAD!
