No, but you need to always store a working can of foam or cleaner on it. It will be fine for months without use, but if you won't be using it for more than a few months run some cleaner through it and then leave the cleaner can on it. Don't run cleaner through it and then store it with nothing on it.

How does this gun compare to similar models? I have two of the "GREAT STUFF" models and they are no good. constant maintenance. Constant clogging. I heard the hilti is a better unit but Im going to wait until I hear some replies/comments. Thanks!

Can you remove a half full can of foam, clean gun and switch to a different kind of foam? Will the first can still be useable later?

Yes you can. Use a can of spray carb cleaner to clean the head of the can and the gun when you unscrew it. Keep an eye on the old can as some foam might escape and if you let it dry the can is toast. I stand it upright and spray carb cleaner into the head of the can and let it sit.
