I sent this device back because the rubber cover did not stay fastened and therefore it is not waterproof.I contacted the Powermonkey company, who invented this solar charger and they were very helpful. They offered to replace the device. I would recommend this company.There are two things that I would expect from such a product like this:- battery status to show how much power was left- a cable for direct recharging from a wall socketIt's a very attractive solar charger and it comes with a nice cover and many cables for many other devices.

Great little product. Wish that it had a little more feedback about charged status, Like a 1-5 bar charge level. That being said, in direct sunlight it charged in about 6 hours for me and allowed for full charges of a Galaxy S4. Great for serious / semi-serious camping.These things can take a beating. I had mine strapped on top of a Panier in a 500 mile ride. Across all manner of roads, bumps and drops it held up great. Got wet a number of times in pop-up showers and morning dew with no issues.

Although it will be nice when these are more powerful devices--more easily charged and with an increased capacity in the same space--the Solarmonkey made it possible for my iPhone to be charged at all times in Nepal and Tibet. 8 nights' camping, and I always managed to have enough juice for my photo needs!

I have most of power travellers solar chargers and this is the best to date.it is super light weight and best suited to charging smart phone sized items, it will give a half charge to a full sized ipad device, but not full. I find that because it is all inclusive with the battery it is more suited to throwing in a bag or back pack reducing cables and complexity of having a stand alone battery pack, If you want to charge up an ipad get the extreme with the bigger battery..

How do I work all my devises in a survivor situation. finally I found a light consistent answer. Check youtube for demo it really nails down your decision. Rated most consistent by Outdoor mag. Keep in mind not fastest or most powerful.

I purchased the solar monkey so that I could keep my GPS and Petzl headlamp charged while on a trip in Alaska. While testing both items on the Solar Monkey, neither the GPS or the the headlamp received even the slightest charge! Big waste of time and money! I would not recommend to anyone!

Excellent product, shipped faster than projected. Description was very accurate and works very well. I would recommend to anyone that hikes or any army personnel that goes out to the field.

Durable, light weight, well protected in it's case. I'm still working thru charge/recharge rates. I would recommend this device.
