Favorite edc!
I handle a couple of my friends Spyderco and always thought it would be nice to add one to my collection. Never was 100% sold on them. A buddy told me about the Byrd brand and I thought I’d try one of those out before spending a bit more on a Spyderco. I first tried a Cara Cara 2. Liked it very much so. A few days later my friend gets a Cara Cara 2 with an Emerson wave on it. I checked it out and fell in love with it. Became my edc right out of the gate. Blazing fast deployment. Super empress with it. Will be acquiring a true spyderco version of it down the road. Can’t recommend this one enough.

Nice knife
Very good knife. The wave works well after the blade is oiled and worked in a little. Very nice for the price.

Not a spyderco...
This is designed by spyderco, but made by byrd in China. It does look like a spydreco & I am sure it still will be a good or decent knife years from now. But, don't be fooled, you are not getting a spyderco under $100. The Emerson opening works as advertised.

Feels like a cheap Spyderco
I recently ordered a Spyderco Matriarch 2 and this knife and you can feel the differences. The Emerson opener works tremendously on the draw and the handle feels like it's made from quality material. It feels weightier (in a good way) than the Cara Cara 2 and is easily flipped open. This knife has a thin, sharp blade that holds a good edge, and once you strop it the knife is razor sharp. It does struggle to be flipped open and when you draw it from your pocket, the blade does not extend the same way the Matriarch does. The clip is solid and the blade has zero play in it. The machining on the locking mechanism is left rough and the opening and the lock isn't as smooth. It's a decent EDC, but the knife feels cheap in the hand. It is light in the pocket and makes a quality knife, albeit economical.

Best Budget Knife
This is a very high quality knife for the money. Very solid lock up and very sharp. The steel isn’t the best but for 50 bucks you get a rock solid folder with an Emerson wave. I have the endura as well and I prefer the grip on the Cara Cara better. It’s just a really well made knife especially for what you pay for it.

Solid Knife
The auto-deploy feature works better with some pockets than others, but with a little practice is pretty reliable. I sharpened it as soon as I got it and rapidly got it to razor sharp, it's the sharpest knife I own except for my Havalon which has an actual scalpel blade. It holds an edge very well also. My only complaint is that the tear drop hole is less ergonomic than the spyderco circular hole, but I don't really use it, so it's fine.

Not quite a "budget" endura4
I've been carrying an endura4 for years and finally got tired of sharpening the vg10 steel so the cheaper steel on this had alot of appeal for me. There's not a huge market for wave knives so I figured it was worth a shot. While it's nice and light and sharp (and I love the full flat grind) the wave mechanism, although similarly designed to the endura4 just worked terribly. I don't have a good explanation why it didn't deploy well but I wasn't impressed. I returned it and rigged a cold steel air lite with a snaggletooth AL for the same effect

Excellent
This is an excellent training knife, I carry an Emerson Wave Endura for edc and I practice with my Cara Cara. Just dull the edge
