i need 5 sockets as my wooden executive office chair has 5 wheels I want to rpelace the 5 wheels but the wheel sems are too short please advise

I have a wood office chair that i want to add 7/16 x 7/8 friction stem caster. Is this too long/deep or would it work?

It will work if the wood is wide and deep enough for you to drill the hole. Make sure to have at least 1/4" left on the width so it doesn't split the wood when you sit on the chair. I want to verify that I need a 7/8" drill for these sockets. In other words, the sockets themselves need a 7/8" hole, correct?

I installed mine in a metal tube (antique chair leg) with an exterior diameter of 1". 7/8" sounds right as the metal was about 1/16" thick. Unfortunately, I can't take out the socket to measure the inside diameter.
