IMPRESSIVELY Lightweight, Easy to use, Great value.
I bought this vacuum primarily because it's lightweight, as it needs to me used at many different levels in our building (including taken up to areas (via rope) that are ladder access only) I had mediocre expectations for the CFM, brush and using it on some non-carpeted areas. I bought the HEPA filters for it because some of the dust produced in our industry is not the greatest to kick up. Overall I have been very impressed with the vacuum. CFM seems great, brush height is perfect, work very well on our short carpet (its like door mat carpet) and works really well on non-carpeted areas, which is a huge bonus. It is IMPRESSIVELY lightweight, not only for carrying around, but is easy on your arms/wrist even after vacuuming for a long time. It picks up dirt and debris very fast also. 90% is picked up in one pass, two passes is fine for most levels of dirt, so no complaints there. The long/heavy duty cord is also great. I am curious how well the motor will hold up in our environment, but everything on it seems easy to service in house if needed.

Commercial Cleaning Business
I purchased the Oreck Commercial XL Vacuum Cleaner for my commercial cleaning business, and it has exceeded my expectations. Since I clean office buildings on a regular basis, I needed a vacuum that could handle daily use while being lightweight and dependable. This vacuum has been exactly that. One of the biggest advantages is how lightweight it is. Carrying it between offices and around large workspaces is easy, and it doesn't leave me feeling worn out after a long day. It has excellent suction power and does a great job picking up dust, dirt, and everyday debris from commercial carpets, leaving them looking clean and refreshed. I also appreciate how easy it is to maneuver around office furniture, desks, and tight spaces, which helps me work more efficiently. Even with frequent use, it has remained reliable and continues to perform like it did when I first purchased it. If you're looking for a durable, high-performing vacuum for commercial cleaning or even a large home, I highly recommend the Oreck Commercial XL. It's built for everyday use, saves time on the job, and has become an essential part of my cleaning equipment.

Cleans like it has a vendetta against dirt.
I have seven children. Seven. Most vacuums take one look at my house and immediately start updating their wills. Not this Oreck. This vacuum rolled in, surveyed the chaos, looked at the cracker crumbs, dog hair, mystery debris, LEGO dust, and whatever substance is currently fused to my area rug, and basically said, "Girl, no problem. I got you." This thing is the Nokia phone of vacuums. It's built like a brick and appears to be fueled entirely by spite and a personal vendetta against dirt. No fancy lights. No touchscreen. No app. No AI. No laser-guided navigation system. No flashing indicators constantly demanding emotional support. It doesn't need any of that. It knows who it is. And somehow, despite being built like it could survive the apocalypse, it's incredibly lightweight. I can carry it around the house without feeling like I'm training for a strongman competition. While other vacuums spend half their battery life thinking about cleaning, this one is already done and waiting by the door for another fight. It transitions from carpet to rugs so smoothly that I almost suspect witchcraft. It somehow knows when I've mentally accepted defeat against a mess and takes that personally. The suction is aggressive in the best it's-going-to-get-your-floors-clean-even-if-it-doesn't-reach-every-single-nook-and-cranny way. And no, it doesn't come with a hose. You have to accept that, make peace with it, and move on, because it still does a better job than basically every other vacuum out there. It also has a bumper guard on it, as to keep peace with the walls. Dirt doesn't get picked up, it gets evicted. And unlike every fancy vacuum I've owned, this one doesn't seem like it's one clogged Cheerio away from retirement. It feels like the kind of machine that will outlive me, my children, and possibly civilization itself. If you don't buy this vacuum, it's not because the vacuum has commitment issues. It's because you do.

Very happy, buying another one!
After 6 years, our Oreck XL finally stopped working. I already have another Oreck XL on the way. I love how lightweight it is. The cord is so long, I can go room to room, from rugs, to carpet, to hardwood to tile without having to unplug multiple times. When it gets a little heavy(maybe an extra 2lbs), that's how we know it's time to change out the bag. I love not having to empty containers, the bags are super easy to replace. My only complaint is for the past couple years, if the vacuum falls over and hits the ground hard, a wire inside the handle comes off and the vacuum won't turn on. However, all we've had to do is unscrew the handle, reattach the piece and then screw the handle back together and it's back to working.

U TIRED OF BAGLESS ? HURRY UP N BUY!
My reasons for this review and why I'll NEVER buy another... After buying all those,"NEW and IMPROVED" bagless vaccuum cleaners. Reason #1. I got caught up in all the hype when those bagless vaccuums first came out. #2. I totally forgot about the old tried and true vacuums because they quit stocking them at regular everyday stores. #3. I began to get so sick and tired of replacing up to 4 filters after every 4th time I'd vaccuum. #4. Spending all that money on those stupid little filters that seem to be worthless and over priced. #5.Having to go on a easter egg hunt just to find all those extra gimmicky filters. Different model numbers for each filter, The special smelly filters, flat small filters, special round filters, pet dander filters, air ionizing, allergy specific filter, filters for the inside of the unit and filters for the outside of the unit.. #6. Having to hand wash and dry those nasty dirty, " special filters" because you looked everywhere and can't find them. I could go on forever with that. #7. The most important of them all... when emptying those Ridiculous dirt catches. Every single time I would go to empty that thing out, ALL the dirt and dust that i had just vacuumed up would spill out along with u a huge plume of dust, allergy, pet dander, pollen, skin mite atomic cloud with the fallout settling all over the floor that I had just spent 45mins vacuuming up. Then one day a light came on, WTF? I thought to myself. What is the point of going bagless? So began the journey... I searched hi and lo looking for a "old school" vaccuum cleaner. I wanted light weight, no attachments ( face it all those attachments and they end up getting lost and falling off while vacuuming, I never really used them). I just wanted one with a bag that I could pull off and toss without leaving a trace of dust. O i did my research this time AND I'm SOO HAPPY that I did too. I found this at a reasonable price, does exactly what i need it to do. Great super strong suction, super lightweight, extra long cord. This vacuum is no BS it's a perfect vacuum, simple, easy set up and by the way... you remember when u could replace parts? Yup, I bought a couple extra belts, bags and rollers too. HOLY COW, They actually have a catalog of replaceable parts ! You can actually do a bit of work on it yourself without having to go out looking to buy a new one every time a belt breaks, What a concept !!! I'll use this vacuum forever. No need to replace. I'm so glad they still carry these. If you are sick of those NEW AND IMPROVED vacuums, do yourself a favor and try old school. You won't regret it. O and to my mother....I AM SOOO SORRY THAT I MADE YOU THROW OUT UR OLD VACCUUM when I was a child. I'll be replacing yours shortly.

I love this vacuum so much I bought another one.
I LOVE this vacuum so much I bought another one. I keep one upstairs and one goes back and forth between the main and lower level. I live in a big old house (well not old, but 25+ and hasn’t been updated. It gets dirty fast) and I am vacuuming nearly every day. I have central vac but not the motorized beater bar attachment for carpets. I literally got exhausted lugging my expensive canister vacuum all over the house and this one really does a better job on my old carpets in this big old pole barn. Pros: long cord - my upper level in particular is large/spread out 1200SF in almost a railroad type layout. I am mystified but if I plug this vacuum in exactly in the center of the hallway, I can get to each bedroom on the farthest end. With my other vacuum I had to plug in separately each bedroom and end of the hallway! Lightweight - helpful for stairs, lifting vacuum up on furniture for pet hair, etc. Large/inexpensive/easy to change vacuum bags - may not be important for some of you but if you live in a house full of kids and creatures this is key. Also, the bags are only $1ish each if you buy the 25 packs on Amazon, and changing them before full improves the machine’s performance and it’s more lightweight - so I would change often regardless. Heavy duty - you can tell why this machine is used for commercial applications. This is the exact vacuum you often see housekeepers with at hotels and it’s no wonder. The dang thing is practically indestructible. I say practically... I did have one into the repair shop once because my 7 year old vacuumed up a piece of playdoh which hardened around the fan or some such. Usually, anything you pickup that shouldn’t be in there, doesn’t make it in the hose past the beater bar. Suction - I am amazed by the amount of suction this cleaner generates for its size. Watch out, because if there is a Barbie doll a foot away, she is going in, head first. Low profile/flexibility/size- you can get under many chairs with this. Pretty good for an upright. Price - this is the bottom line here. I think this is a great product for the price. Cons: Looks-well, it’s ugly. Definitely looks commercial. If I forget to put it in the closet it look at it and cringe. It’s even uglier in person than it is online. Haha. Design flaw - this is the only “real” con I can think of. At least one other reviewer had mentioned it and I can confirm it is true as both of my Orecks do this. The suction is not nearly as strong about 2-3” from the edges. Naturally, the issue this creates is not getting as clean along the edges. You can get around this by changing your approach, but that’s difficult to do in a hallway. The redeeming qualities of this machine are so many that this doesn’t prevent me from using it all the time, but it needs to be mentioned. Also, not sure if this is a pro or a con, depends on your perspective - but if you’ve researched this far you probably know there are no attachments. For me, this is a good thing. I don’t want attachments on this machine as it would increase the weight, make it more cumbersome, and possibly reduce suction. I also dislike working with attachments that are attached to an upright or canister vac. For me, I use the attachments associated with my central vac or my mini shop vac. This is something I do every week or two as a deep clean for baseboards corners etc. I have my vacuum every day or two so I wouldn’t be doing much else if I was focusing on attachments, baseboards and corners. But, your application might be different and if that’s the case, this machine might not be for you.

Best Vacuum, and Best Value!
The Oreck Vacuum is the best there is! This purchase is my 4th one. My first one was 25 years ago, and it would still be running if the kids had not vacuumed toys with it while cleaning their rooms. I think except for the wider XL21, and the newest models with a Dyson-style swivel hinge, which I would not want, that all the Orecks are basically the same great design and performance. The home models have headlights, two speeds, and shorter power cords. The commercial models have one speed, low profile for getting under furniture, and much longer and better power cords. My Berber carpet is 20 years old. I vacuum it daily. I see some aging, but people still comment that the carpet looks like new! The Orecks are noisy with the 6500 rpm brush-roller speed. The speed and quality of the brush-rollers are key to its excellent cleaning performance. I read about all vacuums before buying Oreck #4. They all indicate they are loud. I wear soft foam earplugs when doing many household chores, including vacuuming. The coffee grinder, the blender, the lawn mower, and several of my carpentry and auto tools are way louder than the Oreck. I wear ear plugs for all of those noisy tools. But back to the Oreck, to me, it's performance that counts, and I wouldn't buy anything other than an Oreck! This new Oreck is the lowest price I have seen at $179 on Amazon. I paid $325 + tax for it's red predecessor at a vacuum store. The two vacuums are identical except for color!!! My Oreck's #2 and #3 are still like new with maintenance of the belt and brush roller (very inexpensive parts on Amazon, three times the cost in a vacuum store). I gave them to my now adult children as they moved to college apartments. Now about the filter bags. Oreck makes the best filter bags made. The commercial bags do a good job, but my daughter has asthma, and I prefer the Oreck hypo-allergenic bags. They are referred to as HEPA by some. The commercial bags are good, they are blue, and less expensive. The hypo-allergenic filter bags are greenish, and they have layers of filter media in the replaceable filter bag. I think the hypo-allergenic bags are the greatest. Oreck commercial vacuums take bags "without filter docks". Those "docks" where the filter bag attaches are a special contraption that showed up on a few home models. This commercial vacuum has a regular filter connection port, and does not have a "dock" for the filter attachment. The commercial vacuum has the traditional, non-docking, filter connection port that the non-docking filter bag snaps onto. The filter bags seal to the port with a rubber-elastic seal that does not leak! For the commercial vacuum, I recommend green hypo-allergenic filter bags, and you need the traditional bags, not the bags that are designed for a "dock" contraption. CAUTION NOTE. This is a 5-star product, without any doubt. Read the astonishing and excellent reviews! I'm not the only Oreck enthusiast! HOWEVER it is disappointing to me that the blue Oreck in the picture is different than the actual vacuum I received. Mine has a gray bag, with the broad white diagonal stripe across the bag with "Oreck Commercial" emblazoned on the banner. The one in the picture is much nicer looking. My disappointment is not in the vacuum quality or performance. My disappointment is that I have to believe the seller knows the difference between the pictured vacuum and the one he is providing, and I suspect the one in the picture is a newer model than one I received, but I'm not sure. I expect the sellers to provide what they show. And I suspect they know exactly that they are picturing something different than they are providing. With that said, this Oreck is OUTSTANDING, and this is the lowest price I have seen on this vacuum. It cleans like a miracle, and I am VERY PLEASED! The long cord on the commercial vacuum is worth a lot to me. I plug it once by the stairway, and do the whole house without moving the cord. It also has soft wheels which are quieter on the hard floors than older models. The commercial cord is bigger around and the vacuum will not go over it and wrap it up in the motor like some of the smaller non-commercial cords. I also like the new style non-marring bumpers that really don't mark walls or furniture that get bumped. IT'S A GREAT VACUUM!

AWESOME VACUUM. *GREAT* for pet hair, don't listen to the people who say its not good for pet hair.
So I bought this vacuum cleaner as a replacement for a Shark Professional Lift Away canister vaccum. The shark had some issues, namely: 1. It had an attachment tube through which all the suction power at some point went. This tube was made of a material that kept cracking and we had to duct tape it. In the end it was more tape than tube and this led to a loss of suction. 2. I was absolutely SICK of emptying the canister and digging out pet hair and inhaling the dust and cleaning the filter etc. It was nasty. My wife and I made a deal for the housework. She would do the downstairs and I the upstairs. Since the upstairs is 100% frize carpet, the vacuum quickly became a point of contention for me. I did my research (A LOT OF IT) and came to Oreck. I didn't feel like shelling out 500+ dollars for one of the super top of the line home versions that are aesthetically pleasing and instead opted to pocket the cash and buy this workhorse for 150 bucks. And I am IMPRESSED. We have 3 dogs and a cat. The dogs are a Siberian Husky, a German Shepard, and a St. Bernard. Needless to say we a have a LOT of pet hair. Some reviewers have mentioned that they didn't think the oreck was effective for this. These people are lying to you. Our carpets are now amazingly clean. This thing sucks up debris and pet hair like nothing I've ever seen. Its a BEAST. And its lightweight. The bags hold a LOT and when its time to change them out you just pull em, toss em and replace em. They are cheap. I've been through 2 in a month and got a 25 pack for like 15 bucks. Get the scent tabs. You can really smell them at first, after the first couple of days you cant smell anything, which hopefully is the point. Some people have mentioned a burning rubber smell when they started using the vaccuum. I noticed this too, but I think it is just a burn in phenomenon as it quickly went away. The replacement and maintenance parts (belt/roller) are both on amazon for under 10 bucks. I expect to change the belts and rollers on occasion and have this vacuum for a decade. It doesn't have any attachments. it just cleans the carpets and floors superbly well. We've used it downstairs on wood and rugs and tile with no issues and it has pulled up loose pet hair and cat litter with no problems. Give it a go. Best vacuum I've ever owned. See pictures for pet hair effectiveness.

Wished for better
I had a high expectation when buying this vacuum due to the positive reviews. But I was a bit disappointed because this vacuum doesn’t work well on all carpets and very loud noise. So be mindful of that when you’re ready to get one in shaa Allaah.

Love it.

Liked mine so much, but one for my elderly parents
Pros: -Made in USA -Suction -Very lightweight/easily maneuverable -Can easily get under furniture -bag can hold a lot of dirt Cons: -It's noisy. -Wish it had a way to disconnect the hose from the vacuum so I could have a suction tool/hose for hard to reach areas. This is a no frills, purpose built commercial vacuum. Like the headline says, I liked mine so much, I bought one for my elderly parents. I love the suction on this vacuum. It will get the majority of debris in one pass on carpet and tile. Makes the job of vacuuming a breeze. I also love the light weight, handle ergonomics and maneuverability. They don't make vacuum cleaners like this anymore. This one is built to last. I would recommend!!!

NOT SUITABLE FOR UK
So so disappointed ☹️. Chose this vacuum because it said commercial use. Thugs it would be ideal for a family with children. Plug doesn’t fit UK socket, nor is an adapter available!!!!!!!!😡 Someone recommended Sebo. Fantastic go with that save your time and money.
