Vast improvement over the standard Black & Decker battery
We have two B&D weedwhackers. Both came with their standard batteries. After several years, one battery was beginning to fail (short run time). We bought the "upgraded" battery for about $35 rather than the standard B&D battery (over $100). The new battery is an outstanding value! Much longer run time before needing a recharge. The old batteries needed to cool down before recharging (indicated on charger by a flashing red light). The new battery can be recharged immediately after use! The weedwhacker appears to have more actual power (torque) when using the new battery. I suspect that the new battery allows more amperage to be drawn by the weedwhacker than the old battery. Today, I ordered another upgraded battery so I can have a great battery for both of my weedwhackers.

Didn't last a year.
This replacement battery for my B & D trimmer worked great but for only 10 months.

When Longevity is a Requirement
I'm glad I purchased this additional endurance battery, especially when I'm using my B&D leaf blower/vacuum that depletes energy sources more rapidly during periods of extended use.Swapping out a drained battery for a fully charged one can be an annoyance when approaching the end of a job.

The 4000 mAH is a lie
This battery is not a 4000 mAH (4 AH) unit, and I have proved it to my own satisfaction. I bought a brand new Black & Decker weedcutter which uses the 40V MAX system, and which came with an OEM 1.5 AH battery. After first charging the battery, I cut my front bank with it, and it ran out just before I finished.I ordered this 4 AH battery as a supplementary unit. 4 AH should operate the weedcutter about 2.67 times as long as the stock 1.5 AH battery, but given that this is a knockoff I was hoping for twice as long. After first charging it fully I cut my front bank, and it ran out just before finishing, almost in the same spot actually. It is the same size and weight as the OEM 1.5 AH battery, which honestly made me pretty sure it wasn't 4 AH since, given the same voltage and chemistry, more AH means more weight. It should weigh 2.67 times as much as the OEM unit, in other words.ALSO, the LED charge indicator lies. It has four LEDs that light in a bar graph configuration, while the OEM unit has three. When the OEM unit doesn't have enough charge to start the weedcutter, none of the LEDs will light up, but this replacement unit still shows one light when it is too low to use.

9 Months and the batterie won't take a charge
Bought this battery in December 2022 and 8 months later the battery won't take a charge. I have other same type of battery (different mfg) that have lasted more than a year. Don't recommend if you have less than a year life to it.

OEM charger from Black & Decker will not work well
These newer Lithium-ion battery packs are rated at twice the capacity (3-1/2 to 4 amps) of the original charger, at 1-1/2 to 2 amps). Therefore, if you use the old charger for the new battery, it can only charge the battery up to what the charger was designed for, at 2 amps max). To take advantage of the higher load, i ended up buying a less than $30 charger rated for 4 amps. Now, i am able to fully charge the battery pack, at the same time, have the old battery and old charger as back up. I no longer run out in the middle of a cleaning job.
