The descriptions are good and it's easy to understand. Highly recommend for anyone hiking or general survival Review: Incredible book! - Ok, I went overboard and bought 8 different books pertaining to foraging edible and medicinal plants in the Northeast and New England. This is by far the best of them all. Love the color photographs which make it super easy to identify the plants. I also love the amount of information contained in this book. If you can only get one book on this topic, this is the one you need.

"To the caretakers of this planet, to the fierce defenders of the wild"
This is an incredibly helpful and beautiful book. "We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things.โ -Charlotte Mason I've always been fascinated by the ways we can enjoy and use plants to support a healthy lifestyle, but have been overwhelmed by most herbology resources. This one, instead of being a comprehensive index of every herb you can order online, or a complete "how to" for every mysterious way to use plants, focuses on plants in my ecological region and their benefits, and we've already had fun finding most of these herbs in our yard or nearby, though we'd never noticed all of them before. I view the world as a beautiful creation that we were meant to be stewards of. We agree that plants give life, both physically and emotionally. Simply being in and appreciating Gods creation is an important pastime and skill that has been ignored in our culture, to the detriment of our society and of this lovely place we were originally meant to thrive. So we agree, and I'm not offended or intimidated by the author's interwoven spiritualism and evolutionary view. While I appreciate plants as an important, living resource and not as a way to commune with the universe, I do appreciate that the book doesn't feel hokey, as she shares her use of some plants to facilitate dreams or realign chakras. I'm thankful I stumbled upon this one and recommend it for anyone interested in learning more. I see it as an especially helpful resource for parents and children, with colorful pictures, consice text, and easy to understand information and precautions.

Great book but had a few manufacturing flaws
The book is very knowledgeable and easy to understand. I love the set up of it. However, my book came with a minor defect. A few of the pages are folded in half and sealed in the spine of the book. There is no way to remove them without cutting it.

Amazing field guide
I am in love with this book. The rich full color detailed picture are beautiful and oh so helpful. Itโs regional so you are looking at only plants in your area making it easier to use on the go. She then filled the descriptions with where to look for it, how it grows, and how and what parts to harvest. There is directions for each plant on how to use it and turn it into medicine, as well as precautionary medical warnings. I love that she brings practical to the plants and shows the link of plant descriptions and what itโs used are- ie the leaves are flame shaped, indicating thatโs itโs good for digestion. So practical. Flipping through the pages I easily identified several plants in my yard. This book is my go to for figuring out how to optimize a plants benefits.
