Eaton 913A561 Detroit Truetrac 8.8" 31 Spline Differential for Ford

Had this installed professionally along with Ford performance 3:73 gears. My truck has the 4.6 engine but came originally with 3:55 gears. Many years ago I installed 20" wheels with a stock tire size (not raised) but they were still 2" taller than the stock 17" wheel/tire combo. Of course that effected my RPM at speed but not much. I rarely tow trailers but on the highway it moved the engine out of the power band enough that the trans was down shifting a lot. With the slight gear ratio change it has made a huge difference, tows easy and my MPG has improved by almost 2 miles. Now, about this Trutrack, it is amazing, my driveline shop has installed a bunch of them and really likes them. It went in easily with minimum fuss at setup and is absolutely silent, of course a lot of that has to do with the excellent gear set. I now get good grip on loose or slippery terrain and it goes around tight corners with no noise, effort or tire chirp. Highly recommend!

Solid product good deal

Differential build quality looks great & it was a great price. Amazon customer service really helped out when there was a problem with the order & they made this a positive experience. Differential works great & allows you to put power down earlier as you exit a corner, better than a clutch type differential. No increase in noise observed, it actually seems to run smoother than the original. Packaging is fine for a shelf but it needs a lot stronger box for shipping.

Must use a conventional 75w-90 with no friction modifier - Valvoline makes a good one. Will chirp when turning during break in but goes away over time. Country of origin is Taiwan.

I put front and rear Eaton Truetracs in a 2002 Explorer. The rear outer tire no longer chirps (it did with the stock Ford LSD), and I cannot tell that either one is installed unless I am off road. An unexpected benefit for city driving in Houston is that when I hit a puddle that's deeper than I imagined (we get lots of those due to a nasty combo of tons of rain and selective road maintenance), the vehicle no longer veers toward the floating wheel.

I installed this myself on my 1992 ford f150 302 zf 1356 8.8 and man was it easy. I installed Motive performance 4.56 gears without a hitch, everything is quiet back there. I got this as a used unit, but it was brand new, it was just the box was destroyed and they re-boxed it, but all the parts and papers are all there. Very pleased with it, going to buy another one for my crown vic pi.

This differential meets and exceeds every expectation I had. The instructions were clear and concise. The unit came with the correct spacers and snap rings. Awesome. Just perfect. If I could buy another just to put it on a shelf I would totally do that.

The best upgrade i did on my truck it operated good i don’t need friction modifier and give me more confidence in driving in different kind of terrain, i highly recommend this product for those who want to upgrade their ford f150,mustang or explorer. I absolutely love this differential. The car would used to feel very unsettling around turns in the rear end. Now I'm able to apply throttle around turns and it feels like the rear end is pushing and steering all at the same time. At first it felt oversteery, but you realize the more you step on it, the faster you go without losing control. This is tested on a Shelby GT500. Setting up the diff was not as easy as it seems. This diff took 0.273" and 0.271" to make the backlash within spec of 0.011". This is not to blame the product, rather the person that set up the diff previously. The carrier was messed up, and the gear was whining. Now the whining has drastically reduced.
