Fashionable, compact, adaptable, convenient
I bought a used unit on Ebay and I bought a "like new" unit on Amazon. Both have been excellent. The unit is fashionable and compact. With a Black&Decker 1000w rice cooker, it heats rapidly to temp and maintains equilibrium. Small footprint for compact kitchens. The Codlo team is very responsive to questions, and their cookbook may be downloaded for free. It too is well done.

Great entry into Sous Vide cooking without any hassle
I was an initial backer through their kickstarter launch. At the time, I was actively interested in getting into sous vide, but the price points were too high and the cheaper option, well, looked to be cheap and flimsy. With Codlo, my crockpot and some ziploc bags are all I need. The device itself is of very high quality and works fantastically (whether for less than an hour for the perfect poached egg, or 3 days of slow cooking some short ribs). The device itself is simple to use and setup. I was cooking within 5 minutes of unboxing the product. Codlo works in a fundamentally different way than other sous vide products in that the temperature of the water is kept constant by the device. My codlo stays within .2 degrees (there is a little bit of learning, but the codlo itself learn and tunes itself to your cooking vessel). The first steak that I cooked was the perfect medium rare and would rival any top steakhouse (and costs were much, much lower).Additionally, the Codlo is so easy to use. Set the temperature, set the time to cook, put the temperature sensor into the cooking vessel, and when everything is at the right temperature Codlo alerts you to add your food for cooking. It's so effortless to create a top quality meal.I find myself reevaluating cheaper cuts of meat knowing that I have the codlo at home. Additionally, I'm able to set the cooking process up at night and have dinner ready 24 hours later. The great thing about sous vide in general is that if you only mean to cook something for 1-2 hours, leaving it for more isn't such a big deal (compare that to roasting, grilling, broiling, etc.).I cannot recommend Codlo highly enough and some of my colleagues are even ordering one for themselves.

It's a Portable Sou Vide Cooking Device!
I per-ordered mine through their initial KickStarter sale. The best feature of this device is that you can actually take it with you everywhere, including your in-laws' house! All you need is a container with heating element such as Nesco, crockpot or rice cooker) and Codlo. I have tried several containers and found out that the best one is Nesco. It contains a large body of water so the temperature won't fracture too much, so you can get a better result on your cooking. The recipe book (doesn't come with the device) is also a very handy reference if you like to try a few different ideas by following the author's recipes.

Love our Codlo!
We bought ours through the original KickStarter project. We’re cooking sous vide a couple times a week now. Using Codlo to control a large crockpot cooker we’ve had for years. It’s worked great; my wife has really gotten into it (I gave it as a Xmas present). We originally heard about Codlo from the ThriftyVac project and the two have worked out great for us getting into sous vide without going to great expense. We’ve cooked shrimp, salmon, swordfish, lobster, beef, chicken, bison, lamb, beets, eggs … and they’ve all turned out great! We bought a grill pan for some final-touch searing and regularly heat our dinner plates as well for a total experience. So we’ve been very pleased, to say the least! And the free Codlo recipe book was very helpful in us diving in and getting started.

Stylish. Simple. Awesome.
This is an awesome device and I recommend it to any home cook that is looking to experiment with sous vide cooking. It's a stylish small device which means it wont take up all of the space of a typical sous vide set up and the Codlo looks so nice that we just leave it out and plugged in all of the time. The meals you can create with the Codlo are just amazing! I always heard great things about sous vide cooking but I made a steak with the Codlo and it was perfection!I highly recommend this product.

Welcome to the World of Sous Vide Cooking
Codlo was one of my first Kickstarters back in 2013. I had heard about sous vide cooking but was frustrated at how expensive it was to get into this unique style of cooking. The Codlo controller is simple to use and very effective at monitoring temperature and cooking time. I use a smaller crockpot with a manual power level switch which is important since many of the newer crockpots have electronic power switches and reset when unplugged. Not only is the controller effective, it's also stylish and looks great in the modern kitchen. The digital display is easy to read and the controls are easy to adjust. The temperature probe is well-made and detachable in the event it needs replacing. My first recipe was a simple sous vide egg. The Codlo maintained a temperature of 147 degrees F within a degree or the target for 60 minutes. The Codlo display basically walks you through the steps from pre-heating, cooking and completion. When the cooking time is complete, Codlo will maintain the temperature rather than shut-off which is a plus.I don't own a vacuum sealer but instead use the water displacement method to prepare and package items for cooking. I use Ziplock brand freezer bags of various sizes for sous vide though some purists may mock.If you're interested in trying sous vide without spending hundreds of dollars, Codlo is the device for you! I love mine and use it several times a month for precise cooking.

Love my Codlo!
I also received my Codlo as a KS backer. I use it several times a week and it is very easy to use. Great quality and can be used with any non-digital crockpot or rice cooker. It does a great job with chicken breast and cheaper cuts of steak, as well as any lean meat that is prone to overcooking and tough. The key is to make sure that the bag you cook the food in has a good vacuum, otherwise it will float.
