Every Tofu lover should have one
This is a great little invention. If you love tofu like I do, you will want to have this in your home. I use it daily. Before this I was using paper towels and let me tell you I was going through those expensive paper towels quite rapidly, a new roll daily. With this I am saving on the paper towels alone. In no time it pays for itself. The nicest thing is that I can put my tofu in it, and 20 Minutes later it's drained of water. The design is such that it can be hard to use unless you have the strength to hold and push it down while you attach the clips on the side, not a complaint but an observation. It seems durable enough to last me a very long time. I have also found that the smaller one which I accidentally purchased handles the 16oz tofu with no problem at all. The pictures on the site show what it does to the water and the tofu separating them completely. Lastly, I would just like to mention how easy this press is to clean.

Strongly recommend!
I don't usually leave a review so early -- I like to give it a while, and see how it holds up -- but I'm making an exception for this product, because 1) it's game-changing, and 2) it's simply and solidly constructed, so I'm optimistic it will hold up well. I absolutely, positively love this tofu press. I am a lacto-ovo pescatarian, I can only eat so much cheese and eggs, and tofu is the perfect protein replacement in most of my recipes that call for chicken, turkey, or beef. My grocery store just started carrying House tofu, which is the mildest-flavored water-pack tofu out there, and two of these presses hold one package. It works exactly as advertised -- after a half-hour, it's nicely pressed, but after pressing overnight, the tofu is half the thickness, a fantastic texture, and it's ready to be eaten as is with a sauce drizzled over it Japanese-style, grilled, oven-baked, cooked in sauce, whatever. It's easy to use, and they stack on top of each other and take up about twice as much space as the original packaging, which seems like a good use of fridge space. It's well-designed so it washes up quickly and easily, and as mentioned, solidly constructed. If you like tofu, buy this!! -- you'll *love* pressed tofu. I'll return to edit if it doesn't hold up well!

Great Product!
This is a great product over all! First let me say it arrived the day I ordered it. With in a couple of hours. Hats off to Amazon on that note. The product is a little smaller in person than the pictures portray, but it was a perfect fit for a 14oz block of Tofu. Its obviously made of plastic. Its has some flex to it but strong enough to get a good solid press. It comes with a holder, a large spring, a strainer, and a top to press with. Its pretty straight forward, right out the box. Pop your tofu block in the strainer, put your spring in the holder and press the strainer down on the spring, latch the top and throw it in the fridge. Thats it. While using I noticed that most of the tofu juice comes out within the first couple of minutes. I was using extra firm tofu, and I had to dump it to keep the liquid from touching the tofu. You donโt have to open it back up to dump, simply turn it to the side and the liquid comes right out.The only downside I noticed was that if your like me and press your tofu for a couple of hours, you will have to flip your tofu or it will press into the holes of the strainer and stop the extraction on liquid.Outside of that its a great product at a decent price.

Easy and effective tofu press
This tofu press is simple to use and does a good job. No bands! I was pleased with how much water came out without crushing the tofu. Now I can make more tofu dishes easily. I can roast, air fry, stir fry or bake the tofu. So glad I got it. I got the bigger size as I always by 1 pound size tofu and it is perfect.

BUY IT! Quick press, easy to use, and easy to clean.
I'm new to tofu but I do know that I never wanted to do the "wrap in a towel and press with a heavy object" method. That's seemed gross. And possibly leaves smelly towels. Anyway, this is very easy to use. I have used it 3 times so far and it works great. I have used it on what seems to be the "standard" tofu...rectangular block in water and it fits just fine. I have also used a pre-drained somewhat irregular shaped package and that one kinda squished. Given that observation, I also would say not to press a partial block. This will work best if you press the entire block... so it won't break. I have used both firm amd extra firm and both came out great. The process seems to work within a matter of minutes but I press mine for longer (sometimes overnight) to get out as much water as I can (but it really isn't necessary 30-45 will get it all the way done. I purchased the clear one so I can see what is happening inside.Once I put the tofu in, I press it down gently and then I just tilt it slightly to one side to fasten and then slowly fasten the other side. All of the liquid is stored inside and it is easy to clean.I would recommend this.

Sturdy and effective
EDIT (half year later) -- I bought a second one a few months back, so I can press two blocks at the same time as I'm rushing to prepare dinner. Each one presses a surprising amount of amount of water from the tofu.I've used these presses quite a bit. They seem pretty sturdy. Some tofu blocks are taller than others. The press can be difficult to latch with the tallest ones. Others can latch more easily. Water pours out of all of them.I still hand-wash them, but I'm no longer sure if the original warping was from the dishwasher, or the way it came.Original review --Hand wash only. The plastic warped inward the first time I put it in the dishwasher, on the top rack. Makes it a little harder to fit together. As far as I could tell, there as no warning against putting it in the dishwasher. It is very difficult to latch. I had to put it on a chair, and kneel on it.Once you get it latched, it presses the tofu well. It's shaped just right for the tofu that comes in a tub -- 14oz or 1 pound. It's easy to pour out the water pressed out of the tofu.

Fabulous Press. Works Great, Good Tofu. Be Sure To Drain Before Latching
I thought at first that this was too small. It is small. It would be nice to have one twice the size. That being said, it makes astonishingly good tofu. Very nice uniform block, too, no dorky little pieces all over the place or weird shaped blocks.Lots and lots of people have written about how hard it is to latch. It's not hard to latch. Sorry, but you folks have to pay attention to the physics here. When you first add the coagulated pre-tofu, you will be adding lots of whey, also. The bottom unit has no drain, so the whey fills the container. Then, when you try to compress the tofu, all you are doing is pressing the whey. You cannot compress whey, it is mostly water. You have to drain the whey out before attempting to compress the tofu and latch the top.Just hold the whole assembly firmly and invert it over the sink. The whey will drain out, and then you will be able to latch the top with gentle pressure.I will keep this and use this to make a particular type of tofu, when I want something i can saute and fry to get a nice succulent consistency. I don't think this will make silken tofu.I would like to have a couple of these so I can generate more tofu at a time, but i found that after making a pretty good size pot of soymilk, it pretty much all went into this with one pressing.Very good product, works better than expected, I may buy another.

Works for a few months
Worked great for about 6 months. I was using p every couple of weeks. Now the latches only catch on one side. Very disappointing.

fa quello che deve
รจ ben fatto. abbastanza grande. fa il suo dovere quindi sono soddisfatta
User
Not enough pressure applied to the tofu
The press is a good size and the block well enough, but the compression strength on the spring just didn't apply enough pressure on the tofu block to squeeze out much moisture at all. A stack of cook books with the tofu wrapped in a tea towel is still more effective, just not as practical.

Very good
Very good product. Sturdy enough to put the pressure to extract last drop out of cottage cheese

A great tofu press...
Very happy with this so far - it seems well built, fits large blocks of tofu, is easy to keep clean, and does a great job of pressing the water out of tofu. A simple design that's unlikely to break. What more do you need?
