Would be better with English subtitiles
This film is a TV version of the film Madita, like the original film it shows two little girls living in a village in turn of the century Sweden. The girls like the other village children get up to all kinds of activities ranging from walking across the roof of the school for a dare or playing naked in the river after having their hair treated for nits. This film would be better if it had English subtitiles.

Bought as a kind of childhood sentiment.
This swedish movie, wich is a shortened compilation of a youth television series from about the1980's,wich was an adaptation of the books from the well-known,Swedish Child-novel author Astrid Lindgrentells the daily adventures of to little girls, living in Sweden about 1900.Their father is the local newspaper director, wich means they are quite wealthy. The girls' names are Madicken, about nine years, and her younger sister,Lisbeth, who is about six years. The series has no English subtitles, only Norwegian or Swedish for hearing impaired viewers. But since I have visited Norway and Sweden quite a lot, about twenty times during my holidays,I have learned to understand both spoken Swedish and written Norwegian quite well.Funny series, though it contains some child-nudity,when the girls wake up,take off their nightgown, and run around naked in their bedroom before dressing.Later, they take a skinny bath in the river, with their newmade girlfriends,of about their age, from a lower class, after they all had their lice removed, which Madicken and Lisbeth got from Mia and her younger sister Mattis.Mia earlier was to be punished by spanking for stealing the headmasters wallet from his room, while climbing on top of the school's roof, and buying sweets and pictures for the stolen money, but Madicken, who is a very kind girl, begs the headmaster for Mia's mercy, wich is granted to her. After that, they become quite close friends. The other movie, wich was made later, titled "Madicken pa junibacken" is in fact a prequel to this one.I can recommend it to anyone who's seen the original tv-series,that was also spoken swedish, but voiced over by a native narrator.Or people like me,who are able to understand both Swedish and Norwegian language.
