Zap-It works very well for me, so far!
Review for Zap-It, posted July, 2015.When I get a mosquito bite, I usually would get a swollen, very itchy bump that lasted about 4 days and drove me crazy. I have tried many topical creams and lotions and they don't work for me.I purchased two of the Zap-It's almost 2 years ago, I think Oct. 2013. I didn't use the Zap-It much last summer b/c I didn't get many bites. But this summer, 2015, I've gotten some bites, and have really had a chance to try this thing. And it works really well. The bites stopped itching, and I didn't get the swollen, itchy bumps. The Zap-It is a little awkward to use. You hold the tip of the device on the bite on your skin, and you squeeze the trigger/button about 5-10 times rapidly. A good thing about the Zap-It is that it's small and light-weight. Previously, I had the "blue mouse" gadget. It had a tip that got really hot - you applied the tip to your bite. The blue mouse worked really well - the bites stopped itching and didn't swell up - but then, unfortunately, the blue mouse just stopped working - the tip didn't get hot any more. I guess it was "disposable." After that I had gotten a couple of other gadgets that worked on the same very-hot-tip principle. They worked well, too, until they stopped working. The Zap-It sets off little sparks. I feel a very slight sting but it does not bother me. I think the sparks de-activate the chemical in the insect's saliva which is in your skin; I think it's this chemical that some people react to with swelling and itching. With the blue mouse, the hot tip deactivated the chemical (I think). So I'm buying another Zap-It to have as a back-up, and I hope they continue to make them!!!!!! I love the summertime, and I want to enjoy it, and to not worry about suffering from mosquito bites. I'm also researching insect repellents tonight on Amazon, and hopefully I'll find something good.

Ineffective, Utterly Useless
I had previously tried a mouse-shaped device (made of hard plastic, with a small 1/8" x 1/8" copper heating element) that was designed to warm up to use heat to minimize the itching of bug bites. It worked! However, I haven't been able to find one since and that device quit working after a couple of years.Unfortunately, the Zap It fails miserably at minimizing the itch for me. It doesn't even help a little bit. In fact, I don't feel anything when I click it. I don't know if it's because it is dead-on-arrival and defective or it's typically low powered. Whatever the case, it's going back immediately.I received the Zap It yesterday and had numerous mosquito bites to test it on. It failed and continues to fail to help relieve the itch at all. What does help for an hour or two is blasting the bites with a blow dryer. The intense heat does seem to help. I hit the bite with hot air until I can't stand it and then turn off the dryer. The heat seems to minimize the itch. Far better than the Zap It which did nothing for me.

I love this little guy
I love this little guy! And it is little.. Tiny and compact. I am extremely unlucky in that I get absolutely eaten ALIVE by mosquitos. I live in the Midwest and they can get pretty bad here during the summer- especially right before sunset. I ordered this because it seems like no matter what bug spray I use (I've tried everything from home made with essential oils to the horribly toxic stuff with DEET, even Avon's Skin so Soft) none of it works for me. At least if I can't keep them from biting me I can keep the itching at bay later. I try to use the Zap It right after I get a bite.. In which case it really keeps me from itching.. but I don't always have it on me so when I get inside I'll give each bite 5-6 clicks. It relieves it right away- it almost feels like you're scratching it. I highly recommend this product for adults. I ordered it hoping that I could use it on my kids but the zap scares them - which is why I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars

Better than I expected!
When you live in FL in what was previously "mosquito county" you get bit year around. Apparently I am especially delicious to mosquitoes. I got the one advertised on Shark Tank that sucks out the bite venom, and saw this one too. This one works better - especially if you zap it right away when it starts itching. Hit it about 5 times. If it itches later, zap it again for 5 times. The sneaky devils like to bite in places I can't reach on the back of my arms, etc. so it is difficult to got those spots on my own. My husband likes zapping me. This is tiny - it has a key chain attachment - it is small enough to carry on a key chain. I may still need to treat the bite with some After Bite or hydrocortozone but I am very allergic to mosquitoes and a bite usually swells up to the size of a quarter, takes 10 days to quit itching, and turns all red. This stops all that! I don't know if we just have the wimpy winter mosquitoes now or the zapping really fixes it, but so far so good. I may get some more as presents and to keep handy.

Doesn’t work well with me :( but does for others
I get bitten by mosquitoes all the time and hoped this would help with the itching. I used it but the itching didn’t really stop. But the next day all the areas I zapped were red, giant, swollen, and everyone was asking if I was okay and if I got bitten by a spider or something. I had to sit down a lot to ice all the swollen and stingy areas in between work (I’m a nurse so I have to move around a lot.) I tried to see if this happened due to the product so I allowed myself to get bitten again in one area and didn’t use Zap It. The bites remained tiny welts like they used to be and never turned into giant bumps. I still have the discolored rashes two weeks later but hopefully it goes away. My friend used it however and worked perfectly fine with him. No reaction. Helped with itching. Complete opposite of me. It’s his now and he’s been using it all summer.

Aide
