Could the bar stands hold standard 1" bars instead of 2" olympic ones?

This is a valid concern, and one which I have pondered many an evening, staring at the plate holder, wondering. "It easily holds an Olympic style bar, but will it hold a standard 1 incher? Let us put it to the test!" And I did, and it does.

Can someone tell me how many inches between the dividers.

There is a 6 inches space between the dividers.

Will this scratch the bumper plates if the knock together?

What? They're bumper plates! Go beat the heck out of them. Scratch them up, bang them around.

How many plates can this hold. I have a pair each of bumper 55, 45, 35, 25, 15 and 10s?

Careful with the 55's. Mine fits two Vulcan Alpha 45's tightly in the last spot. I'd say up to four 10's in the first spot, three 15's and 25's in the second and third spots, respectively. That's about it.
