The Hermetic Kabbalah Paperback – June 12, 2015

Colin Low has provided a comprehensive and insightful text on the philosophical history and practical application of Kabbalistic study. The text is well organized and heavily academic, but carries with it the spirit and tone of a teacher who cares deeply about the subject and is both reflective and occasionally humorous. If you're serious about understanding the elements and dynamic history of the Kabbalah, of which Hermetic mysticism plays an important and undisputed role, I highly recommend this book.

This is what I have been looking for. The real Kabbalah, not New Age nonsense. Its relationship to the understanding of the Bible is a satisfying plus for me. I recommend to anyone wishing to gain a deeper understanding of Judeo-Christian religious doctrine to buy this book.

The Hermetic KabbalahA very important work by a master of his craft. However, should this book more accurately be called, ‘(Yet) Another Book on the (Hebrew) Kabbalah’, as one which can worthily join the others on the shelves. Although here issue is taken with the inclusion of the word Hermetic in the title, which is more usually associated with the Qabalah. Indeed, Colin Low’s website shows a flowchart, relating to Hermetic Kabbalah, positioning the influence of Hermeticism as a major stream, rising at the beginning of the Common Era, with the Kabbalah only crossing paths with Western Esoteric Tradition in the late 19thC. Yet this work does not reflect this. Having a profound respect for the author’s clearly expressed encyclopaedic knowledge of the Kabbalah, the point has been missed by this reader, as to the title choice, of ‘Hermetic’. Apart from a brief comment in the Introduction Hermeticism barely rates a mention, or references in the index. A top book Mr Low, but not one that contributes to the Divine journey or this Hermetic Qabalist. (ps. To other reviewers, Dion Fortune was a Qabalist, rather than a Kabbalist).

Beautiful read

Mr. Low,In the late 90's I was still running my BBS the Board of Oblivion out of Kokomo Indiana, my dad had introduced me to the Kabbalah and I was starving for more data, somehow I made contact with someone in the UK who I do not remember the name right now, who made a floppy disk and sent it to me with a file about the Kabbalah, I printed it out and dove in. I have been studying ever sense working with meditations and creative visualization within the structure of the Kabbalah for a few decades now. It all really took off for me thanks to that document that was signed Colin Low at the bottom of the page.....Thank you so much!!!!Dave

The book I liked most about Kabbalah from the hermetic perspective. The perfect balance between schoolarship and accesible information. Very well structured and instructive.

An incredibly well researched and thoughtfully presented work. I am sure this book will quite rightly be regarded as a authoritative text on the subject. It has taken prime position on my burgeoning book shelves!
