Simpson Aluminum Series 3400 PSI Gas Pressure Washer, 2.5 GPM, Honda GX200

Wanted to wait for some time to pass before making a real a review on my pressure washer. Purchased in sep 2021 and it’s now Jan 2025, so I have used it for 3 warm seasons since I only use it during the warmer months in PA. Did A LOT of researching before pulling the trigger on getting this unit. Some might think it’s expensive for someone who may only use it for home use and not commercial, but it’s perfect and reliable! I wanted something that would be versatile and beneficial with all projects. I always do the recommended maintenance and when storing for winter I winterize it. Maintenance is key for anything and I believe taking care of this will make it last for years of use. Main selling points for me and things I like: - CAT AAA pump, Honda engine, warranty, GPM, heavy duty but “light weight” frame/wheels, and being able to not worry about damaging the pressure washer if you release the handle while it’s running (not something I do often but know that’s a big no no when it comes to other pressure washers that don’t have the feature to allow this. High PSI and also the ability to lower the rpm’s to use it for lighter duty tasks. My complaints over the years: - The rubber feet that come with this unit are garbage, plan on replacing them with bigger and better feet because these ones will not last and the pressure washer will walk around on you. - I wish there was a better design for changing the oil, it’s a pain in the butt but with the right set up it wouldn’t be a big deal - It a little awkward when wheeling it around but it’s not a big deal and is only heavy if you are picking it up by yourself to go up stairs or things like that. Overall I would highly recommend this and would purchase again! Hope this helps you :)

LOVE THIS PRESSURE WASHER!!! I needed a new Pressure washer after 20 years. I was lookin g around for something with the Honda motor since the old one had it, and it is still runnning. I research on manufactures and this is what I came up with. That they are all made with the same motors and components with someone else name slapped on it. I decided to go with Simson since they have been in the pressure washer buiness for quite some time. Once I recieved it, I did not open for a few days, but when I did, this is what I found. Very well package with spray in foam at all key impact points on the box. ( Some reviews mentioned poor packaging) Maybe this has been corrected. Assembly went easily, and quickly . After removing all tags and inspecting all bolts I went to the wheels, and lo and behold one of the c clips were missing to hold the wheel on, just like some of the reviews stated. I actually bursted out laughing, and cannot figer out why this has not been correct. To me it was not big deal. I contacted Amazon customer support through chat on the website. They coould not send me a replacment c clip, but this is what they offered. 1st excahnge or send back for refund. I know I have read reviews where customer support would not take returns, so I am thinking something more was going on with that machine and customer. 2nd offer to give me the manufacutre customer service number to get a replacement c clip. I kept the pressure washer, went to Ace, got the .65 cent C Clip and was done. I get it, you pay a lot of money for this pessure washer. Just sometimes s@!# happens. Life on Life terms. I gave this a 5 star for 2 reasons. 1 The machine preformed to every expections I had on it. 2 Amazon customer service.

I ordered this product with some trepidation. The reviews were mixed and caused some skepticism. I went ahead and ordered and waited to see what experience I would have The unit came via UPS not Amazon. The description communicated the unit would be delivered by Amazon my preferred shipper The unit arrived one day early via UPS. Not a deal breaker but I expected Amazon The box was in rough shape. The tape was literally falling off. I was disappointed with the way it arrived fearing it was a return. I believe it fell out of the box at some point during shipping. After a lengthy inspection I filled the unit with oil and replaced the pump vent cap hooked up the water and hoses. Gave it a pull and it started right up I used the unit for hours and it never missed a beat. I was happy that the unit itself was perfect. Simpson if you are listening you might think of how these units are shipping and the packaging of the unit. Foam might be the ticket but poor handling is never going to be overcome by foam. This unit was repacked and it was done poorly. I received extra parts and two owners manuals I am happy with my purchase and it is an incredible machine one I am proud to own. Longevity is what I am counting on time will tell

The Good: This unit is lightweight, but built solid. Great to move around and store. I have no worries about it lasting for a long time. The flow rate and pressure are excellent, it does a great job as a pressure washer. The quick connect fittings on each end of the hose are very convenient and allow additional hose sections and easy storage. So now that I have it up and running, I give it 4 stars as a product. I would buy it again with some caveats as listed at the bottom of this review. The Less Than Good: 25' of hose just doesn't seem like enough. I noted the Northern Tool units come with 50' standard, although the units are heavier and more expensive. I've since procured a second hose so that I can couple them together for 50'. I also find starting a little hard following their directions. When you pull to start, you're spinning the pump which immediately starts to build up backpressure. This resistance makes starting the engine hard. The directions say after two pulls, pull the trigger on the wand to release pressure. That makes it so you don't tear your shoulder on the third pull, but it's still too much resistance for the engine to want to start cold. However, it is a GX series Honda engine which should start easy. And I found that if I held the trigger down on the wand while pulling, it would start on the first pull when cold. A little tricky the first time to hold the trigger and brace against the machine so that you can pull with your other hand, but definitely doable. The Bad: Packaging! They put this 80# unit in a heavy cardboard box with a couple of additional pieces of cardboard inside. Package weight said 86#. What's UPS going to do with an 86# box? Probably drop it a lot. While the outside of my package looked fine when it showed up, the wheels and frame were bent apparently from the inertia of the pump/motor continuing to try to reach the floor when the box was dropped. I think some Styrofoam or other support besides the tires would help. My first one also was shipped with the wrong wand; it would not connect to the hose that came with it. Simpson was helpful and pleasant to deal with and sent me out a new hose (and some new wheels to replace the originals.) I decided to wait instead of returning to Amazon even though there was a slight backorder. However, the new hose didn't work either. At that point I just contacted Amazon for a replacement. The replacement showed up promptly, but there was a small hole in the box that seemed inconsequential. I didn't even notice until later when I started having some problems. I realized it was made by the protruding hose coupling on the pump coming through the cardboard (probably when dropped or tipped over). I realized this after running the new pump and finding that I had problems with water leaking. A call to technical support led me to believe that whatever caused unit to poke through the box also caused damage to the second unit. I have since been able to resolve my problems, but it was a bit of a pain. So as I started to say above, I would buy one of these units again. However, I would seriously consider buying one locally instead of having it shipped. That said, Amazon is wonderful to deal with for returns these days, so if I wasn't so stubborn and had simply pulled the trigger on returning sooner I may have had an easier time of it.

When it is working, it’s so powerful and smooth. Design and built seems and feels high end and durable, however, it is VERY HARD to start. If the first full doesn’t start, no chance to start at second attempt. I owned gas pressure washer for almost 30 years, none of previous ones does that. It is way more pickier than my previous Excel. The Excel lasts 15 years for me. First, it is picky about fresh gas, it refused to start while brand new maybe just because the gas was two months old, now again, it won't start because the gas was almost two months again. My previous Excel can use gas more than 6 months old, Simpson engine is a princess--high maintenance picky machine. Second, the pressure built up so fast, if the first attempt wasn't successful, no way to start at the second. Even my neighbor who got a cheaper model of Simpson said this one is TIGHT. I'm so SCARED of starting it every time, needs a lot of pulls and luck. Excel only needs about 1-2 seconds of release pressure , this Simpson really needs 30 seconds to try my second luck. To start the machine is a TWO man job, one has to release the trigger on the other end constantly!! Third, even if I'm lucky to start it, it coughs/farts often and I have to be very careful to move the engine from choke to normal SLOWLY, otherwise it stops. Fourth, it gives farts loud several times when switched to off position. None of my previous ones did that, not once. Now I have to get used to the random noise after spending $800! Ordered one electric pressure washer last night, I'm done with the gas one especially with NO HELP from the seller...weird from day 1 Tech support is NOT responsive at all! My question never received answer.

This was originally going to be a four-star review but...(read on)... I bought this to replace an old Husky electric pressure washer I found on clearance and the big orange store about fifteen years ago. While it still worked, it wasn't very powerful and not much good for anything other than washing the car. I needed something to clean my travertine pool deck, pool waterline, and paver driveway and walks. I also wanted something I knew would be reliable so I wanted a Honda GX engine and CAT pump. This unit checked all of the boxes. Having used it three times so far, I can say I'm not at all disappointed in the performance. It started right up, ran flawlessly, and cleaned everything it needed to quite easily. I did add an inductive hour meter to it before I tarted it up for the first time so I could track the usage for proper maintenance. A few tips...buy a short gun and a long hose. Both will come in handy. It comes with a 25 foot hose so I bought a 50 foot hose (same hose from Simpson) and can connect them for 75 feet of hose. If you have a larger area to clean, you'll appreciate not having to move the machine much. Also, get a surface cleaner. It will cut your work time an a horizontal surface tremendously. I bought a 14" one and I guess a bigger one would have make things a bit faster, but the one I bought was a good compromise between cost and performance. So, why was this going to be a four-star review? Well, the few times I used it, one of the wheels kept falling off as the "E" clip would constantly vibrate off the axel. I kept putting it back on, believing I had it properly seated and it kept falling off. Frustrated, I called the customer service number and they are sending a new "E" clip. While this may solve the problem, I can't really be sure it's not a bad axel that the clip won't properly seat in. So, I emailed Simpson through the "Contact Us" link on the website and within a couple of hours had a response that they are sending me a new axel and clip. Things have issues from time to time but how issues are handled matters. The quick answer to my inquiry and no questions asked (other than my name, address, and unit serial number and purchase date) response was enough for me to be satisfied and provide the five-star review.

Great machine looking forward to many years of service. Out of it. Thank you, Simpson

Arrived perfectly sealed and undamaged, no dings as some have mentioned. The pressure washer does what it should. It can be a bit difficult to start if pressure builds in the hose with each pull. Just squeeze trigger and release pressure, simple enough to fix and not really a “fault” as pressure is what it does. It is just something to note. The hose, sucks. It constantly wants to coil. It works yes, but you will fight it. Invest in a better hose. No complaints about the machine itself. Ran well, maintained pressure, no sputters or stops. Tires roll well as they are large relative to the machine. Overall pleased, just replace the hose.

I bought this pressure washer to replace my old one I've had for years, and give myself a bit more psi for tougher jobs. Assembly out of the box was simple and took no time to put together. Starting unit for first time was not too bad. Throttle needs to be on full for all starts. Instructions say otherwise. And it is a little inconvenient to have to hold trigger on wand in to release pressure to just to start unit once you stop and turn motor off. But it's not bad once you get the hang of it. I cleaned for 3hrs first time out and didn't have any issues whatsoever. I didn't even have to use soap on my trucks the pressure washer is strong enough to remove dirt and other grit no problem. This unit is well worth the money. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to do every kind of pressure washing job and get it done quick and efficiently.

Love it

Really like the unit. Honda engine proves pretty reliable. I don’t like that the unit won’t self unload. It means once you have the pump loaded, if you stop and go to restart, you need to hold the gun trigger and unload while starting as the engine can’t be pulled while there is pressure.

It lasted for about 30 hrs . I believe the pump is not working as no pressure. I comment when I first used it . It was very shakey . Not to surprise it did not last long.
