Review: Works perfectly! - Although modding a classic iPod is considered "difficult" by some, I've opened my iPod before (to install a larger hard drive) so this was not a problem. It was good that this kit included two different pry tools. An old credit card can also help to keep the already-separated parts apart while you pry on the other side of the case. (Yes, pry. Believe it or not, iPods are snapped together like childrens' toys.) So, installation was fairly easy. Just one comment: Once you get the two pieces separated, be careful not to separate them too quickly or too far! You can break a cable. The old battery was just not holding a charge for long. That is no longer a problem. I can't really compare the runtime of this battery to the old one because the old one was... well, old. A fair comparison would be to a new battery of the type I had previously. But, I don't have a new one of that type. I'll just have to say that runtime has not been a problem either. FIT PROBLEMS: The new battery fit PERFECTLY in the iPod. I see several reviews where buyers complained that their iPod would not close completely after installation. They simply bought the wrong battery (or tried to put it in the wrong iPod). Here's the story: There were two different varieties of "iPod Video 5th Generation", one that came with a smaller hard drive, and one that came with a 60 or 80 GB hard drive. The latter models were thicker to accommodate the larger drive, and this battery will only fit in those models. So - only buy this product if your iPod video 5th gen came with a 60 or 80 GB hard drive. It's that simple. Review: Order mix up - Maybe this was my fault or there's but I have a 30gb iPod and I ordered this thinking they all had the same size battery. I received the item quick and packaging was good, however once isntalled on iPod I noticed it wouldnt close. The iPod worked fine with it but upon further inspection of the battery I noticed it was slightly thicker than the original and it also stated "60gb" on the battery itself. I just kept it and holding it till I find a 60 gb that needs it.

Works and Fits as Described in my iPod Video 5th Gen 80GB
Battery fits perfectly in my iPod Video 5th Generation with 80 GB hard drive. The tools make it easy to install. Took me about 10 minutes from start to finish after reading some step by step instructions I found online. I've been using the iPod regularly since I installed it (February of 2014) discharging and recharging the battery. It holds a charge like the factory battery did when it was new.

Broke my Ipod
When I ordered this item - I took into consideration the exact model of IPod that I had. They sent me what I ordered, with instructions on how to do it. I followed the instructions and installed it, but when I tried to snap on the back, I felt resistance, which I thought were just the tabs, but when I looked closer, I could see that the new battery was fatter than the old battery, and just could not physically fit into the space. I ended up cracking my screen on the IPod, which is now useless. I blame myself for buying a cheaper product.

I have a 5th Generation 60 Gig video. This ...
I have a 5th Generation 60 Gig video. This battery worked perfectly as soon as I installed it, starting out with about 75% charge. However, this battery is about a 16th of inch too thick, and now my iPod won't close all the way (the battery sits behind the screen), due to the screen not being able to rest correctly. Also, the spudgers (blue plastic tools) that came with this kit are too soft and pliable to truly effective. 2 stars instead of 1 due to the battery working.

New life for my iPod
The most important part, the battery, was the right size and fit for my iPod model. The plastic pry bars definitely help but aren't quite durable enough for performing a first time opening of the iPod. Don't plan on being able to reuse the plastic pry bars as mine were pretty beat up upon completion. New battery made a world of difference and breathed new life into my iPod.
