Go to for everything skin!
I love Grandma El's. Smells great, goes on great, and works! Our daughter has never had a diaper rash and we use this when we start to note a little redness in her bottom. By the next change, it's all gone. This is also one of the few diaper creams compatible with cloth diapers. Update 3/23/17: Been using this cream for four years now and wanted to update on a couple of things. Still prefer this product above all other creams. 1. Price- yes it's more expensive than other creams but a tub goes a long way. In 4 years, I've only purchased 4 of these. 2. Effectiveness - for minor redness this stuff works great and is effective within hours. For severe diaper rash, like any other product you have to lather this on like icing on cake. You have to put a lot so that the skin underneath gets a chance to heal without being exposed to the acidity of urine. If you do that, it will wipe out the rash but it will take a day or two much like other diaper rash creams. 3. Eczema- my daughter has moderate eczema and I've tried every cream recommended but nothing seemed to moisturizer and protect her skin well enough. One day I notice an eczematous rash on her bum and decided to put grandma els on it. The next day her rash wasn't inflamed anymore and her skin felt and looked more moisturizer. This was the aha moment. I decided to buy a tub and use it specifically as moisturizer for the entire body and within a day, the dryness decreased, her skin felt moisturized, and the redness and itching went down significantly. Needless to say, I use this for her eczema now exclusively. It does make the skin look shiny but it wouldn't have been any different with Vaseline. Overall this is a great product with multiple uses for kids. I can imagine that this would also be great for sunburn and overall skin dryness.

Best Diaper Rash Cream Out there!!!
I have tried a few diaper rash creams on my daughter and this seems to be the only one that really works. I switched to using Desitin because I ran out of this stuff and my daughter ended up getting diaper rash with Desitin so I'm now ordering this in bulk to prevent from running out again. I had to return the last shipment because it was left on my doorstep on a hot day and unfortunately both jars melted. I returned them both for a full refund though and ordered more. I will never run out again, this is the best one I have found for prevention so far. It smells FANTASTIC and does not leave too much of a residue on diapers (I use disposable) but it is safe for cloth I have heard. It appears to be very soothing on my daughter and has a vaseline type texture. My daughter has never cried when putting grandma el's on her, however she has with desitin especially the maximum strength desitin. I received grandma el's as a shower gift from one of my best friends who swears by it and I am happy to report she was RIGHT!! Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!!!!!

Love it!
My friend recommended this diaper rash ointment to me when I was looking for something new to try, and this has become my favorite diaper rash cream! Whenever my daughter starts to get a diaper rash, I use this, and within a few uses her bum is already starting to look much better! It seems to especially work well when her bum looks a little dry or scaly, but it works great for redness too. It is cloth diaper safe and works the same way Vaseline or A&D ointment would work, but is more natural. I feel much better using this on my baby's bottom. I actually kind of like the way it smells, too. It isn’t really “scented”, per say, but has just a hint of odor that I tend to like. Don’t let that deter you, though, it’s really not that noticeable. If you found this review helpful, I would very much appreciate you giving me a "thumbs up". And if you have any questions, I'd be more than willing to answer them to the best of my ability!

Amazzzzzzing!
Exactly what i remembered when I used it almost 13 years ago for my baby when i found it at a random target. So happy it hasn't changed. Smells delicious like old school strawberry shortcake dolls and scented my little pony. Super moisturizing and long lasting. 0 negatives! So glad the formula is the same!

The best so far
Our cloth-diapered son has had persistent issues with diaper rash. Just in case the details are helpful: the rash was not on his bottom, it was on the front of his crotch and a bit around his legs where his diapers rub. It did not seem to be caused by wetness, because it usually improved when he slept in a soaked diaper overnight. The rash got pretty bad (bright red and blistery) over a period of about a month and a half, and this was the third diaper cream we tried. The competitors included: CJ's BUTTer-- smelled delicious (we had the coconut lime), but didn't really seem to do anything. The stick form was much easier to apply and possibly worked slightly better than the squeeze bottle form. Earth Mama Angel Baby-- I liked the lavender smell, but my husband didn't. We weren't a fan of the shea butter chunks that didn't spread well and made us feel like we were rubbing grit against our baby's tender bottom. It did seem to help somewhat. I suspect that it may be good at rash prevention, or for healing a minor rash, but it didn't get rid of our rash. Grandma El's has a pretty mild and inoffensive odor, although I wouldn't call it pleasant. It spreads well and it's easy to get an even, thin coating. It improved my son's rash right away, and cleared it up after a day or two of use. We've been using this product pretty consistently, and we still get frequent rash issues, but the rash never progresses beyond pale pink. So it's not perfect, but compared to what we were dealing with before, this is a big improvement. We've been using this for about two months and have had zero issues with staining or repelling on our cloth diapers, which are mostly BumGenius Freetimes and Tots Bots Easy Fits (the old kind, with the bamboo instead of the minky).

Works GREAT!
EFFECTIVE! We use cloth diapers, and had a hard time finding a rash cream that worked for us (options are more limited than with disposables). After trying 3 other CD safe brands, we found Grandma El's. Her rash cleared up within ONE diaper change!! A little goes a long way and is extremely effective for treating - and better yet, preventing! - diaper rash. It's very thick, which is what you want in a barrier...I find that if I warm it first using my thumb and index finger, it is easier to apply and I can get a nice, even layer. CD SAFE! We have been using Grandma El's for over a month now with most diaper changes and have not had any issues with build up on our diapers, as others report. Maybe this depends on wash routine and diaper type? We have soft water, and our wash routine is cold wash/rinse (no soap), warm wash/rinse (with Rockin Green detergent Rockin' Green Classic Rock Smashing Watermelons 45/90 Loads and we haven't had any issues. As far as diapers, we use mostly BG 4.0s bumGenius One-Size Cloth Diaper 4.0 -Sweet - Snap , itti bitti tuttos Itti Bitti Bitti Tutto One-size Cloth Diaper, Jade and prefolds OsoCozy 6 Pack Prefolds Unbleached Cloth Diapers, Size 1 ). I also wonder whether using more of the salve than necessary would contribute to build up?
