Worth it!
Merino wool is the best at regulating temperature without making your overheat or too cold during hikes. It is pretty good at wicking small raindrops. I used this as a thermal under layer and also just as hiking pants without anything over. It is not see-though, but thick enough. It did stretch out a bit at the end of the day with long hikes, which I expected it being wool. Make sure you wash in cold water only and let it air dry since it is wool.

Kept me warm in the Arctic
I bought these for a recent trip to Lapland in the Arctic Circle while staying in an ice hotel. These were my base layer with additional layers on top and they kept me warm in -1 degrees Fahrenheit temperatures.

I'm Keeping Them!!
Update 02-29-24:I just found out these are so much less expensive on their website than they are here. I've written Smartwool and will update my review once they respond.I may end up returning these.Yeah, they are expensive, but I was preparing for a Viking festival I was vending outside at, where I was standing outside, in very cold, wintery Michigan weather, for upwards of 14 hours a day, for 3 days in a row. I was hoping it wouldn't be that cold, but it was. Thankfully, I had ordered these Smartwool thermal long johns on the Try Before You Buy" program. They saved me. I thought I'd be sending them back unused at the end of the weekend. Nope! I'm keeping them.Yeah, they are expensive, but they are worth every penny I paid. I could see my breath and my face felt freezer burnt, but the only thing that was cold on me were my toes, fingers, and face. Now I need shoes, gloves, and a mask made of Smartwool.

They are not perfect!
I like these bottoms a lot-great fit for slim legs, long enough for tall people, comfortable to wear, and nice looking. The downside for me is that the fabric picks up every piece of dust or hair. Although they are good looking leggings; in cold weather they are not warm enough for me to wear to go out walking without something over them. I prefer the Smartwool Sport Moto tights but they no longer make them.

Perfect fit, but itchy.
I really wanted to like these as I prefer natural material over polyester. However, I put them on two different times and both times I felt that they were too itchy for me to be able to keep, so I will be returning. Such a shame too, because they fit me perfectly at the waist and in length.
