For the price, these are fairly sturdy outlets. You know, sometimes you get the cheap ones that feel like they'll break as soon as you install them, but these are not those. These were easy to install and worked well. You have to hit the reset button to get them to work initially though, not sure if this is standard with all GFCI's or just this particular brand, and the button is pretty hard to push, but not insurmountable. I was very pleased with them.

I replaced my 10 year old gfci outlets with this. The old ones were tripping all the time whenever we plugged something to it.We haven't had any wrong tripping after installing these leviton outlets. I hope they'll last longer than our previous ones.I liked that they have a safety feature that will not let the outlet operate if the gfci is not wired properly. The installation manual is also well written, so installing it yourself is painless. Once the outlet is wired correctly and energized, a small green led will be on. The led is bright enough to be visible in daylight, but is still discrete.I tested the outlet with the built in test button and a gfci tester. It works well !

I suppose an electrical engineer might have a knowledgeable review for this product. I'm not an electrical engineer, so I'll just say that the instructions were very well done, sufficiently simple for the average homeowner to safely follow. The product itself appears to be well made, and the brand name has a good reputation (as far as I know).GFCI receptacles do wear out, according to my limited Internet research. The internal circuitry that senses a fault does wear down, and will trip 'false' problems.The old GFCI receptacle had worn down to the point of randomly tripping a few times a week. Since it was the first receptacle in a circuit of four, random tripping was very irritating. It also left the freezer in the garage out of power when it decided to trip. If no one was home all day, the freezer, sitting in a summertime hot garage, would be dripping in the afternoon.This replacement has been rock solid since I installed it a couple of months ago. The reset button is much harder to push than the old one, but, I haven't needed to push it since the installation. I feel much better that I won't likely lose a freezer full of groceries every time I leave the house. I still haven't abandoned my old habit of looking at the receptacle indicator light every time I return home.

I got about 10 of these to replace old, probably dangerous outlets in my new (to me) condo. Though I know my way around a screwdriver, I'd never done outlets before. Make sure to get a circuit tester to make sure the outlet is turned off before uninstalling - I got one for about $10 from home depot. The instructions were clear and though the load wires took me a minute to understand, the instructions walked me through it and I'm happy to say that all of these outlets work extremely well. Highly recommend if you are looking for GFCI outlets!

WARNING! Some people claim they had defective units right out of the box. I thought that's what I had at first. I installed it one wire at a time from the old unit to the new unit presuming this would ensure proper wiring. It turned out that the "load" wires on the old unit were at the bottom and the "line" wires were the top pair. After removing the new unit and verifying which pair in my box were from the breaker box and which were to the second outlet, I installed it properly and it worked. Look on your old unit to make sure you are getting the load and line wires right. Great price. Arrived on time.

Item appeared to have been installed previously (box damaged, and yellow tape used to cover load terminals on a new unit missing). Since its a $10 GFCI and Amazon has a generous return policy, I really didn't care if it had been used, as long as it worked. I installed it and could not get it to reset. Reread instructions and installed in other locations, still wouldn't work... Made in China, appears to be a decently made, quality receptacle, but didn't work right out of the box. Two stars for the build quality and manufacturer, and Amazons easy return policy.***EDIT*** Sometimes we have to admit to our mistakes...After installing this and having it not work I assumed the GFCI was at fault. I am a serious DIY'er and know my way around residential electrical work, so how could I be wrong? Well, after purchasing a second GFCI and having the same issue, I went around the circuit in question, and found the problem causing the GFCI to trip. So, I have changed my rating to five stars and am contacting Amazon to cancel my return request, as the GFCI was functioning properly. I stand by my comment on the appearance of the GFCI having been installed previously, however.
