Modern Art
What a fantastic book. It broke down each movement and gave you some really great examples of the artists and the work that they have done. It is also a breakdown of the movement and what resulted in the changes and advances in the types and styles of art that was done. We often think that art is done for the sake of doing art but this book gives you some inside information into the movements and the artists behind the movements.

First Time Art Student
I love this book. I'm using this text book for a Modern Art Class that I'm taking. This book is full of information and great photos, of course there is nothing like seeing the paintings in person. The text is very easy to read and very happy for the price that I paid for it...

Very helpful in my studies as a Docent for an art museum. I have no background in Art History so this is very helpful. It's a typical textbook with tons of color pictures. The text is easy to follow and organized well.

Only for Serious Modern Art Enthusiasts
The information in this book and the way it is presented is definitely not lightweight. I am studying interior design, and bought this book for my Modern Art class. The chapters are divided by eras, such as Impressionism, Art Nouveau, and Expressionism. The book covers only the main influential artists of each era, and describes each of them with ample college-level discourse and one or two pictures of their paintings. Think more essay than bulleted notes. While this book is well-written and seemingly accurate, I would not recommend it if you are looking for an entertaining, leisurely addition to your hobby. If you're a student and looking to buy this book for a class, get ready to leaf through a lot of reading.
