Fantastic Little Microphone - Nearly Perfect.
This is a fantastic little mic - it sounds great, works well, doesn't get in the way, and is easily portable. I use it almost every day at work and for broadcasting church meetings via Zoom. The sound is clear, full, and well-balanced out of the box (I use all three modes, depending on the situation), and it looks great too. When the pandemic hit last year, I found myself working from home and using my work laptop's sub-par mic for meetings. While that was passable for work, my personal laptop had a broken microphone array (thanks to a screen repair) and that made private communication difficult. I needed an external mic.The Blue microphones were all but sold out, so I tried using a Blue Snowball Ice microphone, but the lack of a headphone jack for audio feedback was a total deal breaker.Enter Shure → The MV5 had good reviews, was priced decently, and *most importantly* was still available. $99 and two days later, I had a mic. There was one issue with it early on. I had paired it with a USB 4 port switch connected to the work laptop docking station, which seemed to introduce a sampling issue. I sounded like Darth Vader, and people on the other end sounded like they were talking through a fan to me. I adjusted the sampling rates in Windows, but that did little to help. What worked was plugging the mic into a USB port on the laptop. Apparently there was a timing issue between the laptop, docking station, and 4 port switch. Now nearly a year later, this raquetball-sized mic still gets used almost daily. It takes up very little space, whether on my desk or in my backpack - including the stand. I don't even bother taking it off the stand - just unplug it and throw it in the bag. Occasionally the choppy audio problem pops back up, but usually restarting the host program or using another USB port fixes it. It even works with my Android phone.I would recommend getting the USB-C version, since USB-C is becoming more common on computers and phones, but if the Micro-USB is just as good and adapters are easy to find.UPDATE: July 2022, and this mic is still going strong. I misunderstood the difference between the MV5 and MV5C - the "C" doesn't mean USB-C, but "conferencing". If you need USB-C, there are Micro-to-USB-C cables (I'm using one, and the mic works great with it).

Sounds great. Easy to install.
Because I've been full time work-from-home for a year (and hopefully, indefinitely) and have multiple online meetings every week (usually via Google Meet), I really needed a decent mic. This one is near podcast quality. (I don't know if a professional would actually use it, but I think they might find it to be adequate.) At about $100, it's more than most people will probably spend for WFH, but I really want to sound professional and be easily understood in these meetings. This mic works great for me.I haven't tried it with my iPad yet, but I appreciate the fact that it comes with a lightning connector as well as USB.

Great microphone for a PC, gaming and streaming
My son was looking for a microphone for his gaming computer. Headphones with a microphone were always breaking. The issue was, he brings his playstation and headphones to a friend's house all the time.Through a lot of research, we decided on this Shure microphone. Upon his first use, he was thrilled with the sound quality. His friends said that he actually sounded like himself. In addition, this microphone is incredibly portable and he takes it with him whenever he goes to a friend's. I would absolutely recommend this to others.

Works Great at Great Price
After a couple of months, I have to say I'm glad I bought this mic. It works as well or better than my old Yeti, for a lot less money and weight. I am a bit partial to Blue microphones, but as an old ham radio operator, I'm quite familiar with the Shure brand. It looks cool, stands up well on a flat surface and according to people in conference calls with me it sounds incredible. I always get compliments in Skype calls. As with any mic I've tried on Macbooks, it doesn't come back from sleep most times; you have to unplug it and plug it in again. But that's an Apple thing. My only nit on Shure is the placement of the hardware mute button on the back. You have to fiddle with the mic to find it and push it in, which causes your audience to hear noise. So I usually use the software mute button on Skype. But it's very nice to have an option other than a headset. Using a headset all day for conference calls, like a gaming headset with boom mic, can be painful to your ears.

Outstanding for zoom etc.
This desktop mic is perfect for podcasting, zooming, and project narration. I have half a dozen other mics and this is my go-to for basic tasks. The foam is on the inside and the form factor sitting on one's desk as it gently glows make a fine addition to any home studio.

I love this product
I love this product. I just got it about a week ago and I've run some tests creating video's with the Shure and there is no question that voice recordings are a factor of 10 improved. I would give it a 5 but my stand came bent almost in half and when I tried to bend it back using my hands it snapped. It doesn't really matter I was sorta planning on using it sitting under my monitor anyway. Thanks SHURE! great product.

Value for money
My son use it for his online school. Even if he speaks softly, this mic can pick it up so well.

Much better than expected
Ok so Shure make legendary and industry standard products from earbuds/monitors to Mikes.Initially I bought it for my daughter who has recorded some amazing tracks with it, then I bought this one for some voice over work I needed to do in a hurry and the studio was closed.best used with a pop filter but a genuinely stunning mic, Shure software is fairly east to use but is much better with Garageband (thank you daughter) and LogicproIn short great value, great product, use a pop filter

Disappointing
Hmm. Always owned shure products... but this is disappointing. To be honest, I struggle to notice any difference in sound quality between this and my iPhone XR built in microphone.

very annoyed
i primarily wanted to use the device for my mac, it worked flawlessly for the best part of 2 months.I decided to use the device with my mobile phone, and it worked well there too, however, when i returned to my mac to use it again, the microphone wouldn't connect, and allow me to use it with my laptop, very dissapointed.
