This WORKS!!!! My story is long but if you are considering buying please read.....
Bear with me as my story may get long.... I want to say that I read so many of the reviews on this product before deciding to purchase it. I made a great decision and couldn't be happier that we went for it. Here is my review: I have 4 kids. All about a year apart. My two girls were potty trained early and never had a problem at night. My two sons were potty trained around 3 years old. My youngest son never had an issue with nighttime wetting but my other son, Patrick, continued to wet each night so we always just kept him in a diaper. He is 5 1/2 now and recently became embarrassed that he had to wear diaper to bed. The Huggies size 6 diapers were getting very snug on him and I had tried the other nighttime options and he had soaked through all of them. Patrick was getting embarrassed when he would have a babysitter at night who would have to put him in a diaper before bed. He was embarrassed that his younger brother went to bed with underwear on and he was wearing a diaper. He started to refuse to wear diaper and when I tried him in underwear he would wet the bed every night multiple times a night. My husband and I started a system where we would put him in underwear at night and wake him several times. We did this for over a month every single night. I was exhausted, my husband was exhausted and so was my son. And he STILL wet the bed because we didn't always time it right and we would be too late in waking him many times. We were all frustrated. Which is when I found Chummie. I was skeptical. As I am with everything. But I trust reviews and decided to go for it. After all, we couldn't continue to wake my son and there didn't seem to be a change in my sons wetting habits at night no matter how diligent we were about making sure he went to the bathroom multiple times before bed and limiting his after dinner liquids. So we bought Chummie and honestly, it was the best thing we could have done. The first week or so Patrick wet the bed even with Chummie. The alarm would go off and I would meet him in his room or the bathroom and change him, change his sheets and wash the censor with warm water (after each and every wet.) Then put the Chummie back on and he would wet again even with the alarm going off. The directions do say this process takes weeks or months so I was prepared that is wasn't going to work overnight. Patrick didn't love the Chummie to be honest. He disliked the alarm. Which, by the way, he never slept through. He always heard it and woke up and got up even if he had already wet the bed. We always talked it up and told him it would take time. We really encouraged him and told him this was how we were going to get him out of diapers and wetting the bed for good. He seemed to understand more as each night went on but he would get frustrated that it wasn't an immediate fix. He never complained about it as far as comfort goes. The clip seemed fine and not to bother him. The wire didn't bother him either. We used one adhesive strip and two pairs of underwear as I read in the reviews which worked great and we never had a problem with it slipping off! My biggest complaint with this system, however, is that even with frequent wiping and rinsing with warm water, it would occasionally go off with out seemingly any, not even one drop, of urine in the underwear. Patrick would cry and say "but I didn't have an accident!!!" and he was right and I explained that sometimes even the best products make mistakes;) That was frustrating for him though. That brings me to today. It's been about 4 weeks since using Chummie and Patrick almost never has accidents at night anymore. He still wears the chummie and will continue to wear it for a couple more weeks until I am sure he is free of accidents. Now, when the alarm goes off, he gets up and I meet him in the bathroom and he finishes urinating in the toilet. He hasn't wet the bed in weeks. He even sleeps through the night most nights now with out having accidents or having to go to the bathroom at all! He is so proud of himself and has so much more confidence when it's time to get pajamas on. I know that it takes some children much longer, and I know we are not completely out of the woods with Patrick just yet, but taking this step was the best thing we could have done for him! You will have interrupted sleep and long nights but it is worth it in the end! Oh and one more tip, I eventually found bed wetting pads that you can put on the bed so when accidents occur you don't have to change the sheets every single time. That was also HUGE for me as that took so much time multiple times a night and would frustrate Patrick because he was so tired and just wanted to go back to bed. We are very happy with this product and are so thankful for the outcome we are experiencing!

Disappointing, wish I'd purchased something else
I have repeatedly woken up to a wet child with an unplugged alarm...the way the sensor plugs into the Chummie is just too easy for a half-asleep kid to unplug. We started using tape to create an obstacle to unplugging it in his sleep, but would wake up to it still being unplugged. I really thought the only problem was that it was too easy to unplug, but was awake with another child in the early hours this morning, heard the alarm go off for approx. 5 seconds and then turn off...I assumed he'd unplugged it again. When a few minutes passed and he hadn't come out to use the bathroom, I went in to his room and found my son asleep. I went to wake him up, pulling back the covers and discovering that the Chummie's lights were flashing, but there was NO SOUND OR VIBRATION. The sensor was still plugged in, the alarm was just not sounding like it should. As he rolled over, all of a sudden the sound and vibration restarted. He'd wet when the alarm first went off and was soaked. I have no idea how long it's been malfunctioning like this, but no wonder my son didn't associate that it was time to wake up if it wasn't alarming consistently. While I had no issues with the tapes sticking to undergarments, I do wish that they weren't labeled the way they are. As the mom of an older child with this issue, trying to keep the use of the alarm secret was important to him and having things labeled as "bedwetting solution" in the trash doesn't help. The extremely juvenile appearance of the Chummie was another issue, nighttime enuresis effects plenty of older children who are often very embarrassed about their issue...having something that looks "babyish" doesn't help with that. I had concerns about the appearance of the Chummie when I purchased it, but went ahead based on the reviews, only to find out that it just didn't work well. I wish I'd spent some more time reading the lower starred reviews, before purchasing. One more thing, I did not like the setup for how you choose the alarm style or the volume control. It is hard to use and is poorly designed. Overall, this was a very disappointing purchase and I have gone ahead and ordered another product that I probably should have bought in the first place.

Absolute success story for our 7 year old over a reasonable amount of time !
Our story was like many in these reviews. We have two boys, a 4th grader and a 2nd grader. Our 4th grader never ever has had night time accidents, and our second grader has peed the bed every single night of his life and therefore always been in pull-ups. We aren't dumb parents, we have limited any fluids after dinner, made sure that he tried to go several times in the run up to bedtime. We did the waking him up from a completely dead sleep before we went to bed to go, only to have a completely full pull-up in the AM. We talked to our pediatrician who we are usually lock step with, and she discouraged an alarm saying that it would be a waste of our money and that he would simply have to grow out of it. But - our son really wanted to progress out of this phase, and I was tired of buying pull-ups for a seven year old, so decided to give this alarm a whirl. The reviews on here are mixed, but I have a close friend that used it for her two kids with success which is why I chose to buy this one (and how I heard about this specific model in the first place). We followed the method that I think the (very poorly written Chinese) instructions laid out, but that other reviewers here did. We had our son wear a pair of underwear, taped the sensor on and put another pair over that and then pajama bottoms. What was interesting is that I learned that our son was peeing the bed at exactly 1:10 AM and 4:30AM every single night - very consistently. I have no idea why, he wasn't getting water in the middle of the night, just how his body works I guess. The first few nights are rough. This alarm is LOUD (which I get is the point). It took some getting used to, and honestly there were several times at first that my kid is such a deep sleeper that he had basically a smoke alarm level noise going off next to his head and he wasn't waking up. We'd get him awake when this happened and take care of things. This rough phase (having the alarm go off, but he's already soaked his PJs and the bed) was only about a 2-3 week period and was not every night. Some nights he's wake up the second the alarm went off and be okay, some nights he'd sleep through it, pee too much and then wake up and we'd need to change him and the bed. Now - We are about seven weeks on the other side of this and what a difference. I did think that this alarm would teach him to wake up when he needs to go, but what has mainly happened is that he is able to hold it all night. We are still having him wear it, and I will hear it go off at like 530, but he just goes and is totally self sufficient. At that point in the night, he just removes the alarm and goes back to bed and is totally fine. We are so close to being done done with it, but I haven't changed wet, peed on sheets or PJs for weeks. Summary notes: -Save your self the headache and do the thing where you make the bed with a waterproof mattress pad, a set of sheets, another waterproof mattress pad and another set of sheets over that. Having to just rip off a layer of bedding at 1:00AM vs changing a bed is night and day in my ability to go back to bed (and in our case, our boys share a room and the one with the alarm is on the top bunk). We limited stuffies and other blankets etc as much as possible in the initial phase to make bed changing easier. -Having the clean underwear and fresh pajamas ready to go in the bathroom for the start of things when they aren't waking up in time and need to change clothes helps so much. Anything to reduce nighttime fumbling around. -THe part that detects moisture is SENSITIVE, which is good cause that's the point. Have your kiddo have gone pee and done all that before putting this thing on, or you may risk a false alarm. Our Kiddo isn't a warm sleeper so sweat triggers were never an issue. I'd think that putting a pull-up over this thing as some have suggested would really lead to false alarms. Plus - be done with them and give your kid the chance to fail a little. -On that above note - we traveled some during this or had guests that we didn't want to wake up. We did just use pull-ups in those cases. I do not feel like there was any regression. It actually gave me a metric of how much dryer he was in the morning vs before the alarm process. You don't need to feel like you have to have 2-3 months of uninterrupted time to tackle this. -I don't know the appropriate age for this. I will say that my kid is seven and half. It's been immensely helpful for me that he can tell time and put the alarm on and (more importantly) take it off on his own. As he's improved we've just told him, "If the alarm goes off after 3:00am and you aren't wet (meaning it detected the lightest amount of pee and he caught it), just go to the bathroom and take the alarm off for the night. He is capable of doing that, which helps us be able to keep sleeping and puts him in charge of the process. All that to say, I am guessing if you were doing this with a four year old, you'd be up more. If you told me though that I could have been up more when he was four and have this phase three years in the dust, believe me, I would have done the work. -Design note: The sensor piece attaches to the main alarm via a headphone type connection at 90 degrees. We had a problem that it kept popping out. We finally just decided to rubber band it once connected and never had a further problem. This was a long review, but this little device really helped out our family. My kid is so proud that he's done with pull ups and isn't wetting the bed. I still have the two sets of sheets and waterproof mattress pads, but can tell we are well on the other side of it. There's so much undo shame around this topic with kids that they "just need to figure it out" or "Are way too old for that". The reality is they are often just deep sleepers and this tool helps them balance the two. My son never would have been at this point without this tool which is why I am giving it five stars

The alarms work but we preferred a different style.
Bought this for my 5 year old who wets the bed every night. We bought this alarm and a Mojoe to try. The Chummie was cute but was uncomfortable for my daughter to wear. Big silicone thing in your crotch not fun. One trick we did do was take boys underwear and stick the sensor in to the peek pocket on the boys undies. Then put another pair of girl undies over it. The wire is long. So we tucked it in between the two undies. In the end, she preferred the mojoe. I also felt that the mojoe was more reactive on vibrate then the chummie. Chummie seemed to take a bit to react after sensor got wet on the vibrate mode. Also I didnโt prefer the toggle to change the settings on the Chummie. You have to press through all the alarms, they are loud, before you get to vibrate. Mojoe you just slide a button. She love the look of the Chummie though so it helped her get use to wearing the alarms. As far as effectiveness both worked as advertised. Both sounded off and got her up out of bed. The first night she was dry. Then for the next week it was bad. She wet the bed three times a night. I was exhausted and ready to quite. My daughter wanted to keep going with it. Thank goodness she did. That night and for the next 5 nights she has been dry! I am sooo happy we tried these alarms. They actually work. Stick with it donโt give up and you will have dry nights. One trick I did while we are going through this process was to buy gorilla pads. We lay it over her sheet. If she has an accident in the middle of the night I just grab it and throw a new one on. No sheet changes in the middle of the night. The pads kept the sheets dry and clean. Time saver for exhausted parents.

Took less than 2 weeks after 6.5 years of every night wetness
First off, I was a bed-wetter myself as a kid. My grandma would make fun of me. My parents would yell at me. I could never sleep over at friends. I HATED life. My daughter is 6 and I talk to her about the problem and let her know how I can relate. She has NEVER had a dry night. She tells me about people making fun of her (like when we went camping and she had to wear a pull-up) and that it hurts her feelings. She gets angry and embarrassed when she has to put a pull-up on at night to go to bed when her little brother doesn't even have to anymore. So I asked her Dr. for advice and said I would like to try to avoid medication if possible. She recommend an alarm and just said to do a little research online. I ALWAYS include my daughter in decisions that are for her as I think that it helps with her willingness to WANT to try. We showed her a few different highly reviewed products and she wanted to try the Chummie. One cool thing it comes with is a progress book that also has instructions. Progress book is broken down by weeks and has 7 pictures and 7 stars on each page. Color 1 picture for every night of use, but you only get to color a star for a dry night. Seems easy, but it gave my daughter a goal and she was looking forward to coloring stars every morning. I was amazed how well this has worked. My daughters confidence is through the roof right now! Completely exceeded expectations. Kind of spendy for about $100, but we cancelled out auto delivery of pull ups. We will be passing this onto one of her cousins to see if it can help her, letting her decide if she wants to just clean the sensor or she can buy a new one for $20. The 1 and only con I found was the included tape to keep the sensor in place. It did not hold at all and was a waste. We used band-aids at first and then realized if you layer undies, you don't need to use anything. Her progress if you want to continue: NIGHT 1- Layered underwear, sensor, pull up, pants. About an hour after falling asleep a very LOUD alarm was blaring from my daughters room. I had positioned it on her collar, so it was shooting right in her ear. This scared the heck out of her and she was saying she didn't want to use the alarm anymore. I calmed her down, and from then on we started placing the clip on the waistband of pants. The alarm did however work, she had a tiny drop of pee in her pants, not a huge puddle. NIGHT 2- She was excited to try it again, but it woke her up 3 times and she was tired the next day NIGHT 3-7 - Continued to use layered underwear, sensor, pull up, pants. She was now putting the alarm in herself. The alarm would go off once at night with the smallest of accidents. The she was removing it for the rest of the night. NIGHT 8-10 - I was tell her to remember to put on her alarm, but she was saying she "forgot" and was trying not to use it. She was waking up at night 1 or 2 times to use the bathroom with no alarm, then waking up in the morning dry. NIGHT 11+ - We decided to just use underwear and not use the alarm at all anymore. She has not had a dry night since and has ever come in to sleep with mommy and daddy. Quick update I wanted to share. My daughter used to wake up in a bad mood when she was wet. Today, she woke up early and made the whole family breakfast (cereal). Since she has been dry it is crazy to see how much happier she is in the mornings. Now we just need to work on getting her some singing lessons... :) UPDATE: After a few weeks as non-use our daughter began to have accidents again unfortunately. We have started using the alarm again. It seems as if it is working once again. Perhaps we will use this for a few weeks after accident free nights begin. Hopefully this will work out much better.

9 year old user
My wife got this for our almost 10 year old son, yes 10. He sleeps like the dead and goes through spells where he is perfectly dry and then for no reason pee's the bed for the better part of a week. We didn't want medication to do something his brain should learn to do on it's own, so we tried this. My wife had the same problem until she was 7 (in the 80s) with a similar device concept and it helped teach her brain to "wake up" to a full bladder that needed to go. This is what we want for our son with the Chummie. He's physically larger than a 4-6 year old for example, so he uses two pieces of tape to hold down the wire which is perfectly long enough to reach from his shoulder to his undies. He complians about the corners of the tape poking him so we cut the corners and round them off, problem solved there. Otherwise they stick on the undies just fine. If your kid is smaller one box should be fine for a while, if not get the extra box of tape. It's loud! It beeps and vibrates and wakes him up which is the point, he presses a button and it keeps flashing until he unplugs it. By this point he's in the bathroom. He unplugs it, and replugs it in. It beeps twice so he knows he's good to go. The drawback, perhaps due to his size is that he moves a TON in his sleep and it sometimes comes unplugged. Or the main device unclips from his shirt, it's like a belt clip. I wish it could pin on or something for more stability. If it wasn't for those two issues it would get 5 stars. He's only almost slept through it once and peed all over his bed in over three weeks of use. That's a ton of laundry my wife hasn't had to do! It is super sensative though, so if he goes to the bathroom before bed (for example) and dribbles a little on his undies and then goes to put the sensor on and plug it in, it goes off! So he needs a new absolutly dry pair of undies. All and all it's a good device, and we were hesitant to buy it because most of them are around one hundred dollars but this has so far worked out well and alleviates allot of worry if he's gonna be dry or not in the morning (and he sleeps in a double sized loft bed, overly freqent sheet changes are NOT fun). If it doesn't work for your kid Amazon will take it back even if it's been peed on, because they are cool like that. If this continues to work for our oldest we will buy a new sensor (the black piece) for our youngest in year or so when he is around five. At this point it works as it's advertised and so it was worth every cent and you wouldn't be wrong to try out this product.

and the inconvenience is a whole better than the nuisance of the daily laundry of the ...
After becoming desperate to get our almost-7 year old to stop wetting the bed, we tried Chummie. While our situation is very different and he hasn't stopped wetting, the progress we've made makes it worth every cent! Our son is somewhat disabled, and although potty-trained in the daytime, for unknown and as-yet undiagnosed reasons, he always seems to be over-hydrated. Combined with his ridiculously small bladder, this resulted in SOAKING wet sheets MULTIPLE times every night. I have worn sheet sets out more times than I can count. We tried EVERYTHING to control the flow--double-diapering, adult diapers, plastic coverings over diapers, cloth diapers inside regular diapers/pullups and plastic on top, bed-wetting pads, limiting fluids, layering the sheets, waking him multiple times a night to pee.....literally tried every option we could think of. He couldn't even take a 2 hour nap in the afternoon without wetting. I was so SICK of the urine smell in his room, the constant daily laundry, the continuous lack of clean underwear or bed linens, I was ready to try anything. The first week of Chummie resulted in one change of sheets. He still started peeing about 4 times a night, but stopped when the alarm went off. We would help to the bathroom, reattach chummy, and start over. The second through fourth weeks, there were no sheet changes, and alarms dropped to about 2 per night. The fifth week, he actually went 4 full nights without a single alarm...and actually woke up a few times to pee in the bathroom for the first time in his life!! For whatever reason, he regressed in week 6, and went back to 1-3 alarms per night. Since then (we are on about week 9 currently), he averages 1 alarm per night. Sometimes there are none, sometimes 2. Chummie is not a miracle worker in itself, and won't necessarily stop every child from wetting the bed. It is a TRAINING system to teach the body. Follow the instructions, for sure! Just because the child doesn't pee for a few nights, don't take it for granted and stop using Chummie, as the child may well regress. The instructions specifically state NOT to stop Chummie until the alarm doesn't go off for 2 full weeks. For our son, the training is still happening and we haven't gotten 2 full weeks of consecutive nights. He gets into such deep sleeps, we can't even wake him, but the alarm and vibrating stops the pee as soon as it starts, often leaving only a barely detectable drop of urine on his underwear. We are then able to help him to the bathroom (even though he never fully wakes up). The downside for us is that there have been some days that were tough behaviorally due to the frequent sleep interruptions in the beginning, but I think we've mostly worked through that. I honestly wouldn't care if we had to use Chummie for the next 2-3 years (hopefully that won't be the case!). The tapes are cheaper than diapers, and the inconvenience is a whole better than the nuisance of the daily laundry of the past. We would definitely recommend this product--even for challenging situations like ours.
