HOLY GRAIL FOR OILY / COMBO SKIN
I have been using this product for the past year or so and it’s the best sunscreen for daily use. I have tried countless brands over the years and none can compare to this product. The price is very affordable compared to other mineral tinted sunscreens so I find buying it every 3 months sustainable for me. My mom and I both like that it has shortened our morning routines, we feel no need for any concealer or foundation after applying this. We are both big fans of the consistency because it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. I have sensitive oily acne prone skin. This product has never caused a break out or rash for me. I cannot express how much I love that it stays matte all day. Before finding this sunscreen, I used to need oil blotting sheets every 2 hours and keep my hair up all the time because I could feel my hair sticking to my face from how oily other sunscreens made my skin. My mom has normal skin, neither oily nor dry, her main skin concerns are fine lines and hyperpigmentation. She loves the sunscreen as well. She uses it every day and finds it has helped a lot with the melasma and fine lines. We like that it’s offered in multiple shades because her and I don’t share the same skin tone but can still enjoy the same product.

Nearly perfect tinted sunscreen
This is a great product for people with light warm skin tone. I don’t think it would work for fair skin, as it borders on being a touch too dark for me, but it’s fine with a very light powder over the top to lighten it up a touch (see attached pics). I have incredibly oily skin and I found this to be neither dewy nor drying. It was a nice in between with a more natural satin finish. (and it is the perfect texture once I add a touch of setting powder). Although it is matte, it isn’t drying at all. If you have dry skin, I would definitely add a moisturizer underneath. It did take a few minutes to fully dry down. I’ve not tried this under liquid foundation, so I’m not sure how it would do underneath. I do wear a translucent setting powder over it, which sets it perfectly. It provides just a touch of coverage - a “your skin but better” look and It stays put even after mild sweating. I have tried numerous (at least 20) other tinted sunscreens and BB creams w/ spf over the past few years (including several viral ones) but this has been my fave. I also have moderate acne. I’ve only been using this about a week, but so far it hasn’t triggered any breakouts I’ll update this review if it does. I have attached a few pictures wearing the Austrian Gold Matte in the light shade. . I think it is obvious in the pics that my face is a touch darker than my neck, but it’s always like that unless I use a shade that is really too pale for me.

Dry skin folks, please don't be afraid to try.
I have dry, dehydrated, sensitive skin. Chemical sunscreens irritate me and physical formulas with high zinc concentrations suck the ever-loving-life out of my skin (zinc has strong astringent properties). Without fail, I will look like the crypt keeper by the end of the day with flakes galore... and it doesn't matter how moisturizing the formula may be otherwise. The higher the zinc, the drier my skin. So it's been a struggle for me to find the right fit with mineral sunscreens. This one will now be in my regular rotation. 1. It has a sufficient, but low zinc content (4%) with the addition of the much more forgiving titanium dioxide (also 4%). 2. Zero white cast. Period. 3. There are 3 tints to choose from (I wear the fair-to-light, as I'm quite pale). My only wish is that the undertone was less cool/pink. This is always a problem for me, as my skin's undertone is yellow (and no one seems to care about us bananas). 4. No shine! Thank the heavens... I was so tired of looking like a mirror ball after dutifully applying my SPF. And that brings us to the "dry" issue that some people have pointed out. This formula has a true matte finish (not like the others you've tried that claim to be matte and are still dewy... this one is matte for dayyyys). While this product may have a dry touch formulation, it is not DRYING. As in, it is not going to actually dehydrate your skin. Shea butter is the 2nd (inactive) ingredient. The formula also contains vitamin B5, vitamin E, and squalane. I have zero issues with this product drying out my already desert-like skin. Just be sure to moisturize first, which you should be doing anyway. However, if your skin does not tolerate silicones (which actually help prevent TEWL, by the way), you may not care for this product. 5. It's truly sweat and water resistant! Like, this stuff is not budging until you tell it to scram. And you'll need to double cleanse to remove it, which again, everyone should be doing anyway. I like to jog outside in the sun. I will have beads of perspiration pouring down my face. This sunscreen is totally unfazed. It never runs, gets greasy, or moves in the slightest. It also doesn't get into your eyes and cause stinging. 6. I love that this is SPF 50 (until now, I had only found the formulations of SPF 30 to be bearable). 7. It is cosmetically elegant... lightweight, silky, smooth... not sticky, tacky, or greasy AT ALL. 8. It's affordable! Hallelujah!! Aside from the pink undertone that I don't love, there is one other con. Eucalyptus extract is a known skin sensitizer... one of the worst offenders, actually. It doesn't irritate me, but it surely will be an irritant for some. I'm not sure what purpose it's serving here, except for AG being able to call the product "botanical." I'd love to see them nix it altogether and add something more soothing and tolerable for all skin types. How about aloe? It's botanical and almost universally tolerated. Lastly, I have not yet tried this product under foundation, as I don't tend to wear it regularly. But it is important that it plays well with my make up when I do wear it. So I'll have to test it out. I've seen mixed reviews on that. Some love it under make up, some find that it fails as a base. I'd love to hear more opinions in that respect.

Best mineral tinted sunscreen I’ve ever tried!
UPDATE: So I’m not an expert aka chemist or anything but in doing more research on spf, this spf can’t possibly be spf 50…it’s so low in each physical sunscreen tbh.. and I know particle size, dispersion, antioxidants boost the spf etc but even then I take my spf seriously and until scientists do extensive studies or prove it’s actually spf 50(I say this because a couple companies were exposed for not actually being spf 50!!), then I’ll use this bb cream in the Sun because it’s actually perfect for oily skin. However, I’ve started using it for work (I work in an office) and it doesn’t oxidize and gives me a perfect matte tinted foundation look! So for that reason I will be purchasing it because I don’t have to use powders to keep it matte all shift!! Guys!!! This sunscreen is AMAZING!!! If you have oily skin and need a tinted MINERAL (they usually are more greasy than chemical sunscreens), this one is perfect. It dries down so matte and stays that way on my days off that I do errands, I haven’t used it for heavier activities or exercising so idk if it holds up matte throughout but this sunscreen is perfect for a “light” makeup look because the tint is just enough to make it look like I have a matte foundation on. It is very thick and can feel caked but apply it in layers and when moistured. Only thing is there’s only three shades.. the light is passable on me but for lighter complexion maybe not :( I’m a light neutral beige for reference. The fact that it’s mineral, spf 50, tinted, very matte, and only $16 is PERFECT. La Roche Posay tinted mineral is good but way too expensive and the finish of AG is way better.

HOLY GRAIL for a minor rosacea girly for that every day look
After YEARS of searching for a good tinted face sunscreen, I’ve found the one. I waited until I finished an entire tube and am about to order a second before I wrote this review. I’ve tried just about every one out there from tower 28 Sunnydays, several Elta md, several la roche posay, alll the Neutrogena, image, skin better, and more. As someone with rosacea that doesn’t wear makeup often- I like a tinted option and need to stick with mineral sunscreens, but I am not a fan of the shiny glass skin look, especially since my husband also uses the face sunscreen and hates shiny. The best way to describe this product is that it is a blend of the MD Solar Sciences mineral creme (a fantastic option for normal to oily skin in dry weather places with some serious tinted pigment coverage, but very bad for humid places as sweat droplets just sit on your face), elta md tinted uv daily, and the Neutrogena purescreen mineral uv tint (similar to elta md very shiny, not much tinted pigment coverage but affordable and has this great blurring effect). See images for comparison of the Neutrogena purescreen vs this Australian gold. The Australian gold has a matte finish and similar to the md solar sciences- SHE THICC but the product is very breathable once applied. This sunscreen doesn’t have as much pigment coverage as the md solar sciences, but there is a blurring effect similar to the Neutrogena with a teeny bit of extra pigment coverage just to help make your skin tone look cohesive and hide minor redness. I uploaded a before and after application picture and you can see it literally looks exactly like my skin in the before picture, just the slightest bit less red and more consistent coloring across my cheek, but it doesn’t hide my freckles at all. I don’t wear makeup often, but when I have worn just a bit of blush, mascara, etc on top it has worked great. However, the times I tried to put on concealer or my IT cosmetics cc cream on top it didn’t go so well. So, this definitely works well under most makeup but it doesn’t play nicely with foundations since it leaves very dry patches on your face and does not allow your foundation to blend (it comes out very speckled/splotchy). As far as sensitive skin goes- I’ve had ZERO skin irritation with this product where almost every other product causes me to break out for a few minutes upon application and then chills out. I’m fairly certain it is the niacinamide in most sunscreens that causes that reaction and this product doesn’t contain it that I’m aware of. Many reviews mention this, but the product is very difficult to get off. In the mornings I have to wash my hands with soap 2 times before it is off, but to me it has felt like a small inconvenience for the way it makes my skin look like mine but better. I double cleanse at night with the elf holy hydration cleansing balm and then my normal Vanicream face wash and it’s been perfectly fine! I haven’t noticed extra breakouts or anything due to this concern. Now, along these lines- the product is very transferable before drying and even after it’s dried when you are taking your clothes off especially on white clothing. BUT it hasn’t been anything some micellar water hasn’t been able to fix! Stain removers didn’t really do anything to get rid of the product on my clothing, but micellar water as soon as you notice the transfer has worked wonders. All in all- this doesn’t work great under foundation, but it gives a beautiful skin like look with blurring and very slight color coverage for the every day look!

The BEST mineral sunscreen for outdoor activity
Let me start out by saying, I think the way this product is advertised is quite a misnomer. It is described as being a “lightweight BB cream.” To get the SPF 50, it is by no means lightweight. Let’s all be honest here, mineral sunscreens in general are not lightweight if you’re using the amount needed for the SPF. In addition to this, maybe it’s just me, but when I think of a BB cream, I think of a thin, lightweight skin tint that you can barely tell is there, meant to give a “your skin but more even” appearance. Again, that is not this. This is a thick cream that, if you’re using the amount for the displayed SPF, will certainly be apparent and you can feel as a layer on your skin. So then why did I give this 5 stars and have gone through numerous tubes and will continue to purchase this? Because it is the BEST outdoor mineral sunscreen and I will die on this hill. I don’t know what sorcery (chemistry) they did, but this ACTUALLY dries down to a matte powder-like finish, making it very transfer resistant once it dries (takes about 10-20 minutes to fully dry). I do long distance running and this stays on through hot sweaty days, rain storms, and snow storms, so I can confirm it is also highly water resistant. It uses mineral filters and I have never once had any eye irritation (and I have quite sensitive eyes.) I have never had issues with pilling while using it after my other multitude of skin care products and have never had any skin irritation from this. I LOVE that it is fragrance-free. And on top of all of this, it’s affordable, especially for the amount you get. My only complaint is the shade range - I think there are only 3 shades. I will also say it does oxidize so keep that in mind. But I now run around looking slightly orange (not terribly, more noticeable up close) instead of like I just escaped a mausoleum, so I can’t complain too much. TL;DR - this is a great outdoor mineral SPF. It’s transfer resistant and water resistant, dries down to a powder-like finish, and holds up well in extreme weather. It’s fragrance-free, doesn’t pill, and is affordable. If you have sensitive eyes and are looking for a good outdoor mineral sunscreen, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

Nearly perfect, but the Fair to Light shade is way too dark
I'm so sad that this didn't work for me. I've been looking for a tinted sunscreen that could replace my foundation for years, and this was ALMOST it. I have rosacea, so I wear foundation every day to cover the redness. I also wear sunscreen underneath it every day to prevent skin cancer and premature aging, and I don't like having to apply the sunscreen, wait for it to absorb, and then apply foundation. I'm a low maintenance person with high-maintenance skin. :) I bought this thinking I could use it as both sunscreen and foundation to eliminate a step, but it's just too dark and orange for my complexion. Everything else about it is amazing. It provides great coverage, on par with foundation - you can't see any redness in my skin at all. It's mineral, so it doesn't burn my eyes if it gets in them. It has a mattifying effect, which is great for my oily skin. Not greasy at all. There's silicone in it, and it really feels more like makeup than sunscreen. There's no white cast obviously, because the tint covers it up. It's SPF 50. It's really affordable. But I'm pretty pale, and the tint is just too dark and orangey on me. :( It looked ok when I first put it on in my bathroom, but when I went outside and looked at it in natural light, there was really obvious line between my face and my neck where the sunscreen was applied. I don't know if Australian Gold reads Amazon reviews, but if you do, PLEASE make this product in additional shades! Even Fair, Medium, and Dark would be a big improvement. This product is literally perfect in every other way, and it would be my holy grail facial sunscreen if the tint were just a little lighter and more neutral or cool-toned.

This is the one!
This is the one! I've been trying to simplify my makeup routine for the foundation portion to include just moisturizer plus a tinted sunscreen, and this finally completes my search. What I was looking for: 100% mineral sunscreen, sinks into your skin, moderate color coverage, obviously non irritating, not too glowy or shimmery, matches my skintone. Ones I have tried: Paula's choice tinted moisturizers (there's two) which both aren't a perfect match for my skintone; DRMTLGY - honestly shocked by the complete lack of tint once on compared to the photos in their ads, also too shiny and thin on my nose; PUR - not a good color match (tried two) and ends up getting kind of patchy as the day goes on; BLISS - almost perfect, but the lavender scent was too much, and I think I did start to break out from it/get itchy. For reference, I'm fair but not very fair, have some redness and acne scars to cover, my Clinique foundation color is Linen. This one is amazing! It meets all my requirements, offers a medium coverage with a natural finish. Not quite matte, but no shimmer or shine. It has an intriguing texture out of the tube - you think it's going to be thick like putty, but it's actually more whipped and melts into your skin. The color match is perfect for me, and it blends in easily. It lasted all day, and I didn't have any problem washing it off at night. After years of being an oily skin complexion, in my early 40s now I have a normal complexion, so I think applying moisturizer prior to this helps with the color match and blendability. Bonus, the price is amazing. Definitely give this a try and definitely apply moisturizer first - I think you get the best results with that. Oh I forgot to say that this actually does give a little hint of that "lit from within" look that you get with actual foundations, which is pretty incredible for a tinted moisturizer. The other ones definitely didn't do that.

Not greasy and blends well
Non-greasy and blended in perfectly with my skin tone. Very pleased with this product and going to be rebuying, as it's the first tinted sunblock I've found that is not oily on my skin, which is so important as I live in a really hot country!
