Sturdy metal auger, effective with the right drill.
TIP: if you have a sore back perhaps buy the larger size. This was smaller than I thought, so has involved a lot of bending over. The auger itself appears well made and is a nice weight. The effectiveness really depends upon the quality of your drill. I have an expensive brushless branded drill. I tried it on hard December soil and it drilled a nice hole with ease.I'm guessing a cheap drill would make things much tougher, so take this into consideration.If.you found my review useful please consider giving me a Helpful vote.Sturdy metal auger

A handy tool.
There are various ways to plant bulbs. One of them would be to remove a foot of earth from an area and then replace it when the bulbs have been put in the ground. Another way is to use this drill bit, which is a lazy way to do it. Using the electric drill enables the bulbs to be put in with great accuracy and is a lot quicker than digging individual holes. The drill is strongly made and I'm glad I bought one with a long reach. I am very pleased with the purchase. ( I used a corded drill. )

This is The Bees Knees
I had just removed some small conifers and bamboo 3/4ft high and have been using a small Matix to break up the ground which was bone dry, This "Bulb/mini rotavator was great for breaking up the ground, I just kept drilling holes and before very long the ground was broken enough to add my compost, great wee tool and I intend to buy the longer one next pension day. Highly recommended

Great Item
Why hadn't I seen these before!I've been reviving a garden that has been neglected for years and this tool is a revelation. I've used it to create borders and clear out deep-rooted weeds as well as planting shrubs and other plants.Attached to my 18v DeWalt drill it cuts through the hardest soil. The most valuable (and used) garden tool I've got.If you buy one you'll be amazed at just how useful it is.

Easy to use and efficient
Overall very good and easy to use. We have clay soil with a lot of stones but these were not a problem with the auger. Until now I had been using traditional bulb planters, long handled and hand planters, but they are not as efficient because if you hit stones you have to dig them out to continue, and in my case there are loads. Now with the auger planting bulbs is a breeze. My reason for minus one star is the length - I bought a long one (37cm) but I need to bend my back. I started having a backache while planting 140 spring bulbs, so I decided to sit on a low stool, then the auger was too long. Otherwise, it is a very efficient gardening tool and I even enjoyed using it. It was also useful to remove deep rooted weeds found while doing the planting job. I may buy another size next year.

Makes planting much easier
Planted 6 rows of potatoes at my allotment in about 30 minutes. Ok - so I didn't earth them up, but it was super easy. A little wearing on the wrist, but that was a lot of holes! My 5 year old Bosch 18v Lithium drill lasted for all the holes, and had plenty of life left in the battery (heavy clay soil), but the drill and battery were getting a little warm! Not a problem, but it does work the drill quite hard.Perfect size for 9cm pots if you wiggle the bit around a little. I will be using this for planting out all bulbs and plants in pots. Also great for loosening soil and drilling out difficult weeds! One of two tools that I purchased this year that have changed the way I garden, and will make the whole planting process much more of a pleasure than a chore :-)

This tool works ok
We have very hard tough clay soil, which is fairly soft after a weeks rain,so ideal for planting daffodill bulbs,I bought the auger which makes approx 2 inch diameter holes, and used a DE Walt 18 volt battery powered drill,it really works only snag is that its too short if you suffer with a bad back or due to age like me, cannot kneel down . On the net I found a video showing how to use an auger,it was filmed in the USA and it showed that an extension was available in the USA ,they usually have everything out there. So I got 15 inches of steel rod and made my own extension,Its now very easy to use for a 79 year old chap like me,made a few test holes yesterday,it went in easily, did not clog up,made a clean round hole and the drill coped quite easily ,by drilling with an auger the soil is not compacted at the bottom of the hole, which does happen if holes are made with a crowbar or similar pointed tool, also with a flat bottomed hole the bulb roots are in contact with the soil, So its a very good tool, which works far better than I thought it would,

Plant your bulbs with ease
Very well made garden Auger drill bit.I’m only reviewing on the basis of how well made the drill bit is and not it’s performance as I’ve no bulbs to plant just yet but when I do I will add to my review. It’s very well made and very strong coated metal looks like it will stand up to even the toughest soil clay or just solid garden soil.It also comes with two free handy little tools a dibber for seedling thinning out and a nice tool with a fork and mini spade on each endLooks great no faults
