Samhain―also known as Halloween―is the final spoke in the Wheel of the Year. At this time, the harvest has finished and the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest. This guide shows you how to practice the serious work of divination and honoring the dead along with the more lighthearted activities of Halloween. Rituals Recipes Lore Spells Divination Crafts Correspondences Invocations Prayers Meditations Llewellyn's Sabbat Essentials explore the old and new ways of celebrating the seasonal rites that are the cornerstones of the witch's year. Review: Informative & Enjoyable read - This is the first Llewellyn Sabbat Essentials book I've bought and read, and I like it very much. It starts off explaining the basics about the wheel of the year, how Samhain is considered the Pagan/Witches' new year and all the symbolism that comes along with the season. It is a time to clear out what (or whom) isn't needed in your life, endings, remembrance, and tribute to those who came before us-- tying up loose ends and taking care of business before the introspective time of winter. The author provides extensive history about the origins of modern Halloween and the ancient festivals' influence over the years. The book covers ways to celebrate however you choose, provides crafts and recipes for festivities, activities to celebrate the holiday in modern ways while honoring tradition, chants and prayers, and Samhain symbolic correspondences at the end. I recommend it for pagans both beginning and experienced, and for anybody not of the faith who has an open mind and wants to learn of these histories and traditions. This is the first book I've read by the author Diana Rajchel, and I will definitely check out her other work. Looking at the bibliography, you can tell she really did her research, and she did a great job with this book. I also look forward to reading more of Llewellyn's Sabbat Essentials. Review: Excellent! - I absolutely love the Llewelyn Sabbat series, and the Samhain book is no exception. It’s thoughtfully structured to give you the history behind the holiday, how to incorporate the old ways to modern practices, and includes recipes and crafts. I will be purchasing every book in this series.

Samhain
Love this book! Together with Mari Alexander's book on the same subject, I am able to plan what I believe will be a truly memorable Samhain. I loved comparing the two books. It helped me make informed decisions on how I wanted to prepare for. the holiday. If you only want one book on the subject,I would purchase this one. Enjoy!

Halloween takes center stage in this book.
I love Halloween. It is presented here in its old fashioned and new fangled existence. Quickly fell in love with this series (starting with this book) and continue to adore this book as well as the series as a whole. Firstly known as Samhain; then later eventually became known as Halloween. Once saw the Real Story of Halloween (on history channel I think), and it explained that what was originally named as Samhain became All Hallows Evening ➡️ All Hallows Even ➡️ Hallowe‘en ➡️ Halloween .

Informative but needs to be shipped better.
Found this book very informative! Loved to recipes and crafts section the most. Though Amazon needs to fix how it ships books. Thus one came in a paper mailer with 3 other books by the same author. This one has a few sings and another one is bent. Not haw you ship books. But all in all the book itself was great!

Worth reading and enjoyable
This book is very informative giving in good but not grand-boring details on the history of Samhain. It offers interactive content and activities for cooking, crafts, celebrations, and ideas to look at things in many different perspectives. It’s a part of a collection that gives the same general information in the beginning for each holiday/Solstice. Not only that but it gives information on different Pagan backgrounds and traditions for people who practice religiously and non-religious as well. I enjoyed reading this book, the crafts and activities are cute and fun, and I didn’t feel like I was being converted to any beliefs as a secular practitioner. If you’re either reading this for history, for practice and/or beliefs, or just for the Halloween/Samhain spirit, it’s enjoyable and I’ll be getting more of these books for the collective series.

So far I'm getting a really good history lesson which is good and useful
Don't let the size of this book fool you. It is jam packed with information. I was so anxious to go through the book, I skimmed through all the pages very quickly and now I am snuggling down to read every word. So far I'm getting a really good history lesson which is good and useful. So far what I like about this book and this series because I have bought Imbolc and will be buying the entire series, what I like is that it is specific to Samhain and everything that can go with it. I'm so anxious to go through all the others.
