Excellent way to add a SSD when out of drive bays
I've been a fan of IcyDock ToughArmor products for a long time and this continues my experience with excellent quality from them. The drive sled on this controller card/hot swap bay are compatible and easily swap with the sleds from many of their other 2.5" 9.5 mm height products (see IcyDock's website for specific models).I'm using this for the SSD cache drive in an UnRAID system where all my drive bays are filled with spinning disks but I had a free PCIE x1 slot on my motherboard.Per dmesg on my UnRAID system, this card uses an ASMedia ASM1062 as its controller. While not the fastest controller (managing about 388 MB/s read and write on my Crucial M500 cache disk) it's adequate for my needs. And the controller is probably faster than any spinning disk you might want to install in it.I will definitely purchase this again if I need one more disk in a system where I'm out of drive bays or controller ports but still have a free PCIE x1 slot.

its good for lowprofile server systems.
I installed two of them with 2tb ssd drives in my SAN (Storage Area Network) inside a Dell r710 server for basic ISCSI Network drives for the 10 VMs (Virtual machines) i am using for my Clients to remote into. works well.

Perfect for storage swapping.
Takes any 2.5 inch sata drive as long as it isn't a 15mm one. That may limit your options to only @ 2TB or so.

Tight Fit For 9.5mm Drives
Unique plug and play adapter that fits into a spare PCIe slot. Arrived fully functional. Unfortunately it's an extremely tight fit, especially for 9.5mm drives. Not a major issue for more permanent storage, but if you are frequently taking drives in and out, this will be a nuisance. The tight fit can be made worse if your case has thick slats between the PCIe slot covers. For my next PC build, I will likely skip this adapter and move to a 5.25" hot swap drive bay.

too me 10 minutes top.. added a 2 TB Samsung EVO drive to my PC.. so far it works!

Good hotswap for 2.5" drives
If you need the ability to hotswap, this could be a good product. I used it so I did not have to take up a 3.5" drive bay in my system. You still get a fast connection for your SSD - and also save the drive bay for something else.I use this in a NAS running unRaid. No issues at all with it. Plugged it in, configured it - forget about it.
