KES Bathroom Sink Drain with Overflow Vessel Vanity Sink Pop Up Drain Stopper Polished Chrome, ALL Metal Rustproof Brass and 304 Stainless Steel, S2008A-CH

These drain stoppers are great. I am an interior designer and use these in all different finishes in my bathrooms. I really love the white finish for bathtubs.

This one will leak unless you wrap the supplied teflon tape on the threads. First time I've encountered this. I took it out and used plumbers putty thinking their washer was the problem. When it still dribbles down the threads I added the teflon thread tape and all is good. (Hint: the supplied tape is too short to cover all the threads. Install the drain loosely, note where the tightening nut will end up and just tape that area.)

After installing a Push & Seal drain from Pfister that came with a new bathroom faucet I decided to change all the drains in the house for the Push and seal type. Pfister 972053Y Push And Seal Drain KES ships the drain with two soft silicone gaskets and no instructions. The top gasket worked with no issues. The over flow bottom gasket looks slim for the job. The Locking nut is not using a slip ring. I decided to add Tru-Blu to the threads since I suspected the silicone gasket is too thin to compress against the sink and the large threads. The Tru-Blu also acts as a lubricate between the silicone gasket and the locking nut. The Push and Seal from Pfister is all plastic and desgin and installation was super easy - zero sealant and zero leaks. I decided to go with KES since the Pfister was out of stock at the moment and KES was a better value.After installing the KES drain I tested the over flow for 10 minutes - No leaks. I filled the sink and it maintained the same level for over two hour. I drained the full sink in seconds and again no leaks. I'm not sure if this KES drain will be leak proof without pipe sealant... The KES is easy to clean, just unscrew (counter clockwise) the pop hood. Now is left to see how long the bronze coating is going to last... This is a good quality product. If you have this goofy overflow set up like mine, the holes are low enough in it to actually drain if water goes into the overflow. The top seal is above the sink basin so no gunk, toothpaste etc getting in it. Works great!

Fits as it should in our bathroom sink. Very stylish. Highly recommended this product and seller. Came very well packaged. I didn't get a picture of the item in the sink.

This thing is utterly useless. Don't waste your money or especially your time. The thing has a non-standard tail piece diameter of 1 1/8". Standard US faucets have a 1 1/4" tail piece that mates up with a 1 1/2" P trap using a 1 1/2" to 1 1/4" reducing washer. If you try using the standard reducing washer the thing leaks like a bucket that's been blasted with a shotgun because the washer is larger in diameter than the tail piece. I can't find ANY reducing washer for this bizarre 1/8" size difference. Maybe that's an Asian standard. Or maybe parts that were supposed to be supplied were missing. Mine arrived in an unsealed box with zero instructions and no reducing washer for this weird 1 1/8" tail piece. It's not even worth the hassle to send it back. This thing is going in the trash and I'm gonna buy a brand name product somewhere else. I've wasted 3 days and had a pedestal sink apart 3 times along with 2 trips to Home Depot trying to get this stupid thing to seal with a standard US P trap. EDIT 9/12/2017: So I emailed the seller to see if they had a solution for their oddly sized tail piece. They responded very quickly. Short answer, they do NOT have a solution. There is no custom reducing washer that will make this thing water tight in a standard USA P Trap. So, this thing is going in the garbage. It's not worth returning it. In my opinion, Amazon should not be selling this in the USA without a disclaimer on the product listing that informs potential buyers that this product does not conform to US plumbing standards and cannot be used with a standard slip joint like every other faucet set designed for the US market. The product appears to be well designed, the materials are high quality, and the manufacturing looks good. But none of that can overcome the fact that it is not designed for US plumbing standards and the seller offers no solution to adapt it to US standards. As for those reviewers who have complained about leaks but installed this anyway using pipe sealer.....aka glue.....why would you do that? These sink drains are intended to be used with a P Trap that incorporates a slip joint for a reason. This is a maintenance item that is meant to be assembled and disassembled to clear a clog, retrieve a ring dropped in the sink, swap out faucet sets, etc. When you glue the thing into the P Trap you..... A.) Create a permanent joint that can't be opened up without destroying it. B.) Create an unreliable water tight seal. Buy at your own risk!!!

I like how this looks, the popup is the entire diameter of the drain so it's quite big compared to most builder grade drains but to me it looks higher end. The Oil Rubbed Bronze finish looks good, not too dark to look black and not too "rubbed" to look coppery. The visible portion was also well protected for shipping. This is an inexpensive drain so there are some quality skimps compared to higher brand names but mine worked well without leaks. I used plumber's putty instead of the top gasket. The lower gasket MUST go on the right way or it will leak. Mine came with a small roll of tape but it was poor quality, not a lot of stretch to it. Buy and use good teflon tape and make sure you wrap it in the same direction of the nut. There is a wrong way to wrap teflon tape. If you have it wrapped in the opposite direction of the nut, when you screw it on, the nut will bunch up the tape and you could have leaks. I've only had it installed for an hour so not sure of longevity but my big complaint is that the stopper does not hold water for my sink. I bought two for a double vanity and my sinks are pretty standard builder grade US sinks, nothing weird or oddly sized about them but the pop up when pushed down will just slow the water drainage, not stop it. I don't use this very often but I am annoyed that it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. I'm keeping it bc I don't feel like going through the hassle of returning it and I like that it's all metal and not plastic so it won't break like the junk I had before it. But I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS if you need your sink to hold water.

In the end, everything got installed with no water leaks. It’s a nice look and fits together snugly. As others have suggested in their reviews, I assembled the pop up drain assembly and it started leaking. So, I took it all apart, and closely examined each part. It turns out the silicon gasket immediately under the pop up drain was affixed backwards initially. I reversed it and put everything back together, and this time no leaks. The kit includes some Teflon tape. I’ve always been told my plumbers that one can never go wrong with Teflon tape, so I used it on all the metal threads, which I’m sure helped. Also, it’s good to snug everything down I used channel lock pliers, and they put all the fittings together like a charm. I have installed KES drain parts before and they are reliable and work. For those that don’t think there are any instructions, that isn’t true. There was a small folded set of instructions that explained how the parts all fit together and there is also an illustration on the Amazon web page. It’s one of the things that drew me to the KES products in the first place - in the past, I have ordered plumbing parts and as I’m only a DIY’er , it’s really frustrating not receiving instructions on how to put the parts together. All told, I’m super happy with this pop-up drain and highly recommend it.
