The Showgirl Next Door: Holly Madison’s Las Vegas Kindle Edition

One thing which really would have complimented this entertaining book would have been a collection of las vegas, Clark county, and surrounding area maps depicting locations of both past and current hotels, casinos, and other points of interest. It would have been fun to track the growth of the strip by showing where some of the imploded hotels and casinos one stood, and which new venues now take their place. I have always enjoyed visiting this unique city, and found Holly Madison's descriptions and stories about las vegas to be refreshing and fun! As a constant reader, I hope to see more from Ms Madison in print as she tells the tales, both past and present about a city that never sleeps, yet dreams of a future limited only by ones imagination.

Omg this book is so awesome. It took me by surprise it was pretty big and the pages are so nice. They're like the nice shiny pages. And tons of great photos. I was kind of like wondering why the book was pricey, but of course the price didnt stop me from buying, but I can see now the book is really nicely made. And it's big too. Not your typical book that's for sure. This is awesome I'm really glad I bought it, I cant wait to start reading. I looked through the pages to see the photos but I haven't started reading it yet. I know it will be good, its holly.

This was a really nice surprise. While I certainly could be wrong, I got the feeling that Holly actually wrote this book herself (or a great deal of it by herself) And that's a good thing! It reads just like you are listening to Holly tell you all about her life in Vegas, her favorite places to go, places to eat (from expensive to reasonably priced), and great places to shop. I would love to spend a few hours shopping and hanging out with Holly (even though I'm old enough be her mother)!Holly put a lot of work into research for this book. I was not at all aware of the history of Vegas and learned a lot. Holly takes you on a roadtrip from LA to Vegas, giving you a lot of history along the way. Throughout the book, she contiues to provide the reader with the history of Vegas, complete with photos from different eras.There are so many beautiful photos of Holly throughout the book as one would expect. I personally would have liked a little more reading and less photos, but my husband has no objections.If you are buying this book for inside scoop on Holly's World and/or Peepshow, save your money. There is very little about either. Some photos from each but not much else. And really that's okay because afterall this is 'Holly Madison's Las Vegas'. Quite honestly it's refreshing to purchase a book from one of the former Girls Next Door that is NOT all about their past life at the mansion. Holly has clearly started over, built a whole new life for herself and moved on. I admire her for this.Holly gives us a small peek into high roller suites that the average person can't get into. Fun and beautiful photos!If you are planning a trip to Vegas, I wouldn't recommend this as your only guide, but Holly certainly offers some good suggestions that are worth jotting down before you go.Holly Madison has done a very nice job creating a fun book that her fans will enjoy. I love the Girls Next Door, Holly's World and all that goes with it, so it was inevitable that I would buy this book. However, living in Utah, I normally hit Vegas once or twice a year (and have ever since I was a teenager in the 90's) and I had found that our Las Vegas routine had gotten a bit stale. This book is definitely the answer to get things livened up a bit.First, the bad:The book is light on substance. This book is short. I finished it in under and hour. What substance there is is excellent, so I wish that there was more. Also, the paper is cheap. Super cheap. It feels like magazine paper. That's just a personal pet peeve of mine, so I share just in case there are any other paper-obsessed readers out there. More importantly, there is no real "behind the scenes" of Holly's World or of Peepshow. There are tons of great pictures of Peepshow and a little bit about how it came to be, but nothing that you couldn't find anywhere else. Same thing with Holly's World.But that's ok, because this isn't a book about Holly Madison in Las Vegas, it is a book about Holly Madison's Las Vegas, and taken as such, this book hits all of the marks. I loved the history of Vegas - I have always wondered who in the heck decided to build a city in the middle of desert nowhere, and why?! I also loved reading about the casinos, show girls and celebrities of old Vegas and all of the fun old pictures were just icing on the cake.Holly also tackles modern Vegas and gives a fun, but brief, tour of her favorite spots to hit. Some of these are well know favorites and some are hidden gems. She addresses restaurants, spas, clubs and casinos. I also loved the guide on the trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. If I ever drive through that stretch of highway, I am definitely hitting her recommended stops. Holly describes some of the hidden High Roller rooms in Vegas and even the elusive MGM Mansions. She also has a short guide on what to wear (and not to wear), pack and do to survive the Las Vegas heat and dryness (and she isn't kidding - Utah is dry, but Vegas makes Utah feel like a tropical jungle).I wouldn't use this book as my sole guide to Las Vegas. It is more of a supplement or, if you are like me, a great way to find parts of Vegas you had never seen before.All in all, an excellent guide with a great mix of Holly Madison fun and Las Vegas information. Absolutely recommended whether you are a fan of the show or a fan of Las Vegas.

I do like the book, she moves on to what Vegas is all about gives you idea's of it and if you ever go the places where you should visit or eat! And the picture choices are great i enjoy just flicking through and studying the picture like some of the rooms of the palms have been photographed and there stunning and someone like me would probably never get to see these room in this lifetime so its great to just look! She goes into detail about Vegas that for me is kinda boring at parts so i did skip, like the history I'm not really into that but i will probably read it as i hate leaving the book completely unread to every detail. That is the reason i only give it 4 stars not five but overall its a great book im glad i bought it and i'd of hoped Holly would bring another one out! :)

Would highly recommend for anyone who is a fan of the girls next door or anyone who is taking a trip to Vegas lots of interesting stories and facts about Vegas. And hollys personality really shows through.

the book I thought would tell u about her life in vagas, but only showed u pictures of where to go and what she found interesting about it , wanted more insite into the pearson

Its ok if your planning a trip to vegas, otherwise give it a miss. Its kind of a vanity project for Holly I think
