Well designed and manufactured
These are particularly nice to snick in between rose thorns to prune and shape branches and gather flowers. They are well made, their slim needle-nose design makes them easy to use, and they are made of stainless steel, so that limits rusting and tarnish. Cleans up with water and is a breeze to keep looking like new.

Perfect Tool for Deadheading Perenials in Close Quarters
The perfect tool for deadheading perennials. The blades are razor sharp and the tool cuts through flower stems effortlessly while leaving a nice clean cut. It's a small tool so naturally they don't have the horsepower for thick woody stems. But for thinner green stems, they're small enough get into close places to snip spent blossoms at just the right place on the stem to promote new flowering and growth. Just finished three butterfly bushes. The hibiscus plants are next.I own two other ARS products, both larger shears for trimming hedges and cutting back garden plants in the fall. Both are of the same high quality as these little pruners.

Quite good, medium-high quality garden snips
These are quite good for garden snips. Not as good as the Felco F-310 but better than many of the other 'knock off' brands out there. Well made, reasonably sharp.

Master Gardeners look no further
These are my main pruners I use in the garden for deadheading. After my first pair of the ARS HP-45SE I had to have these full metal framed versions. The steel seems a bit more well finished as well. Along with the HP-130DX and the HP-310DX. The steel stays Very sharp for a very long time. Iv been using them for a few months and have yet to dull them. Use them to deadhead thousands of plants, hundreds-thousands of cuts per week. 2 rules. 1-No metal/wire. 2-Oil after every day (I use a medicinal grade mineral oil (ballistol)). They cut just as easily/cleanly/quickly the day I bought them. I expect these to last 5+ years with regular oiling.*update*Few more months under the belt. Still look/cut like brand new from keeping up with oiling. If you treat these with Ballistol frequently (use whatever you want but this is what I use and what I know works really well) they will get to a point where after a long day in the garden when they are all caked up with resin, get home or before leaving work oil them up and the resin will seem to run away over night/after an hour. Wipe down once more in the morning and perfectly clean. Oil before storing. Love these pruners.

Best pruners I've purchased to date.
I used the first pair of ARS pruners I purchased to divide my dahlia tubers. They were better than anything else I have tried, including a needle-nosed pair I thought might be more useful (it wasn't!). I purchased this second pair to keep in a different location for keeping my container plants pruned and for flower arranging. It has become one of my favorite all-around tools. Nice and sharp and fits my hand well (medium size glove). I plan to purchase a couple more as gifts for garden club friends.
