I had looked for months, online and in our local costume store for a pirate costume that wasn't matronly and that didn't give the wrong impression, as wench wasn't what I was going for. I knew right away when I ordered this, that this would require some quality black tights/leggings underneath it, which really looked awesome, as the ones I chose were more like thin pants, making the dress part look like a shirt/skirt. I had to tighten it up the gold straps you see in the middle, made sure they were put through all the holes (were not upon arrival) and in tightening, had a lot left, that I ended up using to tie bows in my black tennis shoes. Because we would be doing a lot of walking, I opted out of heels, and chose not to wear the Adult Boot Tops I'd ordered, because they were going to require some work to get them to stay up, some re engineering, if you will, as there is nothing to make them want to stay up. I also had to pin the red material under the gold ribbon, underneath and to the side, because the costume was sent a bit big. When pulling on the sleeves, I pulled by the ruffle, and tore one, but was able to sew it to look like new. (btw, dont' do that!). The hat made the costume and really looked cool cocked to the side, a bit. The outfit was fun, flirty, but very tasteful, and was probably the best female pirate/bucaneer costume I saw at Walt Disney World,- and people at this Halloween party are VERY serious about their costumes! It was surprisingly VERY well made, not like some of the cheap ones I'd looked at previously, that cost a lot more. I found a really bright gold necklace, with big circles that almost looked like coins (at Kohls) with huge gold earrings, which really set the look. I'd highly recommend this costume, and to buy it a size or two larger (I'm a size 14, 5.8", and this size as a little big, easy to modify, but I think the smaller size- as Halloween costumes tend to run small- would have been tight). Im 5ft , 125lbs got a small, fits greats! Absolutely love it! Only complaints is the hat cause it just isnt exactly like the one pictured and just doesn’t sit right at all after being smushed in a package. Also the belt doesnt latch , so i bought safety pins. Overall costume is great! I do recommend a under skirt to give it volume and not look so flat.

Fits perfectly

Despite not coming with a hat, I LOVE IT ! The price was right, the quality was right, the fit was right, and it looks awesome! I’ll embellish it a little more, and make a few alternates and adjustments, but this was right out of the package (with my own boots (I may use shorter boots to show off more leg, or shorten the skirt, or both. And I don’t mind having to get a hat. I love it.

The sizing chart had me worried so I bought a 2x instead of XL that I would normally get. I'm large chested and not a small waist. The belt had lots of room to go and the chest area was too loose. It is short in the back but you can work around that. I'm going to order smaller size.

I’m 5’4” 120 pounds. Usually wear Small but size guide says 4-6 is Extra Small. Couldn’t get it over my shoulders or hips… fingers crossed the Small fits! Looks like good quality for price though. Excited to be a pirate this year 🏴‍☠️

I ordered this costume for a Halloween party my husband and I were attending this year. I hadn't seen it in stores and it was a new costume this year so there weren't any reviews on it that I could find. I took a chance and ordered it anyway because it looked so pretty in the picture. I'm really glad I did because I loved this costume! I received many compliments on it at the party.The quality of the material is really nice and I will be able to reuse the costume many times. The dress could be used for quite a few other "characters" in my opinion. The size was true, just take your measurements and you will be fine. I would recommend a petticoat as it not only makes the skirt look better but it also hides your tush when you bend over lol! The skirt is not super short but it's short enough, I wore spankies under it just in case. The "sleeves" also stay in place very well which surprised me.The only "complaints" I have would be the hat and the belt. Compared to the quality of the costume the hat is kind of chincy but it still looks good. The belt is kind of chincy as well (but it's a Halloween costume, I wasn't expecting a nice leather belt) the buckle on the belt does not have the prong part that goes through the holes that are in the belt. I don't know if that was just a fluke but that's how my belt came so I had to keep tightening the belt throughout the evening. I would think that it was a manufacturing error as the belt did have holes in it for the prong to go through.I'm happy with the purchase and this item still deserves five stars because it truly is an awesome costume!
