ESV Pocket Bible (Buffalo Leather, Deep Brown): Holy Bible, English Standard Version

Cool little Bible!
I think this an amazing little bible that complements a study Bible and personal size Bible. It’s so portable you can take it anywhere, and yes, it fits in a back pocket of your jeans. The construction seems great and my leather was very nice for what is. The print is surprisingly easy to read if you hold it at the right distance based on your vision. The paper isn’t as bad as people proclaim in some posts. It’s thin but great for such a small Bible. I love the somewhat rustic but clean cut edges. With use, this will probably wear nicely and get some character. I think it’ll hold up, but let’s pray it lasts a lifetime and more.

Truly portable and readable
I wanted a Bible I could carry with me everywhere I go. Back in 2009 I had a King James large-print Compact Bible that had a fake leather cover and the binding fell apart in less than a year. But I carried it in my back pocket and had the word of God everywhere I went. By the way, I know you can have a Bible on your phone. That's fine, but having the physical word of God in your hands cannot be matched by an app on your phone. A physical Bible does not interrupt your reading with texts and notifications! But I digress. I've been reading the ESV as my main Bible for a few years now, and when I saw this Bible I was intrigued both by the promise of buffalo leather and small compact nature. When I got it, it was perfect. It is even smaller than my previous KJV, though the print is a little smaller. I kinda wish it was in single-column format, but I'm sure that would also pose problems with size. The paper is thin but not like onion-paper thin. I haven't marked in the margins but I have used a dry highlighter on some passages and it does not bleed through. It easily fits in my back pocket and I can take it out and read it wherever I am. And being leather-bound I know that it will last a very long time. Get yourself one of these Bibles and carry it with you everywhere you go.

Useful on the go pocket bible
This is a nice pocket bible. Feels light and fits in my back pockets. The buffalo leather is nice cover. The edges in the leather are not neat and may be a dislike to some people but for me its fine. And the color and feel is as expected for leather. I’ve carried this through a church retreat a few weeks ago and was glad not to carry a bigger bible around.

Great little Bible with a few issues
I bought this Bible as I do college campus ministry and needed a small Bible that I could have in my backpack at all times. I also travel quite a bit and wanted something that wouldn't take up too much precious space in my carry on/personal item. It needed to be light and compact but also needed to be durable enough to survive shifting around in the front pocket of a backpack. This Bible certainly is small and light! As far as pocket Bible goes it is in on the smaller side (it acutally fits into my pants pocket! I'd say any smaller and it wouldn't be usable. I find it decently readable and never really have a problem reading from it while preaching or teaching. I think my eyes would get strained if I attempted to read for a considerable amount of time. The quality is a mixed bag. I really love the buffalo leather. It is soft and supple and feels quality. It seems like it will hold up well also. The construction on the other hand leaves a bit to be desired. The top and bottom corners of the pages are not evenly rounded. It looks like if someone tried to round out the corners by hand. The end sheets are made of a thin piece of leather but are not glued down well to the cover and so the corners are starting to come up. I am curious how well the binding will hold up to regular use.Overall I think this Bible is worth the money and has proven to be a loyal companion that goes with me everywhere.

Way to go, Crossway!
Durable, since it's real (not bonded) leather and smyth sewn binding. A pocket Bible that's small enough to actually fit in your pocket (imagine that!), and pretty easily too, while containing the whole Bible. The font is surprisingly legible! It's small, but not the smallest I've seen. Feels similar to a Cambridge Pitt Minion. And, the translation is excellent to boot. There are "cons," but I don't care about them! I've been looking for a usable and durable pocket Bible in a good modern translation (not KJV) for years, and this is by far the best I've found. It is well worth the asking price! Way to go Crossway! 👏As soon as I handled my copy I showed it to my wife, and I could tell she was impressed. I asked her if she would like one, since it would easily fit in her purse or daiper-bag. She enthusiastically said yes, so I said, "It's yours; Merry Christmas." "Oh thank you," she replied, "I love it!"...then I immediately bought another one. Lol 😆

Absolutely luv this
I like mini stuff and this is the perfect size for my pocket or small backpack. It lays down very well and yet feels nice in the hands to hold and read. I really like the feel of the cover. I prefer the all black lettering and I like the simplistic structure, no footnotes. It simply is what it is.

A Very Nice Pocket Sized Bible
While I already had a NIV pocket sized bible from Zondervan, it used glue to bind the pages. I tend to really open my book wide to lay it flat, and binding kept cracking and the pages would fall out. I grew tired of gluing and taping the book, so I decided to try this bible since it uses Smyth binding. It's night and day. I can open this bible flat any where I want, and there are no spine issues. This bible is ESV, which I think I actually do like better. This bible is even smaller than the Zondervan, and please note that the print is very small. Also this bible lacks the red lettering, the cross reference, maps, and introductions before each book. I do miss all of that. It's unfortunate that Zondervan just doesn't improve the binding it uses.
